Department of Urology, Zhongda Hospital, Southeast University, No. 87 Dingjiaqiao, Hunan Road, Gulou District, Nanjing, 210009, China.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the impact of aging on bladder cancer progression and the immune response, aiming to identify prognostic markers and potential immunotherapeutic targets related to aging-immune genes.
  • - Researchers analyzed publicly available data to find key aging-immune related genes (AIGs) in bladder cancer and developed a risk-prognosis model based on these genes, specifically highlighting NFKB1 and IL7 as significant indicators of prognosis and immune response.
  • - The findings revealed that certain AIGs correlate with the immune microenvironment and treatment responses, with specific clusters indicating varying risk levels; confirmation through patient samples showed underexpression of IL7 and NFKB1 in bladder cancer.

High expression of ADAR mediated by OGT promotes chemoresistance in colorectal cancer through the A-to-I editing pathway.

Mol Genet Genomics

November 2024

Department of Laboratory Medicine, Institute of Translational Medicine, Medical College, Yangzhou University, Yangzhou, Jiangsu, 225001, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a serious disease with poor treatment outcomes, and this study focuses on how OGT-mediated glycosylation affects ADAR, which contributes to CRC's resistance to chemotherapy.
  • The research used various molecular biology techniques to show that OGT regulates ADAR, ultimately stabilizing it and leading to increased cancer cell resistance by enhancing the stability and translation of mRNAs related to DNA repair.
  • The findings indicate that elevated OGT levels boost chemoresistance in CRC by upregulating ADAR and PARP1 expression, suggesting potential strategies to combat drug resistance in colorectal cancer treatment.

Institute of Clinical Pharmacology, Anhui Medical University, Key Laboratory of Anti-Inflammatory and Immune Medicine, Ministry of Education, Anhui Collaborative Innovation Centre of Anti-Inflammatory and Immune Medicine, Center of Rheumatoid Arthritis of Anhui Medical University, Hefei 230032, China. Electronic address:

Background: Synovial hypoxia, a critical pathological characteristic of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), significantly contributes to synovitis and synovial hyperplasia. In response to hypoxic conditions, fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) undergo adaptive changes involving gene expression modulation, with hypoxia-inducible factors (HIF) playing a pivotal role. The regulation of BCL2/adenovirus e1B 19 kDa protein interacting protein 3 (BNIP3) and nucleotide-binding oligomerization segment-like receptor family 3 (NLRP3) expression has been demonstrated to be regulated by HIF-1.

Exosome-transmitted circ_002136 promotes hepatocellular carcinoma progression by miR-19a-3p/RAB1A pathway.

BMC Cancer

December 2022

Department of Hematology and Oncology (Key Discipline of Jiangsu Medicine), Medical School, Zhongda Hospital, Southeast University, Dingjiaqiao No.87, Gulou District, 210009 Nanjing, Jiangsu, Nanjing, People's Republic of China.

Background: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are enriched in exosomes and are extremely stable. Exosome-mediated intercellular transfer of specific biologically active circRNA molecules can drive the transformation of the tumor microenvironment and accelerate or inhibit the local spread and multifocal growth of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In this study, we explored in depth about the biological roles of HCC cell-derived exosomes and exosome-transported circRNAs on HCC in vivo and in vitro.

Electronic address:

G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) kinases (GRKs) and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) play key roles in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Several studies have demonstrated that HIF-1α expression is positively regulated by GRK2, suggesting its posttranscriptional effects on HIF-1α. In this study, we review the role of HIF-1α and GRK2 in RA pathophysiology, focusing on their proinflammatory roles in immune cells and fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS).

Background: Sexual dysfunction, namely, erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE), has been found to be associated with abnormal structural connectivity in the brain. Previous studies have mainly focused on a single disorder, however, convergent and divergent structural connectivity patterns of the brain network between ED and PE remain poorly understood.

Methods: T1-weighted structural data and diffusion tensor imaging data of 28 patients with psychological ED, 28 patients with lifelong PE (LPE), and 28 healthy controls (HCs) were obtained to map the white matter (WM) brain networks.

December 2021

Department of Operating Room, The Affiliated Jianhu Hospital of Nantong University, Jianhu People's Hospital, Jianhu, Jiangsu Province, China.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is considered as a common malignancy worldwide. Considerable evidence has illustrated that abnormally expressed long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are in a close correlation with the initiation and progression of various tumors, including HCC. LncRNA small nucleolar RNA host gene 22 (SNHG22) has been reported to play important roles in tumor initiation, but its role and mechanism are little known in HCC.
