Home blood pressure (BP) measurement is widely used, and home BP plays a central role in hypertension management in clinical practice in Japan. We updated the systematic review to determine whether home BP-based antihypertensive treatment is superior to office BP-based treatment in improving clinical outcomes, including BP levels, in adult patients with essential hypertension. A literature search identified 14 randomized controlled trials (RCTs).

Background: Hypertension is a risk factor for bleeding events and is included in the HAS-BLED (Hypertension, Abnormal renal/liver function, Stroke, Bleeding history or predisposition, Labile INR, Elderly, Drugs/Alcohol concomitantly)score. However, the effects of blood pressure (BP) and changes in BP on bleeding events in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) remain poorly understood. This study is aimed to investigate the relationship between systolic BP (SBP) changes during hospitalisation and bleeding events in patients undergoing PCI.

Regulation of Branchial Anoctamin 1 Expression in Freshwater- and Seawater-Acclimated Japanese Medaka, Oryzias latipes.

J Exp Zool A Ecol Integr Physiol

December 2024

Departement of Biology, Faculty of Science, Academic Assembly, University of Toyama, Gofuku, Toyama, Japan.

In euryhaline teleosts, the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) in seawater (SW)-type chloride cells facilitates apical Cl secretion for SW adaptation, while alternative Cl excretion pathways remain understudied. This study investigates the role of the calcium-activated chloride channel, Anoctamin 1 (ANO1), in the gills of the euryhaline Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes) under hyperosmolality and cortisol (CORT) influence. Acclimation to artificial SW, NaCl, mannitol, or glucose significantly upregulated ANO1 and CFTR mRNA expression in gills, unlike urea treatment.

Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Saitama Medical Center, Jichi Medical University, 1-847 Amanuma, Omiya-ku, Saitama, Saitama, 330-8503, Japan.

Bioresorbable scaffolds (BRS) were developed as an innovative solution to overcome the limitations of metallic stents. While polymeric BRS initially demonstrated comparable clinical outcomes to drug-eluting stent (DES) in clinical trials, subsequent large-scale studies revealed that patients implanted with polymeric BRS experienced higher rates of scaffold thrombosis (ScT) and target lesion failure compared to those with metallic stents. Resorbable magnesium scaffolds (RMS) have emerged as a promising alternative owing to magnesium's natural degradability and favorable mechanical properties.

Background: MECP2 Duplication Syndrome, also known as X-linked intellectual developmental disorder Lubs type (MRXSL; MIM: 300260), is a neurodevelopmental disorder caused by copy number gains spanning MECP2. Despite varying genomic rearrangement structures, including duplications and triplications, and a wide range of duplication sizes, no clear correlation exists between DNA rearrangement and clinical features. We had previously demonstrated that up to 38% of MRXSL families are characterized by complex genomic rearrangements (CGRs) of intermediate complexity (2 ≤ copy number variant breakpoints < 5), yet the impact of these genomic structures on regulation of gene expression and phenotypic manifestations have not been investigated.
