The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a substantial threat to people's lives and health due to its high infectivity and rapid spread. Computed tomography (CT) scan is one of the important auxiliary methods for the clinical diagnosis of COVID-19. However, CT image lesion edge is normally affected by pixels with uneven grayscale and isolated noise, which makes weak edge detection of the COVID-19 lesion more complicated.

Objective: Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is one of the most common chronic complications of diabetes, leading to disability and decreased quality of life. In past research and clinical studies, the lower limb function of DPN patients was often the principal subject of research, with little attention given to the upper limb and hand. Our goal was to assess and compare hand function between elderly diabetic patients with DPN and without DPN.

The importance of miRNA prognostic signature in cancer, particular cancer metastasis is increasingly being realized. Bone metastasis from several primary human cancers can be managed in clinics by surgical intervention but the prognostic impact of miRNA signature on post-surgery outcome of patients is unknown. This study evaluated a miRNA signature for post-operative outcome of patients with bone metastatic disease.

Background: The aim of this review was to explore the quality assessment checklists development methods in previous researches using standardized patients (SPs), as well as to propose an evidence-based checklist development procedure for quality assessment of common conditions in primary health care (PHC) settings.

Methods: We conducted a systematic review of studies that described checklist development method and extracted the methodology in terms of the developer, the basis and processes. Based on that, we formulated the development procedure according to the recommendations of the WHO Handbook for Guideline Development.

Department of Nephrology, First Medical Center of Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital, Nephrology Institute of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, Beijing Key Laboratory of Kidney Disease Research, Beijing, China.

Background: Patients with both diabetes mellitus (DM) and kidney disease could have diabetic nephropathy (DN) or non-diabetic renal disease (NDRD). IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and membranous nephropathy (MN) are the major types of NDRD. No ideal noninvasive diagnostic model exists for differentiating them.

Cross-communication between cancer cells and macrophages within the tumor microenvironment fulfills the critical roles in the progression of cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Ligustilide exerts anti-inflammation, anti-injury, and anti-tumor pleiotropic pharmacological functions. Nevertheless, its roles in HCC cells and tumor microenvironment remain elusive.

Cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is the common symptom of ischemic stroke, which poses a heavy burden to human health. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) is indicated to be a critical regulator in cerebral ischemia. This study aims to reveal the effects of lncRNA small nucleolar RNA host gene 15 (SNHG15) on oxygen-glucose deprivation and reoxygenation (OGD/R)-induced neuron injury and underlying mechanism.

Background: Long intergenic non-coding RNAs (lincRNAs) are capable of regulating several tumours, while competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) networks are of great significance in revealing the biological mechanism of tumours. Here, we aimed to study the ceRNA network of lincRNA in glioblastoma (GBM).

Methods: We obtained GBM and normal brain tissue samples from TCGA, GTEx, and GEO databases, and performed weighted gene co-expression network analysis and differential expression analysis on all lincRNA and mRNA data.

Rationale: Some acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients are unresponsive to treatment or have remission followed by worsening of disease (known as relapsed/refractory AML [R/RAML]) after standardized treatment. The CAG/HAG regimen is not often used clinically because heterogenous patient responses, resistance, and hematopoietic bone marrow dysfunction have been reported with its use. We present 2 cases of R/RAML treated with a new combined therapy (venetoclax+ hypomethylating agents [HMAs]) in which the HAG dose was adjusted and effective in the first course of treatment.

Ischemia reperfusion (I/R) injury is a key contributing factor to the pathogenic mechanism involved in cerebral infarction. Transmembrane protein 126b (TMEM126B), a mitochondrial complex I assembly factor, has been reported to have an intimate association with disease progression, but is little known in ischemia stroke. The present study was designed to explore the effects of TEME126B on oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R)-induced neuronal PC12 cells.
