Objective: To examine the association between air pollution and neonatal congenital heart disease (CHD), and evaluate the cumulative burden of CHD attributed to above certain level for ambient air pollution exposure.
Methods: We identified newborns who were diagnosed as CHD by echocardiography in Network Platform for Congenital Heart Disease (NPCHD) from January 2019 to December 2020 in 11 cities eastern China. The exposure lag response relationship between air pollutants (PM, PM, SO, NO, CO, and O) concentration and CHDs was calculated by the distributed lag nonlinear model (DLNM).

Among different types of congenital heart diseases, ventricular septal defect is the most frequently diagnosed type and is frequently missed in early prenatal screening programs. Herein, we explored the role of maternal serum-derived exosomes in detecting and predicting ventricular septal defect in fetuses in the early stage of pregnancy. A total of 104 pregnant women consisting of 52 ventricular septal defect cases and 52 healthy controls were recruited.

Resistance to apoptosis is a key mechanism underlying how cancer cells evade tumor therapy. Autophagy can prevent anticancer drug-induced apoptosis and promote tumor resistance. The purpose of this study was to improve the sensitivity and efficacy of chemotherapeutic drugs through the inhibition of autophagy.

Background: Previous studies have indicated that the programmed death molecule 1 (PD-1) signaling pathway may play a key role in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis-related interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) is not clear. We examined the serum levels of soluble PD-1 in patients with RA and its relationship with RA-ILD.

Background: This study aimed to retrospectively analyze the correlation between congenital abnormality of the urogenital system and various factors in children with neural tube defects (NTDs).
Methods: A total of 190 children with congenital NTDs, who were admitted to a hospital from May 2013 to May 2018, were included into the present study. All admitted children with congenital NTDs were carried out routine abdominal B-ultrasound examinations to determine the malformations of the abdominal organs, including the urinary system.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the application of a three-dimensional (3D) visualization technique and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) for diagnosis of pediatric congenital choledochal cysts.
Methods: Thin slices of coronal heavily T2-weighted pulse sequences of MRI pertaining to 35 patients were retrospectively used to reconstruct 3D models. Diagnoses and variants of the biliary system were evaluated based on the 3D models and MRCP imaging.

The mechanism underlying the association between age and depletion of the human ovarian follicle reserves remains uncertain. Many identified that impaired DNA polymerase β (Pol β)-mediated DNA base-excision repair (BER) drives to mouse oocyte aging. With aging, DNA lesions accumulate in primordial follicles.

Environmental endocrine disruptors (EEDs) are natural or synthetic chemical compounds that interfere with normal endocrine function in both wildlife and humans. Previous studies have indicated that EEDs may contribute to oncogenesis. This study explores the relationship between EEDs and pediatric germ cell tumors (GCTs).

Interacting with proteins is a crucial way for long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) to exert their biological responses. Here we report a high throughput strategy to characterize lncRNA interacting proteins in vivo by combining tobramycin affinity purification and mass spectrometric analysis (TOBAP-MS). Using this method, we identify 140 candidate binding proteins for lncRNA highly upregulated in liver cancer (HULC).

Background: Less invasive surfactant administration (LISA) is a way of giving surfactant without endotracheal intubation and has shown to be promising in reducing the incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in preterm infants. However, the mechanism underlying its beneficial effect and variations in the technique of administration may prevent its widespread use. This trial aims to evaluate the effects of two methods of surfactant administration, LISA or endotracheal surfactant administration followed by low peak pressure (LPPSA) ventilation, in preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS).

Purpose: It is well known that congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) in infants impacts pulmonary function rehabilitation after surgery. However, the risk factors of postoperative pulmonary function are still unclear. In this research, we analyzed the potential risk factors of postoperative pulmonary function in CDH patients in order to improve the clinical management of CDH patients.
