Background: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is a common birth defect. Our previous studies suggest that indoor air pollution, especially total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), may increase fetal CHD risk, whereas vitamin and folic acid (FA) supplements in early pregnancy might offer protection against CHD. However, limited research has explored whether FA or multivitamin supplementation can mitigate the effects of TVOCs exposure on CHD.

Background: Fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) vascular hyperintensity (FVH) might be useful for predicting and functional outcome in ischemic stroke patients after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT), but its clinical benefit remains controversial. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the association of FVH on prognosis in ischemic stroke patients who received EVT.
Methods: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Wanfang databases were searched for potentially eligible studies published up to March 2024.

Immunotherapy has made excellent breakthroughs in the field of cancer treatments, but faces challenges with low immunogenicity of tumor cells and an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (ITME). The emerging chemodynamic therapy (CDT) based on the Fenton/Fenton-like reaction can induce immunogenic cell death (ICD) to enhance tumor immunogenicity, facilitating the transition from immune-cold to immune-hot tumors. Synergistic CDT and immunotherapy based on advanced nanotechnology have shown immense promise for improving therapeutic efficacy while minimizing side effects in cancer treatment.

As an emerging cancer therapeutic modality, ion-interference therapy (IIT), mediated by the elevated levels of intracellular calcium ions (Ca), hasgarneredsignificant research attention in the field of cancer theranostics. However, most reported IIT strategies have heavily relied on Ca-based inorganic compounds, such as calcium peroxide and calcium carbonate, whose biosafety remains under investigation due to their high density and uncertainbiodegradability. This study describes a novel strategy for efficiently encapsulating doxorubicin (DOX) andCa using the CaSO gradient method fordrugremote loading.

Objective: This study aimed to develop a nomogram to predict adverse outcomes in neonates with necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).
Methods: In this retrospective study on neonates with NEC, data on perinatal characteristics, clinical features, laboratory findings, and x-ray examinations were collected for the included patients. A risk model and its nomogram were developed using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression analyses.

This study used meta-analysis to examine the role of baseline absolute lymphocyte count (ALC) in the prognosis of advanced breast cancer (ABC) or metastatic breast cancer (MBC). A comprehensive search encompassing PubMed, The Cochrane Library, Embase, and Web of Science databases was undertaken to identify and screen literature based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Progression-free survival (PFS), time to treatment failure (TTF), post-progression survival (PPS), and overall survival (OS) were selected as outcome measures.

Animal personalities play a crucial role in invasion dynamics. During the invasion process, the behavioral strategies of native species vary among personalities, just as the invasive species exhibit variations in behavior strategies across personalities. However, the impact of personality interactions between native species and invasive species on behavior and growth are rarely illustrated.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common pathological type of thyroid cancer (THCA) and shows a better prognosis than other types. However, further research is needed to determine the risk of PTC. We herein used the CIBERSORT algorithm to analyze the gene-expression profile obtained from TCGA, estimated the infiltration ratio of 22 immune cell types in tumor tissues and normal tissues, analyzed the differential expression of immune-related genes, and identified immune cells and immune-related genes related to clinical progress and prognosis.

Background: To train highly qualified medical talent in 5-year programs and improve students' analytical and problem-solving abilities, it is necessary to change the traditional teaching method. This study introduces the combined teaching method of case-based learning (CBL) and clinical pathway and evaluates its role in practical gynecological teaching.
Methods: Medical students in a 5-year program who were enrolled in the fourth year were selected as the research subjects; these students were randomized into two groups that separately received either the traditional teaching method or the combined teaching method of CBL and clinical pathway.

To assess the clinical features and effectiveness of antiviral therapy in newborns with sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) caused by congenital congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) infection, and to speculate the risk factors for poor hearing outcomes. A multicenter prospective cohort study wasconducted, enrolling 176 newborns diagnosed with cCMV at four research centers in Zhejiang Province from March 1, 2021, to April 30, 2024. Clinical characteristics at birth were recorded and hearing was followed up.

Background: Cluster of differentiation 38 (CD38) has been found to be highly expressed in various solid tumours, and its expression level may be associated with patient prognosis and survival. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of CD38 expression for patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and construct two computed tomography (CT)-based radiomics models for predicting CD38 expression.
Methods: A total of 333 cases of EOC were enrolled from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database for CD38-related bioinformatics and survival analysis.

Axillary staging is commonly performed via sentinel lymph node biopsy for patients with early breast cancer (EBC) presenting with clinically negative axillary lymph nodes (cN0). The present study aimed to investigate the association between axillary lymph node metastasis (ALNM), clinicopathological characteristics of tumors and results from axillary ultrasound (US) scanning. Moreover, a nomogram model was developed to predict the risk for ALNM based on relevant factors.

The current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) remains a threat to pregnant women. However, the impact of early pregnancy SARS-CoV-2 infection on the maternal-fetal interface remains poorly understood. Here, we present a comprehensive analysis of single-cell transcriptomics and metabolomics in placental samples infected with SARS-CoV-2 during early pregnancy.
