Background: Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is a serious neurologic complication in septic patients with poor prognoses. There is increasing evidence that stimulator of interferon genes (STING) plays a crucial role in neuroinflammation and cognitive impairment. However, whether sepsis associated with STING changes contributes to cognitive impairment is unknown.

Background: In recent years, daratumumab (DARA) has gained widespread use in the treatment of systemic light chain (AL) amyloidosis. In this study, we assessed the efficacy and safety of a DARA treatment strategy based on serum free light chain (sFLC) levels and non-fixed cycles.
Methods: The study included 123 patients with Al amyloidosis who received DARA at our center between July 2020 and September 2023.

Background: Epididymitis, a common disease of the male reproductive system, is often caused by nonspecific infections. Antibiotics alone cannot reverse histopathological changes or prevent long-term reproductive issues. Lycopene (LYC), a potent antioxidant, has shown potential in alleviating epididymitis, yet its specific mechanisms remain unclear.

Colon cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers and is recognized as the most aggressive tumor of the digestive system. Aberrant activation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) is associated with proliferation, metastasis and immunosuppression of the tumor cells. Here, to inhibit the STAT3 pathway and suppress metastasis in colon cancer cells, the half-sandwich iridium complex Ir-ART containing an artesunate-derived ligand was synthesized.

Background: Loss-of-function mutations of (, also termed as ()) are frequently detected in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The mutant NSCLC was refractory to almost all the antitumor treatments, including programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) blockade therapy. Unfortunately, mechanisms underlying resistance to immunotherapy are not fully understood.

Background: Renal flare in lupus nephritis (LN) is a crucial contributing factor to poor kidney outcomes. This study aimed at evaluating the predictive value of residual active histologic lesions on renal flare in proliferative LN patients with clinical remission.
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled LN patients with class III/IV ± V (biopsy 1) who had undergone a protocol repeat biopsy (biopsy 2) at 7.

Background High-quality translations of radiology reports are essential for optimal patient care. Because of limited availability of human translators with medical expertise, large language models (LLMs) are a promising solution, but their ability to translate radiology reports remains largely unexplored. Purpose To evaluate the accuracy and quality of various LLMs in translating radiology reports across high-resource languages (English, Italian, French, German, and Chinese) and low-resource languages (Swedish, Turkish, Russian, Greek, and Thai).

Background: Voriconazole, isavuconazole, and amphotericin (AmB) formulations are currently recommended to treat invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA). We aimed to estimate the efficacy of different antifungal drugs in the initial treatment of IPA.
Methods: We included all available randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating first-line treatments for IPA by searching PubMed, Medline, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and the ClinicalTrials.

N1-methyladenosine (m1A) modification is an epigenetic change that occurs on RNA molecules, regulated by a suite of enzymes including methyltransferases (writers), demethylases (erasers), and m1A-recognizing proteins (readers). This modification significantly impacts the function of RNA and various biological processes by affecting the structure, stability, translation, metabolism, and gene expression of RNA. Thereby, m1A modification is closely associated with the occurrence and progression of cancer.

Dysfunction of the intestinal barrier is a prevalent phenomenon observed across a spectrum of diseases, encompassing conditions such as mesenteric artery dissection, inflammatory bowel disease, cirrhosis, and sepsis. In these pathological states, the integrity of the intestinal barrier, which normally serves to regulate the selective passage of substances between the gut lumen and the bloodstream, becomes compromised. This compromised barrier function can lead to a range of adverse consequences, including increased permeability to harmful substances, the translocation of bacteria and their products into systemic circulation, and heightened inflammatory responses within the gut and beyond.

Background: Trials of endovascular therapy for basilar artery occlusion, including vertebral occlusion extending into the basilar artery, have shown inconsistent results. We aimed to pool data to estimate safety and efficacy and to explore the benefit across pre-specified subgroups through individual patient data meta-analysis.
Methods: VERITAS was a systematic review and meta-analysis that pooled patient-level data from trials that recruited patients with vertebrobasilar ischaemic stroke who were randomly assigned to treatment with either endovascular therapy or standard medical treatment alone.

Introduction And Aims: Observational studies suggest an association between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and periodontitis. However, observational studies are susceptible to reverse causation and confounding factors, so the causality of this association is uncertain. Causal association between compounds of MetS and periodontitis has been well studied.

Succinate dehydrogenase (SDH)-deficient renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a rare subtype of RCC characterized by the presence of a germline mutation in one of the four subunits of the SDH enzyme complex (SDHA, SDHB, SDHC and SDHD). Together with a somatic second hit, these variants lead to the loss of function of the SDH complex. SDH-deficient RCC associated with SDHA mutation is a rare condition; to the best of our knowledge, there have been only four patients reported in the literature.

Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases have surpassed cancer as significant global health challenges, which mainly include atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, hemorrhagic stroke and ischemia stroke. The inflammatory response immediately following these diseases profoundly impacts patient prognosis and recovery. Efficient resolution of inflammation is crucial not only for halting the inflammatory process but also for restoring tissue homeostasis.
