The objective of this study was to ascertain the evidence on ovarian cancer during pregnancy and compile recommendations derived from this information. This was a retrospective study, based on clinical histories from patients diagnosed and treated at 4 independent hospitals for ovarian cancer during pregnancy, between 1992 and 2009. The median age at diagnosis was 30 years (range, 24-41).

The tulobuterol patch (TP) is a beta(2)-adrenergic agonist with a favorable pharmacokinetic profile used for asthma management in Japan. Because it contains tulobuterol in a molecular, crystallized form that is gradually absorbed percutaneously, TP exerts a prolonged bronchodilator effect exceeding 24 hours. Although it is a well-established treatment for asthma and wheezing, few studies have investigated whether it can reduce or prevent the symptoms associated with upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs) in young children.

A case of a well-differentiated papillary mesothelioma of the tunica vaginalis testis in a 70-year-old man, who presented with a 1-month history of scrotal swelling with hydrocele, is described. Fine needle aspiration cytology of the hydrocele demonstrated a papillary cluster of uniform round cells with minimal atypia, reminiscent of mesothelial cells. Macroscopically, the lesion was characterized by a solitary, well-circumscribed papillary soft tumor measuring 1.

A very rare case of mesonephric adenocarcinoma with lobular mesonephric hyperplasia in the uterine cervix of a 46-year-old female is presented. The lesion was a 4 cm, exophytic, almost circumferential, whitish yellow, friable mass in the uterine cervix. Microscopically, the tumor was composed predominantly of atypical round to polygonal cells arranged in a ductal, tubular, or papillary pattern.

Composite hemangioendothelioma (HE) is a low-grade malignant vascular tumor showing varying combinations of benign, low-grade malignant, and malignant vascular components. The predominant histologic components are histologically identical to epithelioid HE and retiform HE. To our knowledge, there have been only 12 cases of composite HE reported in the English literature and its nature and biologic behavior remains unknown.

We report the 34th imported case of cutaneous myiasis caused by Dermatobia hominis in Japan, which is not a habitat of the fly. A 41-year-old Japanese man noticed an insect-sting-like papule on his left upper back during his stay in Ecuador in March 2004. After his return home, the lesion gradually increased to become a red subcutaneous nodule with a central pore from which serosanguineous fluid drained.

A case of low-grade central osteosarcoma of the skull in a 36-year-old male is described. A 10cm mass of the left temporo-occipital bone, which was incidentally found 6 years previously on the occasion of a head trauma, was osteolytic and osteoplastic, affecting soft tissues and the subdural space. The patient was treated with intralesional curettage.

A case of an epithelioid variant of pleomorphic liposarcoma (PL) arising in the back of a 72-year old male is presented. The lesion was a well-circumscribed but unencapsulated, yellowish white mass measuring 11 x 10 x 9 cm in the subcutis and muscle. Histologically, the tumor consisted of three elements; an epithelioid cell element occupying about 50%, a lipogenic and mixed lipogenic and epithelioid cell element occupying 40%, and a malignant fibrous histiocytoma-like element.

Context: Because there are differences in the origin, morphology, and natural history of hydropic placental villous issues, it is important to identify and document rare specimens that deviate from the diploid complete hydatidiform mole (CM), triploid partial hydatidiform mole (PM), or diploid hydropic abortion (HA). Tetraploid hydropic placentas have rarely been studied.
Objectives: To evaluate the frequency of p57Kip2 protein (p57) expression in tetraploid hydropic placentas and to determine its clinicopathologic significance.

Mass-like cystic endosalpingiosis is very rare. The author reports such a lesion with histologic features of endosalpingiosis of the uterus with florid epithelial proliferation in a 51-year-old female who complained of lower abdominal pain. Preoperatively, it was considered to be left-sided ovarian cancer.

Background: Determinations of serum levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA) are widely used for the detection of prostate cancer, but have not demonstrated sufficient sensitivity and specificity to be useful in urological practice. In order to enhance the diagnostic value of serum PSA, we studied the distribution of serum PSA levels by age in urological patients without clinical evidence of prostate cancer and determined clinical PSA reference values by age decades.
Methods: The study included a total of 590 male patients aged 40 to 89 years who visited our urological clinic complaining of voiding symptoms from January 1991 to October 1994, but had no clinically evident prostate cancer.
