Thioredoxin-reductase 2 (Txnrd2) belongs to the thioredoxin-reductase family of selenoproteins and is a key antioxidant enzyme in mammalian cells to regulate redox homeostasis. Here, we reported that Txnrd2 exerted a major influence in brain damage caused by Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) by suppressing endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress oxidative stress and via Trx2/Prx3 pathway. Furthermore, we demonstrated that pharmacological selenium (Se) rescued the brain damage after ICH by enhancing Txnrd2 expression.

Clinical factors for delayed neuropsychiatric sequelae from acute carbon monoxide poisoning: a retrospective study.

Background: The efficacy and safety of the oral Janus kinase inhibitor peficitinib were investigated in Asian patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Methods: In this double-blind, phase 3 study, patients from mainland China, Korea, and Taiwan with RA and an inadequate response/intolerance to methotrexate were randomized (1:1:1) to once-daily placebo (N = 128), peficitinib 100 mg (N = 129), or 150 mg (N = 128) in combination with non-biologic DMARDs. At Week 24, patients receiving placebo switched to peficitinib 100 mg or 150 mg.

Lin28A alleviates ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis through activation of the AMP-activated protein kinase pathway in rats.

Aim: To investigate the role of Lin28A in ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis and to elucidate the underlying molecular mechanism.

Methods: Bilateral ovariectomy was conducted to generate an ovariectomy (OVX) rat model. Western blotting was performed to assess the relative expression levels of Lin28A, osteocalcin (OCN), runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and phosphorylated AMPK (p-AMPK) proteins.

Renal Pseudoaneurysms after Flexible Ureteroscopy and Holmium Laser Lithotripsy: A Case Report.

Background: Flexible ureteroscopy (FURS) and holmium laser lithotripsy is considered one of the most minimally invasive and safe surgical methods for the treatment of renal calculi. Renal pseudoaneurysm is a rare complication after FURS holmium laser lithotripsy. We report a case of renal pseudoaneurysm after FURS and holmium laser lithotripsy and review the relevant literature to analyze the possible etiology and summarize the treatment.

The protective effects of lncRNA ZFAS1/miR-421-3p/MEF2C axis on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.

LncRNA ZNFX1 antisense RNA 1 (ZFAS1) could improve neuronal damage and inhibit inflammation and apoptosis. We conducted an in-depth exploration on the protective mechanism of ZFAS1 in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. Overexpressed or silenced plasmids of ZFAS1 were transfected into the cells to analyze the effects of oxygen-glucose deprivation/reperfusion (OGD/R) treatment on the viability, apoptosis and related gene expressions of Neuro-2a cell by performing MTT assay, flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, and Western blot.

Methods: We obtained data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database (2000-2018) utilizing the SEER Stat software. The joinpoint regression was used to analyze the secular trend of incidence and incidence-based mortality (IBM) stratified by age, race, and summary stage.

Study of CT-Guided Localization in Pulmonary Nodule Resection.

Objective: In recent years, with the attention of the general people to health, the surgical treatment of small nodules has become necessary. However, some nodules are too small, too deep, or difficult to reach, and it is difficult to accurately locate small nodules in the process of routine resection. In order to solve this problem and increase the success rate of puncture surgery, this study analyzed the application value of zoning localization method guided by CT in patients with pulmonary nodules.

Autoimmune Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Astrocytopathy Associated With Area Postrema Syndrome: A Case Report.

Glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy is an immunotherapy-responsive autoimmune disease of the central nervous system with various clinical manifestations; among these, there are few reports about area postrema syndrome (APS). The authors present the case of a female patient admitted to the hospital with intractable nausea and vomiting as the predominant symptom. The patient's cerebrospinal fluid was tested by cell-based assays (CBA) and found positive for the presence of anti-glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) antibody, in addition, serological testing showed elevated levels of thyroglobulin and thyroperoxidase-specific antibodies.
