Paroxysmal Sympathetic Hyperactivity (PSH) is a challenging and often underrecognized syndrome, commonly arising after a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Characterized by episodic bursts of heightened sympathetic activity, PSH presents with a distinct constellation of symptoms including hypertension, tachycardia, hyperthermia, and diaphoresis. While the exact pathophysiology remains elusive, current evidence suggests that the syndrome results from an imbalance between excitatory and inhibitory neuronal pathways within the central nervous system, leading to dysregulated autonomic responses.

Acute cholecystitis, often caused by gallstones obstructing the cystic duct, is a potentially life-threatening condition that requires timely intervention. High-risk patients, particularly those with significant comorbidities, may not be suitable candidates for laparoscopic cholecystectomy, necessitating alternative drainage techniques such as percutaneous cholecystostomy (PC) and endoscopic gallbladder drainage (EGD). This systematic review aims to compare the efficacy, safety, and outcomes of PC and EGD in managing acute cholecystitis in high-risk surgical patients.

Objective: The main objective was to assess the therapeutic efficacy of selenium alone versus a combination of myo-inositol and selenium (MI + Se) in treating patients with autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT). The study aims to determine which treatment option is more effective in restoring euthyroid state, as indicated by changes in thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), T3, T4, thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb), and thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb).
Methods: Google Scholar and PubMed databases were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and observational studies that reported outcomes of combined treatment (MI + Se) in restoring a euthyroid state, specifically comparing it with selenium-only (Se-only) treatment.
