Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of primary liver cancer and one of the major causes of cancer-related death. Thymidylate synthase (TYMS) catalyzes the methylation of deoxy guanosine to deoxy thymidylate, which is a crucial gene for DNA repair and replication. Thus, TYMS was reported to be closely associated with developing a variety of tumors, but it has been poorly studied in HCC.

Background: This study was aimed to determine the potency of Minocycline (MIN) and azoles, including itraconazole (ITR), voriconazole (VOR) and posaconazole (POS) against Scedosporium and Lomentospora species.
Results: This study revealed that MIN exhibited no significant antifungal activity against any of the tested strains, whereas in vitro combination of MIN with ITR, VOR or POS showed satisfactory synergistic effects against 8 (80%), 1 (10%), and 9 (90%) strains, respectively. Moreover, combined use of MIN with azoles decreased the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) range from 5.

Background: Main challenges for COVID-19 include the lack of a rapid diagnostic test, a suitable tool to monitor and predict a patient's clinical course and an efficient way for data sharing among multicenters. We thus developed a novel artificial intelligence system based on deep learning (DL) and federated learning (FL) for the diagnosis, monitoring, and prediction of a patient's clinical course.
Methods: CT imaging derived from 6 different multicenter cohorts were used for stepwise diagnostic algorithm to diagnose COVID-19, with or without clinical data.

Background: B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy has obtained promising results in relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (R/R MM), while some patients do not response, or relapse in short term after treatment. Combining with anti-CD38 might solve the problem of targeting BCMA alone. We aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of BCMA and CD38 (BCMA-CD38) bispecific CAR-T cells in R/R MM patients.

Imatinib mesylate (IM), a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, exhibits clinically prominent effects against chronic myeloid leukemia (CML); however, a few patients have shown resistance to IM treatment, resulting in disease progression. Smad4 is a tumor inhibitor that transduces TGF-β signaling and modulates genomic stability. Previous studies have indicated that decreased Smad4 expression played a bidirectional role in chemosensitivity in many types of cancers.

Population aging is occurring rapidly worldwide, challenging the global economy and healthcare services. Brain aging is a significant contributor to various age-related neurological and neuropsychological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Several extrinsic factors, such as exposure to ionizing radiation, can accelerate senescence.

N-methyladenosine (mA), as the most pervasive internal modification of eukaryotic mRNA, plays a crucial role in various cancers, but its role in multiple myeloma (MM) pathogenesis has not yet been investigated. In this study, we revealed significantly decreased mA methylation in plasma cells (PCs) from MM patients and showed that the abnormal mA level resulted mainly from upregulation of the demethylase fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO). Gain- and loss-of-function studies demonstrated that FTO plays a tumor-promoting and pro-metastatic role in MM.

UDP-glycosyltransferases (UGTs) catalyze the covalent addition of sugars to small lipophilic chemicals and are associated with a wide range of diseases including cancer. The human genome contains 22 UGT genes which could be classified into four families: UGT1, UGT2, UGT3, and UGT8. The UGT8 family contains only one member which utilizes UDP galactose to galactosidate ceramide.

Objective: We used U-shaped convolutional neural network (U_Net) multi-constraint image segmentation method to compare the diagnosis and imaging characteristics of tuberculosis and tuberculosis with lung cancer patients with Computed Tomography (CT).
Methods: We selected 160 patients with tuberculosis from the severity scoring (SVR) task is provided by ImageCLEF Tuberculosis 2019. According to the type of diagnosed disease, they were divided into tuberculosis combined with lung cancer group and others group, all patients were given chest CT scan, and the clinical manifestations, CT characteristics, and initial suspected diagnosis and missed diagnosis of different tumor diameters were observed and compared between the two groups.

Diffuse large B‑cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type of non‑Hodgkin lymphoma worldwide. Several studies have indicated that (hsa)‑microRNA (miR)‑429 exerts a tumor‑suppressive effect on a variety of malignant tumors. To the best of our knowledge, the molecular function and mechanism of action of hsa‑miR‑429 in DLBCL have not been evaluated to date.

Background: BCMA-specific chimeric antigen receptor-T cells (CAR-Ts) have exhibited remarkable efficacy in refractory or relapsed multiple myeloma (RRMM); however, primary resistance and relapse exist with single-target immunotherapy. Bispecific CARs are proposed to mitigate these limitations.
Methods: We constructed a humanized bispecific BM38 CAR targeting BCMA and CD38 and tested the antimyeloma activity of BM38 CAR-Ts in vitro and in vivo.

Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels from the pre-existing ones, is a hallmark characteristic of glioblastoma, making it an appealing target for treatment development. Given potent anti-cancer efficacy of mefloquine, FDA-approved anti-malarial drug, there is increasing interest in repurposing mefloquine for treatment of cancers, including glioblastoma. In line with these efforts, our work is the first to demonstrate that mefloquine is also an inhibitor of glioblastoma angiogenesis.

Bone-resorbing activities of osteoclasts (OCs) are highly dependent on actin cytoskeleton remodeling, plasma membrane reorganization, and vesicle trafficking pathways, which are partially regulated by ARF-GTPases. In the present study, the functional roles of Golgi brefeldin A resistance factor 1 (GBF1) are proposed. GBF1 is responsible for the activation of the ARFs family and vesicular transport at the endoplasmic reticulum-Golgi interface in different stages of OCs differentiation.

Backgrounds: Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the most important clinical complications of diabetes mellitus (DM) and is the most common cause of end-stage renal disease. Currently, there is no highly effective medicine that can prevent, halt, or reverse the progressive course of DN. Initial clinical data showed that Tripterygium glycosides (TGs), a traditional Chinese medicine, can decrease proteinuria in patients with DN.
