Raman spectroscopy enables label-free clinical diagnosis in a single step. However, identifying an individual carrying a specific disease from people with a multi-disease background is challenging. To address this, we developed a Raman spectral implicit feature augmentation with a Raman Intersection, Union, and Subtraction augmentation strategy (RIUS).

Phenylacetylglycine (PAGly) is a small molecule derived from phenylalanine in the gut glycine degradation and conjugation. It has been associated with both the progression of atherosclerosis and protective effects on the myocardium. This study evaluated the function and the underlying mechanisms of PAGly in a rat cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury model.

Background: The study was conducted in order to investigate whether neoadjuvant immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy can bring survival benefits to patients with locally advanced resectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in the real world.
Methods: We retrospectively analysed patients with locally advanced resectable ESCC who underwent surgery at the Jining First People's Hospital from April 2020 to April 2022. Based on their medical history, the enrolled patients were divided into a neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy plus surgery group (nICT group) and a surgery-only group (S group).

Objective: The risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other dementias increases with greater global exposure to metabolic risks, making this a crucial public health issue. This study aimed to report the metabolism-attributable global burden of AD and other dementias from 1990 to 2021.
Methods: The Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2021 collected data on the number of deaths and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) related to AD and other dementias caused by metabolic risks, including high fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and high body mass index (BMI).

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) presents a puzzling sex bias, being more prevalent in women yet often less severe than in men, and the underlying reasons remain unclear. Studies using animal models, and limited clinical data have revealed a protective influence of exogenous estrogens, known as the estrogen paradox. Research suggests that beyond its receptor-mediated effects, estrogen acts through metabolites such as 2-ME2, 4-OHE2, and 16-OHE2, which are capable of exhibiting protective or detrimental effects in PH, prompting the need to explore their roles in PH to untangle sex differences and the estrogen paradox.

Objective: A lack of effective delivery methods has hampered the study of therapeutics targeting miR-875-5p for breast cancer (BC).
Methods: The miR-875-5p mimic was conjugated to AuNPs to produce AuNP-miR-875-5p. Then, the effect of AuNP-miR-875-5p on the proliferative, migratory, invasive activities, and apoptosis of BC cells was detected, as well as on tumor growth in animals.

Sertoli and granulosa cells, the initial differentiated somatic cells in bipotential gonads, play crucial roles in directing male and female gonad development, respectively. The transcription factor Foxo1 is involved in diverse cellular processes, and its expression in gonadal somatic cells is sex-dependent. While Foxo1 is abundantly expressed in ovarian granulosa cells, it is notably absent in testicular Sertoli cells.

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is associated with disturbances in energy metabolism. This study aimed to construct a lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA network through bioinformatics methods to explore energy metabolism-related genes in the pathogenesis of TBI.
Methods: Data from datasets GSE171718, GSE131695, and GSE223245 obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus, were analyzed to identify differentially expressed (DE) genes.

Background: Lung metastasis has garnered significant attention due to its prevalent occurrence. Pre-metastatic niche (PMN) establishment is a critical prerequisite for the onset of lung metastasis. Emerging evidence indicates that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play pivotal roles in the metastatic cascade to the lungs.

Introduction: During mesenchymal stem cell (MSCs) aging, a decrease in its proliferation and regenerative capacity occurs, which is implicated in human aging. The MSCs aging process is regulated by genetics, metabolism, the external environment, and various complex pathways.
Method: The aging of MSCs during in vitro culture poses a major challenge for developing cell therapy aimed at combating human diseases and aging.

Introduction: To explore whether neoadjuvant Sintilimab is suitable for patients with gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) adenocarcinoma, we designed this study to evaluate the short-term efficacy and safety of neoadjuvant Sintilimab in combination with chemotherapy for resectable GEJ adenocarcinoma.
Methods: We retrospectively collected data on patients with GEJ adenocarcinoma who underwent surgery after receiving neoadjuvant immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy at Jining First People's Hospital between October 2020 and October 2023. The primary endpoint was complete pathological response (pCR) rate; secondary endpoints: major pathological response (MPR) rate, neoadjuvant therapy-related adverse events (AES), the safety of surgery, Postoperative Complications, and overall survival (OS).

Considerable individual differences in learning ability have long been recognized, yet cognitive learning studies traditionally emphasized group averages while overlooking individual differences. We conducted intersubject similarity of functional connectivity analysis on a month-long randomized controlled trial dataset. Subjects in the training group, together with an additional 66 subjects undergoing the same training, were included to examine the correlations between intersubject similarity of functional connectivity and the intersubject similarity of single nucleotide polymorphisms related to mental disorders (schizophrenia, attention-deficient hyperactivity disorder, and autism spectrum disorder).

As society advances, an increasing number of people are focusing on the antiaging process of the body and seeking ways to maintain youthful facial features. Intradermal injection has been used to effectively improve the rough and wrinkled skin, playing a role in skin rejuvenation. However, the main component of intradermal injection products is cross-linked sodium hyaluronate (SHA), which has biological toxicity and potential carcinogenicity.
