A novel arylation of sulfonamides with boronic acids to afford numerous diaryl sulfones a visible light-mediated N-S bond cleavage other than the typical transition-metal-catalyzed C(O)-N bond activation is described. This methodology, which represents the first catalyst-free protocol for the sulfonylation of boronic acids, is characterized by its simple reaction conditions, good functional group tolerance and high efficiency. Several successful examples for the late-stage functionalization of diverse sulfonamides indicate the high potential utility of this method in pharmaceutical science and organic synthesis.

Carboxylic acid compounds are important chemicals and are widely present in various natural products. They are not only nucleophiles, but also radical precursors. Classic transition-metal-catalyzed and photochemical decarboxylation have shown their excellent site selectivity in radical chemistry.

Phytochemical investigation on the methanolic extract of Mastic by using various chromatographic techniques led to the isolation of 9 compounds. Based on the analysis of spectroscopic data(NMR and MS) and/or comparisons with the data reported in the literature, their structures were elucidated as 3β,8α,13-trihydroxypolypoda-14-methoxy-14-methyl-17,21-diene(1), 4-hydroxymyrtenal(2),3-methyl-6-(prop-1-en-2-yl)cyclohex-3-ene-1, 2-diol(3), 2-oxo-Δ~3-4,5,5-trimethylcyclopentynyl acidic acid(4),(1S,2R,3R,5R)-6,6-dimethyl-4-methylidenebicyclo[3.1.

Conspicuously, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) serve as homogenously and periodically atom-dispersed self-sacrificial template for in situ engineering of hierarchical porous carbon-encapsulated micro/nanoheterostructure materials, integrating the merits of micro/nanostructure to high-volumetric energy storage. Copper phosphide represents a promising candidate due to its compact material density compared to commercial graphite. Herein, micro/nanostructured CuP/Cu encapsulated by carbon-nanotube-assembled hierarchical octahedral carbonaceous matrix (CuP/Cu@CNHO) is constructed by an in situ MOF-derived engineering for novel anode material in LIBs, which achieves an extraordinary cycling stability (a well-maintained gravimetric/volumetric capacity of 463.

A general solution to solve this problem is to place an expensive indium (In) foil between the SSE and Li, while it decreases the output voltage and thus the energy density of the battery. In this work, an alternative strategy is demonstrated to boost the cycling performances of SSB by wrapping a graphene oxide (GO) layer on the anode.

Compared with the reported intramolecular electro-oxidative cyclization of alkenyl amines or vinyl anilines for the preparation of pyrrolidines or indolines, the intermolecular version is less studied. Herein, this electrochemical intermolecular oxidative annulation of anilines and alkenes for the preparation of indolines proceeded under external oxidant-free conditions. The most noteworthy achievement of our work is the facile generation of indolines with quaternary centers at the 2-position.

Searching for electrode materials for non-lithium metal ion batteries (NLMIBs) is key to the success of NLMIBs. In this work, we investigated the scientific feasibility of using g-MgN, which is a novel 2D graphene-like material, as an anode for non-lithium metal-ions (Na, K, Mg, Ca and Al) batteries based on density functional theory calculations. The sequential adsorption energy, Bader charge, intercalation voltage, energy-storage capacity, electronic conductivity and metal-ion diffusion energy barrier are calculated.

A novel glucose biosensor was developed by immobilizing glucose oxidase (GOD) on a three-dimensional (3D) porous cane vine (wisteria) stem-derived carbon (3D-CVS), which was firstly proposed as novel support material for electrochemical biosensors using loaded biomolecules. Here, an integrated 3D-CVS electrode was fabricated by loading GOD molecule onto a whole piece of 3D-CVS electrode for a glucose biosensor. The morphologies of integrated 3D-CVS and 3D-CVS/GOD electrode were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

A divergent total synthesis of natural diacetylenic tetraols, petrosiol B and petrosiol D, was accomplished by taking advantage of a carbohydrate chiral template. In particular, petrosiol B, which is the first total synthesis so far, was achieved in 13 linear steps with a 10% overall yield applying Ohira-Bestmann homologation, NaH-mediated dehydrobromination, and Cu(i)-catalyzed Cadiot-Chodkiewicz coupling as the key reaction steps. The synthetic petrosiols B and D were subjected to the study on differentiation activities toward neuronal progenitor PC12 cells.

A Brønsted acid ionic liquid, 3-methyl-1-(4-sulfonylbutyl) imidazolium hydrogensulfate ([HOS(CH)mim]HSO), was used for the first time for the preparation of a sulfonated carbon catalyst. The catalyst was prepared from the residue obtained after recovery of the essential oil from the leaves of . The sulfonated carbon catalyst with an amorphous structure attained high acidic efficiency at a sulfonation temperature of 200 °C for 2 h of sulfonation time, and was characterised.

Sub-nanometer materials have received wide attention due to their unique properties in recent years. Most studies focus on the preparation and properties investigation of the inorganic sub-nanometer materials, while there are few reports on organic especially polymeric sub-nanometer materials such as sub-nanometer fiber due to the obstacles with respect to fabricating such small nanofibers. In this work we prepare PAA nanofibers with diameters ranging from hundreds of nanometers down to sub-nanometer electrospinning from a polyamic acid (PAA) with ultrahigh molecular weight.

Activated carbon (AC) is an environmentally sustainable oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalyst and widely used in MFCs due to its intrinsic high specific surface area and mesoporous characteristics, but it shows relatively high ORR over-potential thus low electrocatalytic activity. In this study, a method of doped carbon modification was employed to decrease the over-potential and improve the ORR electrocatalytic activity of the AC catalyst. Nitrogen and phosphorus co-doped carbon modified AC (NPC@AC) was prepared by coating phytic acid doped polyaniline onto AC through oxidative polymerization and subsequent high-temperature pyrolysis.
