The Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma products processed with different methods, including raw materials(S) and products processed with honey according to the method in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia(Z) and Jianchangbang method(M), were analyzed in terms of the odor profile and volatile components by the electronic nose and headspace-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(HS-GC-MS). The differential components in the three products were screened by chemometrics, on the basis of which the relative odor activity value(ROAV) was adopted to elucidate the odor differences among different products and the material basis of their odors. The results showed that the electronic nose effectively distinguished the products of Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma processed with different methods.

This study utilized ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF-MS) to rapidly analyze and identify the chemical constituents in five processed products of Strychni Semen(raw, sand-roasted, fried, urine-soaked, and vinegar-processed products). Using PeakView software to extract compound information, 50 chemical components were identified based on retention time, accurate molecular ion peaks, secondary mass spectrometry data, and comparison with reference standards and relevant literature. Specifically, 41 components were identified in raw Strychni Semen, 48 in sand-roasted, 43 in fried, 41 in urine-soaked, and 40 in vinegar-processed products.

This method significantly reduces the toxicity of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), moderates medicinal properties, and enhances clinical efficacy. However, modern scientific research has given it limited attention, and many co-production methods of "solid-liquid excipients" have not been applied in production and practice.

Cognitive impairment is a critical non-motor symptom of Parkinson's Disease (PD) that profoundly affects patients' quality of life. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has emerged as a valuable tool for investigating the structural and functional brain changes associated with cognitive impairment in PD (PD-CI). MRI techniques enable the precise identification and monitoring of the onset and progression of cognitive deficits in PD.

Objectives: To assess the association between thyroid dysfunction and diabetic retinopathy (DR), a two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) study utilizing the Genome-wide Association Study (GWAS) database was conducted to investigate the causal relationship between these two variables.
Methods: In this study, GWAS of 48,328,151 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNP) in the European population from the IEU open GWAS database were utilized as genetic tools for investigating thyroid dysfunction. The total sample size for the study on hyperthyroidism was 460,499 (case group: 3557; control group: 456,942).

The pharmacological effects of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) are closely associated with the processing procedures, which involve a multitude of intricate chemical reactions. Real-time monitoring of the dynamic changes in chemical constituents during TCM processing plays a pivotal role in ensuring quality control of TCM products. Herein, a neutral desorption atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry (ND-APCI-MS) method was developed for online monitoring of the TCM processing.

Observational data have consistently pointed towards an associative relationship between cathepsins and the development of RA. Nonetheless, the establishment of a definitive causal nexus between members of the cathepsin family and the pathogenesis of RA remains elusive.

Background: Trichophyton rubrum is a widespread human pathogenic fungus, colonizing keratinized tissue of outer body-parts. Thereby, the pathogen is relying on nutrients available from the host. The invasive mechanism of the pathogen is relaying on secreted proteases, which hydrolyze skin-proteins for subsequent up-take.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) and psoriasis are highly correlated clinically; however, it is unclear whether they have a common pathophysiological mechanism. The purpose of this study is to investigate the important molecules and pathways that mediate the coexistence of UC and psoriasis through quantitative bioinformatics analysis of public RNA-sequencing databases. The UC (GSE38713) and psoriasis (GSE30999) datasets were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database.

Background: Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), including leucine, isoleucine, and valine, are essential amino acids involved in protein synthesis, energy metabolism, and immune regulation. While BCAAs are known to influence cancer biology, their role in leukemia remains unclear. This study employs Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to explore the causal relationship between BCAA levels and four leukemia subtypes: acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a highly aggressive malignancy with rising mortality rates globally. Its diagnosis is often challenging due to its asymptomatic nature in the early stages. Consequently, most patients receive a poor prognosis, with low survival rates within 5 years, as the disease is typically detected at an advanced stage, complicating effective treatment.

In object detection algorithms, the bounding box regression (BBR) loss directly influences the model's accuracy in predicting object positions. Initially, we conducted simulation experiments on the proposed intersection over union-based loss. Through in-depth analysis, we discovered that the width and height components of the distance term could hinder BBR.

The urgent need for new medications that regulate CYP2E1, CASP3, Nrf2, HO-1, TLR2, TLR4, STAT3, and NF-κB activities is paramount for the treatment of drug-induced liver injury (DILI), particularly from acetaminophen (APAP). Previous studies have suggested that platycosides of Platycodonis Radix exhibits hepatoprotective properties against APAP-induced liver injury (AILI), and their serum metabolites may be the effective agents. As the identify the serum metabolites of platycosides is a huge challenge, the mechanism whether platycosides exert effects through the serum metabolites regulating those targets still remain unclear.

Abnormal activation or dysfunction of memory helper T (mTh) cells is closely associated with the development of ulcerative colitis (UC). Curcumin (Cur), the main component of turmeric, plays a critical role in the treatment of UC due to its favorable anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory bioactivities. However, whether Cur modulates mTh7 cells to alleviate UC is unknown.
