Tetrastigma hemsleyanum as a feed additive: modulating gut microbiota for enhancing nutritional transport and growth performance in Jinhua yellow chickens.

Tetrastigma hemsleyanum (TH) has attracted much attention for its heat clearing and detoxification effects, but whether it can become an effective feed supplement in chickens remains unclear. Herein, a total of 120 male Jinhua yellow chickens (two-mth-old) were randomly divided into into four groups (CON, TH-L, TH-M, and TH-H) for a 56-day feeding trial to explore its effects on growth performance and underlying mechanism. Results revealed that dietary TH notably increased the average daily growth (ADG), and decreased the average daily feed intake (ADFI) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) in TH-H group during 29-56 days.

Effective regulation and reconstruction of the microenvironment are critical for the regeneration of chronic wounds. Diabetic wounds, in particular, pose a significant clinical challenge due to increased oxidative stress and dysfunctional healing processes. In this study, a novel therapeutic strategy is developed using 3D copper-magnesium bimetallic antioxidant nano-enzymes (Cu/Mg-MOF) to mitigate reactive oxygen species (ROS) and restore redox balance through electron transfer.

Clinical study of two reversible arterial blockade methods in the treatment of scar pregnancy under combined hysterolaparoscopy.

Objective: To assess and compare the clinical efficacy of scar pregnancy debridement by a combination of reversible bilateral uterine and internal iliac artery blockade with hysterolaparoscopy, as a management strategy for cesarean scar pregnancy.

Methods: This retrospective study included patients diagnosed with cesarean scar pregnancy who underwent combined surgical intervention involving hysteroscopy and laparoscopy between May 2020 and February 2024. The study population was divided into two groups based on the type of arterial blockade used: a uterine artery blockade group and an internal iliac artery blockade group.

Risk factors for surgical site infection following thyroid surgery: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Thyroid surgery is a common surgical procedure for the treatment of thyroid diseases, such as thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and hyperthyroidism. Despite significant advancements in surgical techniques and perioperative care, surgical site infection (SSI) remains a frequent postoperative complication, which can lead to prolonged hospital stays, increased medical costs, and decreased quality of life for patients. Identifying risk factors for SSI is crucial for developing effective prevention strategies.

Family participation in dignity interventions for patients with cancer receiving palliative care: a scoping review protocol.

Introduction: The global burden of cancer is escalating, with Asia accounting for over half of cancer-related deaths worldwide. As cancer often diminishes patients' quality of life and sense of dignity, dignity-related interventions have gained prominence in palliative care for patients with cancer. However, a more in-depth exploration of the involvement of families, as the fundamental social units in Confucian Asian cultures, and cultural considerations is currently lacking.

Effectiveness and safety of transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation for depression in patients with epilepsy.

Objective: Our study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) for treating mild to moderate depression in patients with epilepsy (PWE).

Methods: A single-arm, prospective, multi-center, pre-post controlled study was conducted in Eastern China. After a four-week baseline period, PWE with mild to moderate depression began treatment with taVNS, administered for 30 min, three times daily, over a 12-week period.

Prevention of Intrauterine Adhesion with Platelet-Rich Plasma Double-Network Hydrogel.

Intrauterine adhesion (IUA) can negatively impact on pregnancy outcomes, leading to reduced pregnancy rates, secondary infertility, and an increased risk of pregnancy complications. Studies have shown that the application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in IUA patients is effective. However, the clinical readhesive rate of IUA after treatment is still high, especially in severe cases.

This study aims to elucidate the role of Kinesin Family Member 22 (KIF22) as a critical regulator of aggressive behavior in endometrial cancer (uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma, UCEC) and to uncover its underlying mechanisms, thereby providing a molecular rationale for future targeted treatment. Bioinformatics analyses were employed to assess KIF22 and TFDP1 expression in UCEC, examining their prognostic value and associations with disease progression. Expression levels were validated in UCEC tissues using qRT-PCR and western blotting.

Chinese Yam-Derived Adhesive Microgel for Effective Management of Uncontrolled Hemorrhage and Trauma-Induced Skin Wounds.

Chinese yam (), a traditional medicinal plant, has gained renewed interest in contemporary research due to its broad therapeutic potential. In this study, we developed an adhesive yam microgel through a series of peeling, grinding, sieving, and rehydration processes. Our in vitro experiments demonstrated that the yam microgel was noncytotoxic, effectively scavenged free radicals, and promoted cell migration.

Analysis of the lymph node metastasis distribution in patients with invasive resectable non-small cell lung cancer.

Background: The current standard for the surgical management of lung cancer involves anatomic lung resection combined with systemic lymph node dissection/sampling. The purpose of this study was to investigate the patterns of pathological lymph nodes in invasive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), explore the occurrence in lymph node metastasis (LNM), and provide recommendations for optimal lymph node resection/sampling in lung cancer operation.

Methods: There were 1,678 patients with NSCLC who underwent lobectomy between 2018 and 2021 at the Taizhou Hospital of Zhejiang Province were reviewed retrospectively.

Fermentation engineering is critical for mass-producing chemicals, food additives, and medicines, where optimal culture conditions maximize microbial growth and metabolite production. Although monitoring bacterial growth during fermentation is critical, there is a lack of a non-invasive and sensitive method to directly monitor the bacterial metabolism. In this paper, a novel optical monitoring method is proposed based on tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy.

This study explored the protective effect and potential mechanism of carvacrol acetate (CAA) on the oxidation of chlorpyrifos (CPF). A model of oxidative stimulus damage was established in Sprague-Dawley rats by subcutaneous injection of the CPF poison. PC12 cells were used to construct an oxidative injury model using CPF, and the protective effects and mechanism of action of CAA against CPF-induced oxidative damage were explored in vitro.
