This nationwide prospective cohort study included 22,126 middle-aged and older adult participants of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS, 2011-2016), to explore the individual and joint associations between long-term exposure to various PM components (sulfate, nitrate, ammonium, organic matter, and black carbon) and depressive symptoms.
