This study examined the elimination of sulfonamide antibiotics (SAs) by constructed wetland substrates with NaOH-modified corn straw biochar and assessed the impact of environmental conditions on the effectiveness of SAs removal. The study demonstrated that the constructed wetland substrate with NaOH-modified biochar significantly eliminated eight SAs, with a removal rate of over 94 %. During the removal process, the intermediates will undergo regeneration of the parent compounds under low DO concentrations.

To establish a rapid real-time RT-PCR method for differentiating wild-type classical swine fever virus (CSFV) strains from vaccine strains (HCLV), we designed a universal primer targeting the gene to detect wild-type CSFV strains and vaccine strains simultaneously, and two TaqMan-MGB probes were designed to differentiate between wild-type and vaccine strains. After optimizing the RT-qPCR conditions, a rapid dual TaqMan-MGB RT-qPCR method for the detection and identification of CSFV and HCLV was developed. The results showed that method could specifically detect CSFV and HCLV with no cross-reactivity with other swine pathogens.

Low temperature has been a major challenge for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) to maintain satisfied electrochemical performance, and the main reason is the deactivation of electrolyte with the decreasing temperature. To address this point, in present work, we develop a low-temperature resistant electrolyte which includes ethyl acetate (EA) and fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) as solvent and lithium difluoro(oxalato)borate (LiDFOB) as the primary lithium salt. Due to the preferential decomposition of LiDFOB and FEC, a solid electrolyte interface rich in LiF is formed on the lithium metal anodes (LMAs) and lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) cathodes, contributing to higher stability and rapid desolvation of Li ions.

Simple and rapid molecular detection technologies for authenticating animal species are urgently needed for food safety and authenticity. This study established a new direct-fast quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) detection technology for beef to achieve rapid and on-site nucleic acid detection in food. This technology can complete nucleic acid extraction in 4 min using a new type of food nucleic acid-releasing agent, followed by direct amplification of the DNA sample by fast qPCR in 25 min.

Nephrotoxicity remains a major adverse reaction of the anticancer drug cisplatin (CDDP) chemotherapy, which is an important risk factor for chronic renal disease. Ginsenoside Rh2 from Panax ginseng has been shown to protect against CDDP-induced nephrotoxicity in vivo, but its pharmacological effect on renal tubular epithelial cells is not clearly understood. This study examined the molecular mechanisms underlying the nephroprotective effects of Rh2 on CDDP-induced HK-2 cells and acute kidney injury (AKI) mice.

Globally, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), previously termed nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), is one of the most common liver disorders and is strongly associated with copper deficiency. To explore the potential effects and mechanisms of LPJZ-658, copper deficiency combined with a high-sugar diet-induced MASLD mouse model was utilized in this study. We fed 40-week-old (middle-aged) male C57BL/6 mice a copper-deficient and high-sugar diet for 16 weeks (CuDS), with supplementary LPJZ-658 for the last 6 weeks (CuDS + LPJZ-658).

Nanoplastics have now become a pervasive contaminant, being detected in various environmental media. However, our understanding of the specific toxicological effects of nanoplastics (NPs) on the kidneys remains unclear, which is a scientific problem that needs to be solved. To address this question, we employed two kidney cell lines as in vitro models to study the toxicological effects of NPs on porcine kidney cells.

Plants employ metal tolerance proteins (MTPs) to confer tolerance by sequestering excess ions into vacuoles. MTPs belong to the cation diffusion facilitator (CDF) family, which facilitates the transport of divalent transition metal cations. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the MTP gene families across 21 plant species, including maize (Zea mays).

Currently, foliar diseases of chili have significantly impacted both yield and quality. Despite effective advancements in deep learning techniques for the classification of chili leaf diseases, most existing classification models still face challenges in terms of accuracy and practical application in disease identification. Therefore, in this study, an optimized and enhanced convolutional neural network model named MCCM (MCSAM-ConvNeXt-MSFFM) is proposed by introducing ConvNeXt.

In agricultural production activities, the growth of crops always accompanies the competition of weeds for nutrients and sunlight. In order to mitigate the adverse effects of weeds on yield, we apply semantic segmentation techniques to differentiate between seedlings and weeds, leading to precision weeding. The proposed EPAnet employs a loss function coupled with Cross-entropy loss and Dice loss to enhance attention to feature information.

Chlorogenic acid (CGA) is an effective phenolic antioxidant that can scavenge hydroxyl radicals and superoxide anions. Herein, the protective effects and mechanisms leading to CGA-induced porcine parthenogenetic activation (PA) in early-stage embryos were investigated. Our results showed that 50 μM CGA treatment during the in vitro culture (IVC) period significantly increased the cleavage and blastocyst formation rates and improved the blastocyst quality of porcine early-stage embryos derived from PAs.

Objective: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is the most prevalent methylation of mRNA and plays crucial roles in various physiological processes, including pigmentation. Yet, the regulatory mechanisms, including long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) m6A methylation contributing to pigmentation in sheep skin remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to identify potential lncRNAs and the m6A methylation of lncRNAs associated with pigmentation.

Background: Biological control of insect pests is encountering an unprecedented challenge in agricultural systems due to the ongoing rise in carbon dioxide (CO) level. The use of entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) in these systems is gaining increased attention, and EPF as crop endophytes hold the potential for combining insect pest control and yield enhancement of crops, but the effects of increased CO concentration on this interaction are poorly understood. Here, the introduction of endophytic EPF was explored as an alternative sustainable management strategy benefiting crops under elevated CO, using maize (Zea mays), Asian corn borer (Ostrinia furnacalis), and EPF (Beauveria bassiana) to test changes in damage to maize plants from O.

Objective: Compared to Mimas pigeons, Shiqi pigeons exhibit greater tolerance to coarse feeding because of their abundant gut microbiota. Here, to investigate the potential of utilizing intestinal flora derived from Shiqi pigeons, the intestinal flora and body indices of Mimas squabs were evaluated after fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) from donors.
Methods: A total of 90 one-day-old squabs were randomly divided into the control group (CON), the low-concentration group (LC) and the high-concentration group (HC): gavaged with 200 μL of bacterial solution at concentrations of 0, 0.
