Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells have encouraging results in the treatment of hematological malignancies. However, CAR-T therapy still faces numerous challenges against solid tumors, such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), owing to heterogeneous antigen expression in tumor cells, limited persistence of CAR-T cells, etc. Therefore, to treat HCC more effectively, we connected the molecular receptor NKBB to a second-generation glypican-3 (GPC3) CAR to construct GC3328z-NKBB CAR-T cells, which have double specific targets of GPC3 and NKG2DLs (natural killer group 2, member D ligands), dual co-stimulation of CD28 and 41BB, and a single CD3ζ chain.

3D printed titanium scaffold has promising applications in orthopedics. However, the bioinert titanium presents challenges for promoting vascularization and tissue growth within the porous scaffold for stable osteointegration. In this study, a modular porous titanium scaffold is created using 3D printing and a gradient-surface strategy to immobilize QK peptide on the surface with a bi-directional gradient distribution.

Purpose: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an acute viral infection disease with a high mortality, but there are no specific effective drugs or vaccines available for use. To develop effective treatment methods, more basic researches are urgently needed to elucidate the response mechanisms of patients.
Patients And Methods: Here, we conducted the transcriptomic analysis of peripheral immunity in 14 SFTS patients, ranging from moderate infection to severe and fatal disease.

Introduction: Long-term use of chemical fertilizers (CFs) can cause soil compaction and acidification. In recent years, bio-organic fertilizers (BOFs) have begun to replace CFs in some vegetables and cash crops, but the application of CFs or BOFs has resulted in crop quality and disease occurrence.
Methods: This study aimed to analyze the microbial mechanism of differences between CFs and BOFs in root disease, quality, and yield of tuber Chinese herbal medicine.

Considering the significant role of commensal Neisseria carried in the pharynx on the variation of N.meningitidis and the acquisition of its resistance genes, understanding the true Neisseria population colonizing the human pharynx is of great significance. In this study, we carried out a five-month continuous survey of oropharyngeal carriage in a certain healthy population to reveal the long-term carriage status of different Neisseria species.

Background: Most coronary artery disease (CAD) risk loci identified by genome-wide association studies (GWAS) are located in non-coding regions, hampering the interpretation of how they confer CAD risk. It is essential to integrate GWAS with molecular traits data to further explore the genetic basis of CAD.
Methods: We used the probabilistic Mendelian randomization (PMR) method to identify potential proteins involved in CAD by integrating CAD GWAS data (∼76,014 cases and ∼264,785 controls) and human plasma proteomes (N = 35,559).

What Is Already Known About This Topic?: Brucellosis of the central nervous system (CNS) is rare and frequently fatal, often being overlooked or misdiagnosed.
What Is Added By This Report?: In April 2023, the Jinan CDC identified a case of CNS brucellosis in a 54-year-old woman through cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) culture. Upon confirming the diagnosis of brucellosis, the Jinan CDC immediately informed Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, to which the patient had been transferred, and she was subsequently tracked and successfully treated.

Background: EV71 is one of the important pathogens of Hand-foot-and-mouth disease (HFMD), which causes serious neurological symptoms. Several studies have speculated that there will be interaction between 5'UTR and 3D protein. However, whether 5'UTR interacts with the 3D protein in regulating virus replication has not been clarified.

As one of the most important disease vectors worldwide, ticks can transmit a number of pathogenic organisms to humans and domestic animals and cause a variety of important natural focal diseases and zoonoses. Domestic livestock play a vital role in the dispersal of ticks from the field environment to the human settlement, contributing to the prevalence of tick-borne diseases. Identification of the tick control region could contribute a vital role in strategic planning and cost-effective tick control measures.
