Whether the addition of aromatase inhibitors (AIs) to recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) could yield additional benefit for short stature is controversial. We aimed to assess the effects of combined AIs and rhGH versus those of rhGH alone for short stature using a meta-analytic approach. The PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane library electronic databases were searched systematically for eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) from inception until December 2021.

Various studies have focused on the application of fibrin sealants (FS) in thyroid surgery. Utilizing a meta-analysis, this systematic review analyzed the findings of recent randomized controlled trials on the safety and efficacy of FS in patients who underwent thyroidectomy. The Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase, PubMed, and Medline databases were searched for relevant studies, without any language restrictions.

Research on fetal loss related to germline mutations in single genes remains limited. Disruption of has recently been established in association with perinatal deaths characterized by hydranencephaly, renal dysplasia, oligohydramnios, and characteristic dysmorphisms. We herein present a Chinese family with recurrent fetal losses due to compound heterozygous nonsense variants.

Background: Studies of clinical outcomes that compare the elastic stable intramedullary nail (ESIN) with the submuscular plate (SMP) were controversial. The meta-analysis was performed to summarize existing evidence, aiming to determine whether ESIN was superior to SMP in pediatric femur shaft fractures.
Methods: Search strategies followed the recommendations of the Cochrane collaboration.

Fragile X syndrome (FXS) [OMIM 300624] is a common X-linked inherited syndrome with an incidence only second to that of trisomy 21. More than 95% of fragile X syndrome is caused by reduced or absent fragile X intellectual disability protein 1 (FMRP) synthesis due to dynamic mutation expansion of the CGG triplet repeat in the 5'UTR and abnormal methylation of the (fragile X messenger ribonucleoprotein 1) gene [OMIM 309550]. Less than 5% of cases are caused by abnormal function of the FMRP due to point mutations or deletions in the gene.

Background: Ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T) is a multisystem genetic disorder involving ataxia, oculocutaneous telangiectasia, and immunodeficiency caused by biallelic pathogenic variants in the gene. To date, most variants have been reported in the Caucasian population, and few studies have focused on the genotype-phenotype correlation of A-T in the Chinese population. We herein present a Chinese patient with A-T who carries compound heterozygous variants in the gene and conducted a literature review for A-T in China.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized with senile plaques formed by Aβ deposition, and neurofibrillary tangles composed of hyperphosphorylated tau protein, which ultimately lead to cognitive impairment. Despite the heavy economic and life burdens faced by the patients with AD, effective treatments are still lacking. Previous studies have reported the neuroprotective effects of FGF10 in CNS diseases, but its role in AD remains unclear.

Objectives: The present study aimed to investigate the efficacy of ultrasonic dissectors for adenomyomectomy using the double/multiple-flap method combined with temporary occlusion of the temporary bilateral uterine artery and the utero-ovarian vessels for the treatment of symptomatic adenomyosis.
Design: This was a retrospective study.
Participants: In total, 162 patients with symptomatic adenomyosis were included, and all of them had originally been scheduled to group A (n = 82) and group B (n = 80) with each group representing a different surgical application.

Objective: To explore the clinical characteristics of pediatric anti-gamma-aminobutyric acid-B receptor (GABAR) encephalitis to enhance the understanding and improve the diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for this disease.
Methods: We report a rare case of a female pediatric patient with anti-GABAR encephalitis who was treated at the Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Literature search was performed to explore the clinical characteristics of pediatric anti-GABAR encephalitis.

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), a particularly aggressive breast cancer subtype without estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2) expression, possesses highly invasive capacity, uncontrolled proliferative phenotype and poor clinical prognosis. Sesamol enriched in sesame seeds has been widely reported as a metabolic modulator due to its anti-aging, anti-hepatotoxic and cardio-protective properties. In this study, we found that sesamol significantly inhibited proliferation, migration and invasion of TNBC cells via attenuating PCNA, CyclinD1 expression and reversion of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) characterized by increased epithelial marker E-cadherin and decreased mesenchymal marker N-cadherin, Vimentin, Snail expression.

Background: Although the optimal infusion dose of norepinephrine combined with crystalloid coload for preventing spinal anesthesia-induced hypotension (SAIH) for cesarean delivery has been established, the infusion regimen of norepinephrine combined with colloid coload has not been fully quantified. The objective of this study was to compare and determine the median effective dose (ED) and 90% effective dose (ED) of norepinephrine infusion combined with crystalloid coload versus colloid coload for preventing SAIH during cesarean delivery.
Methods: Two hundred parturients were randomly assigned to receive norepinephrine infusion at 0.
