Objective: We investigated the relationship between thyroid hormones and the risk of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) progression.
Methods: A total of 452 patients with type 2 diabetes were included, and a cross-sectional analysis was performed. Urine albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) were used to diagnose persistent albuminuria and stage chronic kidney disease, respectively.

Purpose: Stem cells are characterized by the capability of self-renewal and multi-differentiation. Normal stem cells, which are important for tissue repair and tissue regeneration, can be divided into embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and somatic stem cells (SSCs) depending on their origin. As a subpopulation of cells within cancer, cancer stem cells (CSCs) are at the root of therapeutic resistance.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been characterized by playing a crucial role in tumorigenesis. However, the detail biological function and clinical importance of lncRNAs in colorectal cancer (CRC) are unclear and have attracted different levels of in-depth research. In this context, we explored the differentially expressed profiles of lncRNAs in six CRC tissues and three adjacent non-tumor tissues from RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) study and noted a lncRNA, RP11-51O6.

Periodontal disease (PD) is one of the main causes of periodontal bone resorption and tooth loss in adults. How to repair the alveolar bone effectively has always been a challenge. This study was designed to clarify the effects and the underlying molecular mechanisms of chlorogenic acid (CGA) on osteogenic differentiation of human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs).

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most lethal malignancies and the incidence of CRC has been on the rise. Herein, we aimed to identify effective biomarkers for early diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer via bioinformatic tools.
Methods: To identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in CRC, we downloaded CRC gene expression data from GSE24514 and GSE110223 datasets in Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and employed R to analyze the data.

Obesity is a metabolic disease and its relation with male subfertility has aroused a growing concern. However, it is unclear whether gene expression and post-translational modifications (PTMs), two vital molecular mechanisms regulating cellular functions, are associated with obesity-induced male reproductive dysfunction. In this study, male obesity with compromised sperm motility was induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) using a mouse model.

Tumor invasion, metastasis, and recrudescence remain a considerable challenge in the treatment of gastric cancer (GC). Herein we first identified that RNA binding protein fox-1 homolog 3 (RBFOX3) was markedly overexpressed in GC tissues and negatively linked to the survival rate of GC patients. RBFOX3 promoted cell division and cell cycle progression and .

Cervical cancer is a malignant disease and a threat to women's health worldwide. Surgical resection followed by radiotherapy or chemotherapy is the main treatment strategy for cervical cancer; however, patients with cervical cancer, especially those with late-stage disease, may not benefit from these traditional therapies, which results in poor clinical outcome. ALOX12B is a gene encoding lipoxygenase, and a mutation in ALOX12B was detected in lung and breast cancer.

Hippocampal neural stem cells (H-NSCs) self-renewal and neurogenesis decrease with aging, but the intrinsic mechanism is unclear. In the current study, we detected the expression level of 8 conserved long intergenic noncoding RNAs (lincRNAs) in H-NSCs during aging, and investigated the function and mechanism of lincRNAs in regulating of H-NSCs. We found the proliferation and neuronal-differentiation capacities of H-NSCs reduced with aging and that this effect was accompanied by an increase in linc-FOXD3.

Lung cancer is one of the most common and malignant cancers with extremely high morbidity and mortality in both males and females. Although traditional lung cancer treatments are fast progressing, there are still limitations. Caveolin-1 (Cav-1), a main component of caveolae, participates in multiple cellular events such as immune responses, endocytosis, membrane trafficking, cellular signaling and cancer progression.

The present study aimed to investigate the mechanism underlying sulforaphane-mediated epigenetic regulation of nuclear factor-erythroid derived 2-like 2 (Nrf2) expression in human colon cancer. Proteins were extracted from normal Caco-2 cells using sulforaphane and 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-Aza) combined with trichostatin A (TSA). The mRNA and protein expression levels and activity of DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) were determined.
