Objective: To compare the safety and efficacy of low-power (LP) and high-power (HP) holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) in patients with symptomatic small-volume benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Methods: In this prospective, multicenter, single-blind, randomized controlled trial, men with symptomatic BPH (prostate volume <40 mL, peak urinary flow rate [Qmax] <10 mL/s, International Prostate Symptom Score [IPSS] ≥18) underwent either LP (24 W) or HP HoLEP (80 W). The primary outcome was IPSS at 6 months postoperatively.

Aims: Excessive alcohol consumption leads to alcoholic liver disease (ALD), a major contributing factor to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. In the present study we investigated the involvement of phospholipase D2 (PLD2) in the pathogenesis of ALD.
Methods And Materials: ALD was induced in mice by chronic and binge ethanol feeding (the NIAAA model).

Being activated by deacetylation, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ coactivator-1α (PGC-1α) has become an important regulator of metabolic-related diseases. The activation of Sirtuin 1 (Sirt1) by resveratrol was likely to deacetylate PGC-1α. However, the role of deacetylated PGC-1α in the alleviation of activated Sirt1 on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)-related fatty liver disease (FLD) remained unexplored.

Background: Immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) has made remarkable achievements, but newly identified armored and cold tumors cannot respond to ICB therapy. The high prevalence of concomitant medications has huge impact on immunotherapeutic responses, but the clinical effects on the therapeutic outcome of armored and cold tumors are still unclear.
Methods: In this research, using large-scale transcriptomics datasets, the expression and potential biological functions of angiotensin II receptor 1 (AGTR1), the target of angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), were investigated.

Ocular complications of diabetes mellitus (DM) are the leading cause of vision loss. Ocular inflammation often occurs in the early stage of DM; however, there are no proven quantitative methods to evaluate the inflammatory status of eyes in DM. The 18 kDa translocator protein (TSPO) is an evolutionarily conserved cholesterol binding protein localized in the outer mitochondrial membrane.

Background: The metastasis and aggressive nature of prostate cancer (PCa) has become a major malignancy related threat that concerns men's health. The efficacy of immune monotherapy against PCa is questionable due to its lymphocyte-suppressive nature.
Method: Endoplasmic reticulum stress- (ERS-) and PCa-prognosis-related genes were obtained from the Molecular Signatures Database and the Cancer Genome Atlas database.

Objective: Analyze the application effect of multidimensional nursing intervention in postoperative patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia in urology, and explore targeted nursing measures.
Methods: A total of 118 patients who underwent benign prostatic hyperplasia surgery at the Urology Department of Jintan First People's Hospital in Changzhou City from December 2022 to June 2023 were selected and divided into an experimental group of 59 and an intervention group of 59 according to different nursing measures. Collect IPSS, QoL, SDS, and SAS scores from patients to evaluate their quality of life and psychological changes during hospitalization.

Background: Resveratrol (RSV) that possesses anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, and pro-angiogenic effects is an effective drug for diabetic wound (DW), while its pharmacological mechanism remains to be elucidated. In this study, we apply network pharmacology and experimental validation approach to reveal the potential mechanism of RSV against DW.
Methods: We obtained potential targets for RSV and DW from the publicly available database.

Objective: Esophageal varix (EV) bleeding is a particularly serious complications of cirrhosis. Prediction of EV bleeding requires extensive endoscopy experience; it remains unreliable and inefficient. This retrospective cohort study evaluated the feasibility of using deep learning (DL) to predict the 12-month risk of EV bleeding based on endoscopic images.

Background: Recurrence of common bile duct stones (CBDs) commonly happens after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). The clinical prediction models for the recurrence of CBDs after ERCP are lacking.
Aims: We aim to develop high-performance prediction models for the recurrence of CBDS after ERCP treatment using automated machine learning (AutoML) and to assess the AutoML models versus the traditional regression models.

This study is to evaluate the feasibility of deep learning (DL) models in the multiclassification of reflux esophagitis (RE) endoscopic images, according to the Los Angeles (LA) classification for the first time. The images were divided into three groups, namely, normal, LA classification A + B, and LA C + D. The images from the HyperKvasir dataset and Suzhou hospital were divided into the training and validation datasets as a ratio of 4 : 1, while the images from Jintan hospital were the independent test set.

Esophageal variceal (EV) bleeding is a severe medical emergency related to cirrhosis. Early identification of cirrhotic patients with at a high risk of EV bleeding is key to improving outcomes and optimizing medical resources. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of automated multimodal machine learning (MMML) for predicting EV bleeding by integrating endoscopic images and clinical structured data.

Insulin resistance (IR) attributed by the deficiency of lipophagy, is an abnormal state of downregulation of insulin-mediated glucose uptake and use into the liver. Chromosome 9 open reading frame 72 (C9orf72) variously modulates autophagy. We investigated the role and the downstream pathway of C9orf72 in hepatic IR.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death in women around the world. It is urgently needed to identify genes associated with tumorigenesis and prognosis, as well as to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the oncogenic process. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are widely involved in the pathological and physiological processes of organisms and play an important role as oncogenes or tumor suppressor genes, affecting the development and progression of tumors.

Purpose: Type A acute aortic dissection (AAD) is an uncommon catastrophic cardiovascular disease with high pre-hospital mortality rate without timely and effectively treated. The aim of this study was to assess the value of serum platelet to hemoglobin (PHR) in predicting in-hospital mortality in type A AAD patients.
Methods: A total of 183 type A AAD patients were included in this retrospective investigation from January 2017 to December 2019.

Background: Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is the most commonly applied biomarker for diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but the low sensitivity and specificity limit its clinical application. Cytoskeleton-associated protein 4 (CKAP4) is a novel oncogenic protein involved in the development and progression of HCC. This study aimed to evaluate whether measurement of circulating CKAP4 could improve diagnostic accuracy for HCC.

MicroRNAs as a novel class of endogenous small non-coding RNAs, modulate negative gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. Our previous work has demonstrated that miR-29a reduces PTEN expression by directly targeting the 3'-UTRs (untranslated regions) of its mRNA, thus promoting neurite outgrowth. To further confirm the role of miR-29a in the recovery of SCI and its potential mechanisms, a recombinant lentiviral vector was used to promote miR-29a expression in the injured spinal cord.

Objectives: Glycyrrhetinic acid is the main metabolite of glycyrrhizin and the main active component of Licorice root. This study was designed to investigate the in-vitro metabolism of glycyrrhetinic acid by liver microsomes and to examine possible metabolic interactions that glycyrrhetinic acid may have with other cytochrome P450 (CYP) substrates.
Methods: Glycyrrhetinic acid was incubated with rat liver microsomes (RLM) and human liver microsomes (HLM).
