Metastasis continues to pose a significant challenge in tumor treatment. Evidence indicates that choline dehydrogenase (CHDH) is crucial in tumorigenesis. However, the functional role of CHDH in colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis remains unreported.

Meanwhile, polarity is a disease-related indicator in the organism's microenvironment, where an unregulated variation may disturb the physiological metabolisms. Hence, a superior FRET-based fluorescent sensor (TLA) is presented to track polarity and sulfur dioxide derivatives by dual emission channel, an elevated red emission at 633 nm with decreasing polarity as well as a reduced red emission at 633 nm and improved blue emission at 449 nm with increasing concentration of SO derivatives.

N-heterocycles are important chemical hydrogen-storage materials, and the acceptorless dehydrogenation and hydrogenation of N-heterocycles as organic hydrogen carriers have been widely studied, with the main focus on the catalyst synthesis and design, investigation of the redox mechanisms, and extension of substrate scope. In this work, the Gibbs free energies of the dehydrogenation of pre-aromatic N-heterocycles (YH) and the hydrogenation of aromatic N-heterocycles (Y), , Δ(YH) and Δ(Y), were derived by constructing thermodynamic cycles using Hess' law. The thermodynamic abilities for the acceptorless dehydrogenation and hydrogenation of 78 pre-aromatic N-heterocycles (YH) and related 78 aromatic N-heterocycles (Y) were well evaluated and discussed in acetonitrile.

Exosomes, membrane-enclosed vesicles, are secreted by all types of cells. Exosomes can transport various molecules, including proteins, lipids, functional mRNAs, and microRNAs, and can be circulated to various recipient cells, leading to the production of local paracrine or distal systemic effects. Numerous studies have proved that exosomes can pass through the blood-brain barrier, thus, enabling the transfer of peripheral substances into the central nervous system (CNS).

Hematoxylin has a V-shaped chiral geometry, but its potential in chiroptical self-assembled materials is underdeveloped. Herein, three novel V-shaped chiral hematoxylin derivatives were synthesized, and they showed extended skeletons as well as photophysical and chiroptical behaviors. Moreover, their host-guest interactions with C were investigated.

A general and straightforward method for the regioselective construction of C-3 heteroaryl-containing imidazo[1,2-]pyridines cross-dehydrogenative coupling under transition-metal-free conditions has been reported, utilizing ,-dimethylaniline as the methylenation source and furnishing the C(sp)-C(sp) functionalized products in good to excellent yields. Mechanism studies indicate that a radical pathway is responsible for this transformation.

Nitrogen-containing heterocycles are an important class of antioxidants, and their reactivity and selectivity in hydrogen atom reactions have attracted significant interest from chemists. In this work, the kinetics of hydrogen atom transfer reactions from C(sp)-H bonds of 28 nitrogen-containing heterocycles, oxygen-containing heterocycles, alicyclic amines and cycloalkanes, which were denoted as XH, to the CumO˙ radical, were investigated. The characteristic physical parameter of the substrate, , the thermo-kinetic parameter Δ(XH), was determined using the kinetic equation [Δ = Δ(XH) + Δ(Y)] to quantitatively evaluate the H-donating ability of XH.

Messenger RNA (mRNA) holds great potential in developing immunotherapy, protein replacement, and genome editing. In general, mRNA does not have the risk of being incorporated into the host genome and does not need to enter the nucleus for transfection, and it can be expressed even in nondividing cells. Therefore, mRNA-based therapeutics provide a promising strategy for clinical treatment.

Patients with gastric cancer exhibit considerable genetic and phenotypic heterogeneity, necessitating the establishment of a model for personalized medicine screening. Here, we successfully established three-dimensional cell spheroids (3D cell spheroids) from fresh gastric cancer tissues (n = 30) as in vitro models for further therapeutic screening. Hematoxylin-eosin and immunohistochemical staining of whole spheroids and parental tumor tissues revealed that the 3D cell spheroids recapitulated the parental tissue structure and maintained the histological characteristics of the parental tumor tissue during long-term expansion in vitro.

Patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) reportedly benefit from immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapy. However, the subtype-specific vulnerabilities of ICB in TNBC remain unclear. As the complex interplay between cellular senescence and anti-tumor immunity has been previously discussed, we aimed to identify markers related to cellular senescence that may serve as potential predictors of response to ICB in TNBC.

: This study aimed to characterize circular RNA (circRNA) profiles associated with atrial fibrosis-related atrial fibrillation (AF) and reveal critical circRNAs for AF. : Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into control and atrial fibrosis-related AF groups (n = 15 in each group). The rats in the atrial fibrosis-related AF group were induced by chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH), and then confirmed by electrocardiograms, echocardiography, hematoxylin-eosin staining, Masson staining, immunohistochemistry assays and western blotting.

The targeted and novel albumin-binding strategy has been attractive in the field of cancer therapy. Herein, we have developed an organic small molecule-based photosensitizer, Evans Blue-Pyropheophorbide-alpha (EB-Ppa), to treat solid tumors with extremely high photodynamic therapeutic efficiency, which is stable in serum-containing aqueous media and can effectively accumulate in the tumor site due to the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect. Particularly, after the photodynamic therapeutic treatment with EB-Ppa, all breast tumors (4T1 cell line) xenografted in nude mice shrink fast due to the singlet oxygen generated by EB-Ppa with laser irradiation.

In this article, the second-order rate constants of 25 hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) reactions between phenols and PINO and DPPH radicals in acetonitrile at 298 K were studied. Thermo-kinetic parameters Δ (XH) were obtained using a kinetic equation [Δ = Δ (XH) + Δ (Y)].

Three physical parameters of the antioxidant XH, homolytic bond dissociation free energy Δ (XH), self-exchange HAT reaction activation free energy Δ , and thermo-kinetic parameter Δ (XH), were used to evaluate the antioxidant ability of XH in thermodynamics, kinetics, and thermo-kinetics. By comparing Δ (XH), Δ and Δ (XH) of these five bioactive antioxidants to release hydrogen atoms, it is easy to find that iAscH is the best hydrogen atom donor both thermodynamically and kinetically among these antioxidants.
