A novel approach for the solvothermal liquefaction of corn starch (CS) was investigated, using ternary deep eutectic solvent (TDES) as both an acidic catalyst and a source of liquefaction reagent. Synergistic effects from multi-component TDES were observed, leading to milder reaction conditions (110 °C, 35 min) and improved product selectivity (relative content of polyhydroxy compounds up to 97.83 %).

This work aimed to investigate the pharmacokinetics of six major blood-entering components(triptolide, triptophenolide, wilforgine, wilforine, tripterine, and wilforlide A) in Tripterygium wilfordii Polyglycosides Tablets(TWPT) between normal rats and the rat model of adjuvant arthritis, which was established by injection of Freund's complete adjuvant. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS) was employed to determine the content of six main components in the serum samples of normal and arthritic rats after administration of TWPT, and the pharmacokinetics of the six components were compared between normal and model rats. The specificity, linearity, accuracy, precision, stability, extraction recovery and matrix effect of the established LC-MS method all met the requirements.

An efficient method for construction of various fluorenones has been achieved via Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H activation/[4 + 2] annulation/aromatization sequences of simple and readily available enaminones and 1,3-dienes. This protocol showed good substrate compatibility as an array of structurally and electronically diverse fluorenones prepared efficiently in moderate to good yields and preparative scale utility showing very good efficiency in the late-stage functionalization of complex valuable molecules.

Anthracycline antitumor drug doxorubicin (DOX) induces severe cardiotoxicity. Deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) are crucial for protein stability and function and play a significant role in cardiac pathophysiology. By comparing RNA sequencing datasets and conducting functional screening, we determined that Myb-like, SWIRM, and MPN domains 1 (MYSM1) is a key regulator of DOX-induced cardiotoxicity.

Background: Herpes zoster (HZ) is a common condition that causes severe pain mostly in middle-aged and older adults. It is currently treated with a combination of medication and surgery. However, some patients do not experience complete pain relief even after surgery and often experience a period of mild pain until a complete cure.

Background: Visceral pain is common in cesarean sections conducted under combined spinal-epidural anesthesia (CSE). Epidural volume extension (EVE) is a technique for enhancing the effect of intrathecal blocks by inducing epidural fluid boluses in the CSE. Whether EVE that uses different drugs can reduce visceral pain during cesarean sections is rarely studied.

The advancement in fluorescent probe technology for visualizing nuclear morphology and nucleic acid distribution in live cells and has attracted considerable interest within the biomedical research community, as it offers invaluable insights into cellular dynamics across various physiological and pathological contexts. In this study, we present a novel two-photon nucleus-imaging fluorescent probe called Nu-red, which is a typical donor(D)-π-acceptor(A) rotor composed of the donor (dihydroquinoline) and acceptor (pyridiniumylpentadienitrile) parts linked by a single bond. This probe offers several advantages, including long-wavelength excitation and emission (λ/λ = 610/664 nm), favorable quantum yields (1.

Hydroperoxides of unsaturated membrane lipids (LOOHs) are the most abundant non-radical intermediates generated by photodynamic therapy (PDT) of soft tissues such as tumors and have far longer average lifetimes than singlet oxygen or oxygen radicals formed during initial photodynamic action. LOOH-initiated post-irradiation damage to remaining membrane lipids (chain peroxidation) or to membrane-associated proteins remains largely unrecognized. Such after-light processes could occur during clinical oncological PDT, but this is not well-perceived by practitioners of this therapy.

Background: The prognosis of cancers is strongly connected with nitrogen metabolism (NM), which plays a critical role in the microenvironment and growth of tumors. It is unsubstantiated, however, how important NM-related genes are for the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Methods: Using publicly available data, we examined potential mechanisms of NM-related genes in HCC, created a predictive model, and assessed immune infiltration and medication sensitivity.

Background: In recent years, machine learning (ML)-based models have been widely used in clinical domains to predict clinical risk events. However, in production, the performances of such models heavily rely on changes in the system and data. The dynamic nature of the system environment, characterized by continuous changes, has significant implications for prediction models, leading to performance degradation and reduced clinical efficacy.

In this work, the annulation of acyl nitrene with alkynes is reported under photoredox/iron dual-catalysis for the synthesis of a series of isoquninalin-2-ones. The reaction is featured with a high reaction regioselectivity and good reaction generality. In particular, the resulting isoquinalin-2-ones could be structurally elaborated into several biologically interesting scaffolds.

Hygroscopic materials based on highly hygroscopic salts are promising for atmospheric water harvesting (AWH), but the metal- or halide-containing highly hygroscopic salts often have leakage and corrosion issues. Here, the design and synthesis of metal- and halide-free, highly hygroscopic, and macroporous polymers from [2-(acryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride simply via in situ foaming, solidification, and ion exchange are reported. The resulting polymers exhibit highly interconnected macroporous structure, robust compression, and leakage-free performance, and they also demonstrate relatively high moisture adsorption capacities (up to 1.

A quadrangular prism-like oxidized tin sulfide catalyst with abundant sulfur vacancies was designed and synthesized for the COER. The quadrangular prism-like structure is utilized to increase the stability, while vacancy engineering is used to improve the activity and selectivity of the catalyst. The catalyst exhibits exceptional electrocatalytic activity for CO reduction to HCOO, achieving up to 95% faradaic efficiency for HCOO and maintaining stability for up to 36 hours at -1.

Background: Recent studies have indicated the role of the gut microbiota in the progression of osteoarticular diseases, however, the causal relationship between the gut microbiota and pyogenic arthritis remains unclear. There is also a lack of theoretical basis for the application of the gut microbiota in the treatment of pyogenic arthritis.
Methods: In our study, we utilized the largest genome-wide association study (GWAS) data from the MiBioGen Consortium involving 13,400 participants and extracted summary statistical data of the microbiota metabolic pathways of 7,738 participants of European descent from the Dutch Microbiome Project (DMP) The data of pyogenic arthritis were derived from the FinnGen R10 database, including 1,086 patients and 147,221 controls.

All-polymer organic solar cells (OSCs) have shown unparalleled application potential in the field of flexible wearable electronics in recent years due to the excellent mechanical and photovoltaic properties. However, the small molecule acceptors after polymerization in still retain some mechanical and aggregation properties of the small molecule, falling short of the ductility requirements for flexible devices. Here, based on the multimodal energy dissipation theory, the mechanical and photovoltaic properties of flexible devices are co-enhanced by adding the thermoplastic elastomer material (polyurethane, PU) to the PM6:PBQx-TF:PY-IT-based active layer films.

Giant cell tumor of soft tissue (GCT-ST) is an extremely rare phenomenon in the breast. Herein, a case involving a 75-year-old female with a painless lump and bloody discharge from the nipple of her left breast is reported. A diagnosis of malignant tumor was arrived at by observing the location of the tumor, interior echo, margins, vascular distribution, hardness, and microvascular density on preoperative multimodal ultrasonography.
