Background: The glucose-to-lymphocyte ratio (GLR), a glucose metabolism and systemic inflammatory response parameter, is associated with an adverse prognosis for various diseases. However, the association between serum GLR and prognosis in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD) is poorly understood.

Methods: In this multi-center cohort study, 3236 PD patients were consecutively enrolled between 1 January 2009 and 31 December 2018.

Unenhanced CT-based predictive model to identify small bowel necrosis in patients with mechanical small bowel obstruction.

Objectives: To investigate the diagnostic value of unenhanced CT in mechanical small bowel obstruction (SBO) with small bowel necrosis, and to establish a predictive model.

Methods: From May 2017 to December 2021, the patients with mechanical SBO admitted to our hospital were retrospectively collected. Taking pathology-confirmed small bowel necrosis as the gold standard, the experimental group was composed of patients with small bowel necrosis confirmed by pathology, and the control group was composed of patients with no intestinal necrosis confirmed by surgery or successful conservative treatment with no recurrence of intestinal obstruction during 1-month followed-up.

Introduction: Short and long sleep durations have been associated with adverse health outcomes. The objective of this study was to examine the association between self-reported sleep duration and chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the general population on the basis of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database.

Methods: A total of 28,239 adults aged ≥18 years who participated in the 2005-2014 NHANES were analyzed.

Background: Total cholesterol is inversely associated with mortality in dialysis patients, which seems implausible in real-world clinical practice. May there be an optimal range of total cholesterol associated with a lower mortality risk? We aimed to evaluate the optimal range for peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective real-world cohort study of 3565 incident PD patients from five PD centers between January 1, 2005, and May 31, 2020.

This study aimed to investigate the association between perfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) exposure and the risk of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in the elderly. Our sample included 1420 participants (≥ 60 years) from the 2003-2014 NHANES study with available serum PFASs, covariates, and outcomes. NAFLD was defined based on the hepatic steatosis index.

A mice model of NASH was established using low-dose streptozotocin combined with a high-fat diet and tilianin treatment.

Design And Methods: Cross-sectional data were analyzed for 35,018 adults in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2005-2018. VAI was determined using waist circumference, body mass index (BMI), triglycerides (TGs) and high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an important biomarker in various biological processes, especially cancer related, yet economic, simple, sensitive and specific methods for miRNA determination are still challenging. In this study, we have developed stepwise-strand displacement amplification (S-SDA)-based colorimetric sensing platform for let-7a miRNA detection in clinical serum samples. Our results demonstrated that the developed S-SDA-based method shows high sensitivity with a detection limit of 63.

Methods: Ch-TG-MS was fabricated using emulsification cross-linking technique and then coated with EuL to create Ch-TG-MS/EuL.

Efficacy and safety of tofacitinib in Chinese patients with active psoriatic arthritis: a phase 3, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.

Objectives: Efficacy and safety of tofacitinib, an oral Janus kinase inhibitor, were evaluated in a 6-month, double-blind, phase 3 study in Chinese patients with active (polyarthritic) psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and inadequate response to ≥1 conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drug.

Methods: Patients were randomised (2:1) to tofacitinib 5 mg twice daily (N=136) or placebo (N=68); switched to tofacitinib 5 mg twice daily after month (M)3 (blinded).

Methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase 2 (MTHFD2) has been implicated in the etiology of various human malignant tumors; however, its exact role in bladder cancer (BC) remains to be explored. Through reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR, western blotting and immunohistochemistry detection of BC tissue, combined with The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database analysis, the present study demonstrated that MTHFD2 was upregulated in BC tissues. MTHFD2 expression in patients with BC was frequently associated with worse prognosis, tumor immune cell infiltration and programmed death‑ligand 1 (PD‑L1) expression.
