A Case of Dengue Fever With Hemorrhagic Manifestations.

Dengue fever is an arboviral infection spread by the Aedes mosquito with a wide spectrum of presentations encompassing simple flu-like illness to hemorrhagic manifestations. Hemorrhagic complications range from simple petechiae and purpura to gastrointestinal bleeding, hematuria, and severe central nervous system (CNS) bleeds. Herein we present a case of a 38-year-old male with dengue fever along with its hemorrhagic manifestations.

Systolic Strain Rate In Left Ventricular Dysfunction Caused By Rheumatic Chronic Severe Mitral Regurgitation.

Background: In rheumatic severe mitral regurgitation, earlier detection of left ventricular dysfunction is very necessary in order to refer the patients for surgery at appropriate time. This study tried to find a correlation between conventional parameters of left ventricular dysfunction with systolic strain rate.

Methods: A descriptive correlational study conducted from September 2016 to March 2018.

The effects of two types of renin-angiotensin system inhibitors on the hypertension induced by new pressor protein associated with beta-factor XIIa in rats.

Background And Purpose: New pressor protein (NPP) is a human plasma enzyme, which is structurally related to the beta-fragment of activated factor XII. The present study aimed to compare the effects of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (captopril) and angiotensin type 1 receptor blocker (losartan) on the hypertension induced by NPP injection in normal (sham-2NX) and bilaterally nephrectomized rats (2NX).

Experimental Approach: In total, 60 male Wistar rats were sham operated or bilaterally nephrectomized under anesthesia.

Amlodipine/Valsartan (Avsar®): Efficacy in Hypertensive Patients - A Real World Observational Study (ALERT).

Objectives: Hypertension is a significant public health problem and one of the major noncommunicable diseases at the endemic level in Pakistan. Out of various types of bony defects, large metaphyseal bone loss (AORI types IIB and III) requires special augments in the form of cones or sleeves. The aim of this study is to assess the reliability of metaphyseal sleeves, in dealing with massive bone defects to provide stability for immediate weight bearing and also to check short to mid-term survivorship of metaphyseal sleeves in Asian population by assessing various parameters and complications.

Frequency of risk factors in patients of acute coronary syndrome due to coronary ectasia.

Background: Coronary artery ectasia is a relatively common entity characterized by inappropriate dilatation of the coronary vasculature. In some cases of acute coronary syndrome without obstructive coronary lesions, coronary ectasia is the sole cause. The exact mechanism of its development is unknown but evidence suggests a combination of genetic predisposition, common risk factors for coronary artery disease, and abnormal vessel wall metabolism.

Comparative gene expression analysis of and related genes in preeclamptic and healthy women: A cross-sectional study.

Background: Preeclampsia is a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy affecting about 2-10% pregnancies worldwide. mRNA expression of tumor necrosis factor alpha and have been reported to be altered in placental bed in preeclamptic pregnancies. We hypothesized that the expression of these genes is also altered in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in preeclampsia.

Risk Stratification of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia According to Different Prognostic Scores.

Introduction Several prognostic indices are in use to stratify chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients: Sokal, Hasford, and the European Treatment and Outcome Study (EUTOS) being the most commonly reported ones. The application of different scores may cause variability in the determination of disease prognosis. This study was conducted to stratify patients of CML in accordance with Sokal, Hasford, and EUTOS scoring systems and to determine the concordance rate of risk categories, calculated by using all three scoring systems.

Cardiac Tamponade Due to Inferior Vena Cava Filter Removal: A Case Report and Review of Literature.

Cardiac tamponade is a condition characterized by the accumulation of pericardial fluid, compromising the hemodynamics of the circulation. It has several known causes, including traumatic injury to the pericardium, idiopathic, neoplastic or purulent pericarditis, and, rarely, iatrogenic etiology. Phyto-synthesized nanoparticles (NPs) having reduced chemical toxicity have been focused globally and become essential component of nanotechnology recently. We prepared green phytochemically (ginger and garlic) reduced NiO-NPs to replace synthetic bactericidal and catalytic agent in textile industry. NPs were characterized using ultra-violet visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

Pediatric oropharyngeal candidiasis: A comprehensive study on risk factors and most prevalent species of Candida.

Oropharyngeal candidiasis is caused by opportunistic fungal pathogen candida. Decreased immune level whether in immunocompromised patients or in extreme age groups facilitate the progression of disease in vulnerable individuals. Current study focusses on evaluation of most prevalent species of Candida in pediatric patients and also assesses risk factors causing oropharyngeal candidiasis.

Depression and dementia from hyponatremia in brain cancer patients exposed to frozen food chemicals.

Frozen food chemicals contain neurotoxins which disturb electrolyte levels. Altered electrolyte levels can induce mental illnesses.
