Chlorpyrifos (CPF), an organophosphorus pesticide, is detected commonly in environments, where it is thought to be highly toxic to non-target organisms. However, the mechanism of CYP450s pathway mediated by nuclear receptors on CPF-induced apoptosis and necroptosis at the cellular level and the effect of CPF on the cytotoxicity of the chicken hepatocarcinoma cell line (LMH) has also not been reported in detail. Therefore, this experiment aims to explore whether CPF can improve apoptosis and necroptosis in LMH cells by activating the nuclear receptors/CYP450s axis.

Salt stress and flowering time are major factors limiting geographic adaptation and yield productivity in soybean (Glycine max). Although improving crop salt tolerance and latitude adaptation are essential for efficient agricultural production, whether and how these two traits are integrated remains largely unknown. Here, we used a genome-wide association study to identify a major salt-tolerance locus controlled by E2, an ortholog of Arabidopsis thaliana GIGANTEA (GI).

Bisphenol A (BPA), a phenolic compound, is harmful to humans and animals as its residue in the water threatens multiple organs, especially the kidney. Low selenium (Se) diets are consumed in many regions of the world, and poor Se status has exacerbating effect on toxicity of several environmental chemicals. Here, we described the discovery path of Se deficiency aggravation on autophagy in BPA treated chicken kidney through regulating nitric oxide (NO) and adenosine monophosphate activated protein kinase (AMPK)/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathways.

Due to the requirement of melon yield, the cultivated seeds are overused with pesticides during the melon planting process, and the population characteristics are not considered, resulting in serious soil pesticide pollution during the melon planting process. Therefore, this study proposes an organic ecological pollution-free cultivation technology of melon considering population characteristics. The population characteristics of melon crops were determined by DNA molecular marker technology.

Wounds caused by accidents and surgery are inevitable, and inflammation and microbial infection during the healing process are serious clinical challenges, resulting in slow wound healing. In this study, we created a 37 °C-sensitive hydrogel using poloxamer, chitosan and hyaluronic acid, loaded with the active substance dihydromyricetin, and further evaluated its potential for wound healing. The hydrogels were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis for their micromorphological structure, characteristic functional groups, crystal structure and thermal stability, and in vitro drug release assays showed that the hydrogel could slowly release dihydromyricetin.

Microplastics (MPs) generally refer to the plastic fragments or particles smaller than 5 mm in diameter, which are closely concerned due to their widespread presence in the environment. Recent studies have shown that MPs have a serious threat on the reproductive health of organisms. Pigs are often selected as the model animals because of their high similarity to human tissues and organs.

Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) is a widely used industrial brominated flame retardant, which can endanger animal and human health, including cytotoxicity, endocrine disruption, reproductive toxicity and so on. Melatonin (MT) is a noteworthy free radical scavenger and an antioxidant to alleviate oxidative stress. To investigate the cytotoxic of TBBPA on swine testis cells (ST cells), as well as the antagonistic effect of MT, we established TBBPA exposure and MT antagonistic models, used flow cytometry and AO/EB staining methods to detect apoptosis and necroptosis, used DCFH-DA method to examine the content of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and investigated the expression of associated genes using RT-PCR and Western blot.

Genome-wide association study (GWAS) is based on the linkage disequilibrium (LD) between phenotypes and genetic markers covering the whole genome. Besides the genetic linkage between the genetic markers and the causal mutations, many other factors contribute to the LD, including selection and nonrandom mating formatting population structure. Many methods have been developed with accompany of corresponding software such as multiple loci mixed model (MLMM).

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common type of cancer-prevalent worldwide-and one of the causes of cancer-related deaths. In this study, ethanol extracts from Pholiota adiposa (EPA) were used to identify possible targets for HCC treatment and their effects on intestinal microflora were analyzed. Methods: Male mice were randomly assigned to groups-the model group, cyclophosphamide (25 mg/kg/d), and EPA groups, in which the mice were categorized based on the different concentrations of each compound (100, 200, and 300 mg/kg/day).

Climate change and stressful environmental conditions severely hamper crop growth, development and yield. Plants respond to environmental perturbations, through their plasticity provided by key-genes, governed at post-/transcriptional levels. Gene-regulation in plants is a multilevel process controlled by diverse cellular entities that includes transcription factors (TF), epigenetic regulators and non-coding RNAs beside others.

Adventitious rooting is an essential biological process in the vegetative propagation of economically important horticultural and forest tree species. It enables utilization of the elite genotypes in breeding programmes and production. Promotion of adventitious root (AR) formation has been associated with starvation of inorganic phosphate and some factors involved in low phosphorus (LP) signalling.

Manganese (Mn) poisoning can happen in the case of environmental pollution and occupational exposure. However, the underlying mechanisms of Mn-induced teste toxicity and whether mitochondrion and heat shock proteins (HSPs) are involved in toxic effect of Mn on chicken testes remain poorly understood. To investigate this, MnCl·4HO was administered in the diet (600, 900, and 1800 mg/kg Mn) of chickens for 30, 60, and 90 days.

Despite the wide clinical use of platinum drugs in cancer treatment, their severe side effects and lack of tumor selectivity seriously limit their further clinical application. To address the limitations of the current platinum drugs, herein a multifunctional platinum(IV) compound 1 containing a histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor (4-phenylbutyric acid, 4-PBA) and a tumor-targeting group (biotin) has been designed and prepared. An cytotoxicity study indicated that compound 1 exhibits comparable or superior cytotoxicity to cisplatin against the tested cancer cell lines, but greatly reduced toxicity in human normal liver LO2 cells, implying the potential tumor-targeting ability of compound 1.
