Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major risk factor for liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Despite advances in understanding HBV-related liver diseases, effective therapeutic strategies remain limited. Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) has been implicated in various inflammatory and fibrotic conditions, but its role in HBV-induced liver fibrosis has not been fully explored.

How to address the resistance of cisplatin (CDDP) has always been a clinical challenge. The resistance mechanism of platinum-based drugs is very complex, including nuclear DNA damage repair, apoptosis escape, and tumor metabolism reprogramming. Tumor cells can switch between mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) and glycolysis and develop resistance to chemotherapy drugs through metabolic variability.

Cancer poses a significant threat to human life and health. Chemotherapy is currently one of the effective cancer treatments, but many chemotherapy drugs have cell toxicity, low solubility, poor stability, a narrow therapeutic window, and unfavorable pharmacokinetic properties. To solve the above problems, target drug delivery to tumor cells, and reduce the side effects of drugs, an anti-tumor drug delivery system based on tumor microenvironment has become a focus of research in recent years.

Proteolysis targeting chimeras (PROTACs) can use the intrinsic protein degradation system in cells to degrade pathogenic target proteins, and are currently a revolutionary frontier of development strategy for tumor treatment with small molecules. However, the poor water solubility, low cellular permeability, and off-target side effects of most PROTACs have prevented them from passing the preclinical research stage of drug development. This requires the use of appropriate delivery systems to overcome these challenging hurdles and ensure precise delivery of PROTACs towards the tumor site.

Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including the lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) subtypes, is a malignant tumor type with a poor 5-year survival rate. The identification of new powerful diagnostic biomarkers, prognostic biomarkers, and potential therapeutic targets in NSCLC is urgently required.
Methods: The UCSC Xena, UALCAN, and GEO databases were used to screen and analyze differentially expressed genes, regulatory modes, and genetic/epigenetic alterations in NSCLC.

Growing awareness acknowledges ambient fine particulate matter (PM) as an environmental risk factor for mental disorders, especially among older people. However, there remains limited evidence regarding which specific chemical components of PM may be more detrimental. This nationwide prospective cohort study included 22,126 middle-aged and older adult participants of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS, 2011-2016), to explore the individual and joint associations between long-term exposure to various PM components (sulfate, nitrate, ammonium, organic matter, and black carbon) and depressive symptoms.

The objective of this study was to investigate self-medication behavior among Chinese adolescents aged 12-18 years and explore the factors associated with whether adolescents prioritize drug efficacy or safety when engaging in self-medication behavior. In 2021, a questionnaire investigation was conducted in the Chinese mainland using a multi-stage sampling approach. After a statistical description, logistic regression was used to analyze the factors associated with considering drug efficacy and safety.

Background: Since few studies have incorporated factors like stressors, coping styles, and academic burnout into the same model to analyze their impacts on depressive symptoms, this research attempts to establish an optimal structural model to explore the direct and indirect effects of these factors on depressive symptoms.
Methods: A total of 266 postgraduates completed questionnaires regarding coping styles, academic burnout, stressors, and depressive symptoms. The path analysis was applied for investigating the roles of coping styles and academic burnout in mediating the relationship between stressors and depressive symptoms.

Data is limited on intestinal microbiota and metabolites in healthy residents exposed to cadmium (Cd), a population uniquely susceptible to Cd toxicity through contaminated foods. In this study, the 16 S rRNA gene sequencing, serum metabolomics and urine metabolomics were performed to examine the alterations of gut microbiota and metabolomics profile of wistar rats exposed to Cd. These findings indicated that Cd exposure markedly altered the structure of gut microbial community, reduced significantly microbiome diversity, and identified 5 phyla and 6 genera with significant changes.

Background: In recent years, virtual reality technology has developed the potential to help in the early detection of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). However, integrative evidence of its detection performance for mild cognitive impairment is lacking, and meta-analysis or systematic reviews are required to further determine the effectiveness of virtual reality technology in screening for MCI.
Methods: Literature searches were performed for MCI screening tests in the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PsycINFO, PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, and Scopus.
Purpose: To evaluate the impact of one-time high load exercise on skeletal muscle injury and analysis its mechanism in different genders.
Methods: Twenty-four male and 24 female rats were divided randomly into four groups respectively: control, 0 h, 6 h, and 24 h after exercise. The activities of creatine kinase (CK), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and myohemoglobin (MYO) in serum, the expression level of oxidative stress markers, mitochondrial respiratory chain complex enzyme, and the apoptosis related protein in quadriceps were detected.
