Background: With the elevated level of NAFLD prevalence, the incidence of diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome and other diseases is also significantly elevated. GLP-1RA can exert weight loss, glucose-lowering effects and various nonglycaemic effects. However, the relationship between quantitative reduction in hepatic fat content and improvement of pancreatic islet function by GLP-1RA is unclear.

To avoid postoperatively acquired cholesteatoma, whether there was any squamous epithelial tissues residue around the tip of the malleus handle, and the need to remove these tissues were explored. This prospective study enrolled 197 patients who underwent endoscopic tympanoplasty. A postoperative pathological evaluation of the tissue around the tip of the malleus handle was performed to determine the presence of squamous epithelium.

Purpose: Since the introduction of ceftazidime-avibactam (CZA) in the Chinese market, accumulating clinical evidence has substantiated its efficacy in the treatment of infections caused by carbapenem-resistant gram-negative bacteria (CR-GNB). Nevertheless, an ongoing debate persists concerning the choice between monotherapy and combination therapy when devising clinical anti-infection protocols.
Patients And Methods: This retrospective, single-center observational study enrolled patients with CR-GNB infections who received CZA treatment between December 2019 and August 2023.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a fatal X-linked recessive disorder, which is caused mostly by frame-disrupting, out-of-frame variation in the dystrophin (DMD) gene. Loss-of- function mutations are the most common type of mutation in DMD, accounting for approximately 60-90% of all DMD variations. In this study, we used adenine base editing to generate a human embryonic stem cell line with splice-site mutations to mimic exon deletion variants in clinical Duchenne muscular dystrophy patients.

Background: Interferon-α-1b, interleukin-2 combined with thalidomide (ITI) improved the outcome and prognosis of some acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients, but the cases was insufficient. This study observed the efficacy and safety of this regimen in the treatment of numbers of AML patients in various disease states.
Methods: Starting in January 2014, patients with AML (n=188) were treated with ITI regimen, including 60 refractory/relapses patients in group A, 40 patients in group B remained minimal residual disease-positive (MRD) or changed from negative to positive again after consolidation therapy, and 88 patients in group C with initial complete remission of AML received the ITI treatment after routine consolidation therapy.

Background: Previous randomised trials of bivalirudin versus heparin in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) have reported conflicting results, in part because of treatment with different pharmacological regimens. We designed a large-scale trial examining bivalirudin with a post-PCI high-dose infusion compared with heparin alone, the regimens that previous studies have shown to have the best balance of safety and efficacy.
Methods: BRIGHT-4 was an investigator-initiated, open-label, randomised controlled trial conducted at 87 clinical centres in 63 cities in China.

Background: Intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS) is one of the leading causes of stroke worldwide. Current diagnostic evaluations and treatments remain insufficient to assess the vulnerability of intracranial plaques and reduce the recurrence of stroke in symptomatic ICAS. On the other hand, asymptomatic ICAS is associated with an increased risk of cognitive impairment.

As pyroptosis is involved in a number of inflammatory reactions, in this report, we investigated the potential for NOD1 to affect pyroptosis. We found that an increased expression of NOD1 during IRI was related to activation of the pyroptotic signaling pathway.

Background: Reports in recent years have shown that pancreatic β-cell pyroptosis represents a critical mechanism involved with the progressive failure of pancreatic function. Previous research from our laboratory has indicated that artemether can increase the number of cells in pancreatic islets of db/db mice. In this study, we further examined whether artesunate (ART) protects pancreatic β-cells from the damage of streptozotocin (STZ) by inhibiting pyroptosis.
