It has been popular and challenging to undertake researches on the delay of acquired resistance of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKI). As key cells for tumor initiation, cancer stem cells (CSC) play an important role in the process of resistance to EGFR-TKI. Although preliminary studies found that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) could inhibit CSC properties and delay EGFR-TKI resistance, the specific molecular mechanism remains unclear.

The development of potent glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β) inhibitor has been increasingly recognized as the candidate treatment against the multifactorial pathogenic mechanism of Alzheimer's disease (AD). This study prepared various new pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine derivatives, evaluated the anti-AD activities and detected the security based on the structure-guided rational design. Our results indicated that many pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine derivatives had strong GSK-3β inhibitory activities, particularly compounds 41, 46 and 54, with the half maximal inhibitory concentrations (IC) of 0.

Progress in investigating pituitary stalk lesions: A review.

Medicine (Baltimore)

January 2025

Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical University, Jining, Shandong, P.R. China.

Pituitary stalk lesions are uncommon and are typically identified through pituitary magnetic resonance imaging and screening for causes of diabetes insipidus. Recent literature indicates that pituitary stalk lesions primarily manifest as pituitary stalk interruption syndrome and thickening of the pituitary stalk. The etiology of these lesions is complex and can be divided into major categories: congenital disorders, inflammatory or infectious diseases, and tumors.

Merging Photoinduced Electron Transfer with Hydrogen Atom Transfer: Formal β-C(sp)-H Pyridination of Carbonyls.

J Org Chem

January 2025

College of Material, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Key Laboratory of Organosilicon Chemistry and Material Technology, Ministry of Education, Hangzhou Normal University, Hangzhou 311121, China.

In this study, a novel approach that combines photoinduced electron transfer (ET) with hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) has been introduced for the selective β-C(sp)-H pyridination of carbonyl compounds. This method is notable for its absence of transition metals and its ability to function under benign reaction conditions, resulting in a range of pyridinated carbonyl derivatives with consistently moderate to good yields. The significance of this technique is further underscored by its potential for the late-stage functionalization of pharmaceutically significant molecules.

A 66-year-old woman presented with 9 days of left clavicle pain, with no history of recent trauma. CT images showed a left clavicle fracture with a surrounding soft tissue mass. An 18F-FDG PET/CT scan revealed increased FDG uptake in the tonsils, multiple lymph nodes, and the pathologically fractured clavicle, initially suggesting malignancy.

The incidence and mortality rates of colorectal cancer have been steadily increasing, making it one of the most prevalent cancers globally. Although current chemotherapy drugs have shown some efficacy in treating this disease, their associated side effects necessitate the development of more effective treatments and medications. The clinical application of elemene is widely utilized in tumor treatment; however, its efficacy is hindered by the requirement for high dosage and suboptimal anticancer effects.

Molecular and functional characterization of Accl(2)efl: A biomarker for heavy metal stress in Apis cerana cerana.

Ecotoxicol Environ Saf

January 2025

Lin He's Academician Workstation of New Medicine and Clinical Translation in Jining Medical University, Jining Medical University, Jining, Shandong Province, China. Electronic address:

The expanded lethal (2) essential for life [l(2)efl] gene family is responsive to proteostatic stresses. Their protein products are core components of the stress response mechanism and are emerging as promising biomarkers for cellular stress in Apis mellifera. However, l(2)efl (LOC410857) uniquely remains unresponsive to heat stress within this gene family, and research examining its role in adaptation to other types of stress across diverse bee species is scarce.
