Preeclampsia (PE) is a significant complication of pregnancy, occurring in approximately 10% of pregnancies. However, the underlying mechanisms of this condition remain unclear. Placentation and tumorigenesis both share many characteristics, but PE is the result of insufficient placentation, in contrast to the overaggression of tumorigenesis.

Preeclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy-related disease that poses a significant threat to the health of both the mother and the fetus. Previous studies have primarily focused on the role of the placenta in PE pathogenesis; however, normal decidualization is crucial for the subsequent development of the placenta and pregnancy. Bisphenol A (BPA) is an environmental endocrine disruptor commonly used in the synthesis of polycarbonate and epoxy resins.

Aims/hypothesis: Pancreatic beta cell mass is dynamically regulated in response to increased physiological and pathological demands. Understanding the mechanisms that control physiological beta cell proliferation could provide valuable insights into novel therapeutic approaches to diabetes. Here, we aimed to analyse the intracellular and extracellular signalling pathways involved in regulating the physiological proliferation of beta cells using single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) and in vitro functional assays.

Objectives: Bisphenol A (BPA) is a representative environmental estrogen that is known to impair the function of the female reproductive system by affecting steroid hormones. However, not much research has been done on bisphenol S (BPS), which is an analogue of BPA and has been found in humans.
Methods: We retrospectively studied 152 female volunteers at childbearing age who came to the Shandong Provincial Reproductive Medicine Center between January 2018 and January 2023.

Background: Ferroptosis is an important way of neuronal cell death in acute phase and participates in the inflammatory cascade after spinal cord injury (SCI). It is reported that microRNA (miRNA) and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) are key mediators in the regulation of ferroptosis. This study will explore the inhibitory effect of LncRNA OIP5-AS1 on ferroptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction-mediated apoptosis in SCI.

Homologous recombination defects (HRD) render cells fail to repair DNA double-strand break (DSB), which causes synthetic lethality in these cells with punch by poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors (PARPi). Here, we reveal a receptor tyrosine kinase, AXL, whose inhibition leads to HRD in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. AXL is upregulated in HCC tumors, which is positively correlated with low survival rates.

Epithelial ovarian cancer is the deadliest gynecologic malignancy, characterized by high metastasis. Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) drives epithelial- mesenchymal transformation (EMT), a key process in tumor metastasis. Tumor necrosis factor-α-induced protein 8 (TNFAIP8)-like 2 (TIPE2) acts as a negative regulator of innate and adaptive immunity and involves in various cancers.

Exocytosis is a dynamic physiological process that enables the release of biomolecules to the surrounding environment via the fusion of membrane compartments to the plasma membrane. Understanding its mechanisms is crucial, as defects can compromise essential biological functions. The development of pH-sensitive optical reporters alongside fluorescence microscopy enables the assessment of individual vesicle exocytosis events at the cellular level.

Proliferation is a critical characteristic of the progression of gastric cancer (GC). Receptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor 2 (ROR2), the orphan receptor tyrosine kinase-like receptor, exhibits effects on tumor growth due to its abnormal expression in cancer. The goal of our study was to assess the potential regulatory role exerted by the ROR2 on GC cells.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of non-obese MAFLD on the gut microbiota and metabolic pathways caused by high-temperature processed meals. It was decided to divide the eighteen male Sprague-Dawley rats into three groups: the control group, the dry-fried soybeans (DFS) group, and the high-fat diet (HFD) group. Following the passage of twelve weeks, a series of physical, biochemical, histological, and microbiological examinations were carried out.

The self-assembly of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) into gold nanoparticle vesicles (GNVs) has been a topic of significant interest in recent years. However, the formation mechanism of GNVs is still not fully understood. In this article, we report that the new oligo(ethylene glycol)-terminated biphenol ligands (OBLs) show different solubility in tetrahydrofuran (THF) depending upon the number of terminal ethylene glycol units, resulting in a differential solvophobicity.

Aims/hypothesis: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of oral semaglutide vs sitagliptin in a predominantly Chinese population with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled with metformin treatment.
Methods: The Peptide Innovation for Early Diabetes Treatment (PIONEER) 12 trial was a randomised, double-dummy, active-controlled, parallel-group, Phase IIIa trial conducted over 26 weeks at 90 sites across the China region (including mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong) and five other countries. Adults aged ≥18 years (≥20 years in Taiwan) with a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, HbA between 53 and 91 mmol/mol (inclusive) and treated with a stable daily dose of metformin were eligible for inclusion.

Recent discoveries in mRNA modification have highlighted N1-methyladenosine (m1A), but its role in preeclampsia (PE) pathogenesis remains unclear. In this study, we utilized methylated RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing (MeRIP-seq) and RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) to identify m1A peaks and the expression profile of mRNA in the decidua of humans with early-onset PE (EPE), late-onset PE (LPE), and normal pregnancy (NP). We assessed the m1A modification patterns in preeclamptic decidua using 10 m1A modulators.

Purpose: To compare the risk of immune-associated pneumonitis between PD-1 and PD-L1 inhibitors, the meta-analysis was designed.
Method: The difference in risk of immune-associated pneumonitis between PD-1 and PD-L1 inhibitors was assessed by two different meta-analysis methods, the Mirror-pairing and the PRISMA guidelines.
Results: A total of eighty-eight reports were used for meta-analysis, while thirty-two studies were used for the Mirror-pairing.

Background: Dynamic changes in the fQRS complex between the initial and follow-up ECG in patients with acute pulmonary embolism (APE) have rarely been studied.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the significance of dynamic changes in the fragmented QRS complex in APE patients.
Methods: APE patients (n = 222) were divided into three groups based on their ECG data to determine whether there were dynamic changes in the fQRS complex from admission to follow-up at one month: the fQRS shallower group (n = 49), fQRS deeper group (n = 25) and fQRS unchanged group (n = 148).
