This study aimed to translate the Perspectives on Caring for Older Patients scale into Chinese, both the full and the shortened versions, and test its psychometric properties among Chinese nursing students. In this methodological research, the scale were translated and administered to 307 nursing students recruited from two universities in mainland China. The psychometric testing mainly included internal consistency reliability using Cronbach's alphas, 2-week test-retest reliability using the intraclass correlation coefficient, convergent validity with Kogan's Attitude toward Older People scale, and factorial validity using exploratory factor analysis.

Oxidative stress (OS) has been proposed to play a role in the development of EMs. Peroxiredoxins are a family of antioxidant proteins that exhibit peroxidase activity in a thioredoxin-dependent manner, protecting cells against OS. The Western blotting results showed that the relative expression of PRDX4 was significantly increased in ectopic endometria compared with the normal endometria of EMs-free ( < .

This study was designed to investigate the antitumor activity of triptolide in ovarian cancer inoculated with SKOV3 and SKOV3/cisplatin (DDP) cells, and to assess the mechanisms. In-vivo and in-vitro experiments were designed to evaluate the effects of triptolide on the tumor growth of SKOV3 and SKOV3/DDP cells. The experiments were divided into four groups: a SKOV3 group, a SKOV3 + TP treatment group, a SKOV3/DDP group and a SKOV3/DDP + TP treatment group.

Background: Increasing evidence has suggested that multiple long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) act key regulatory functions in the pathogenesis of bladder cancer. This study aimed to determine the expression and clinical significance of lncRNA ROR1 antisense RNA 1 (ROR1-AS1) from patients with bladder cancer, and to explore the potential role and mechanism underlying ROR1-AS1-related cancer progression.

Methods: Real time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) was conducted to detected the expression levels of ROR1-AS1 and miR-504 in bladder cancer samples and cell lines.

DDR1 promotes breast tumor growth by suppressing antitumor immunity.

Oncol Rep

December 2019

Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, SAR, P.R. China.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer‑associated mortality among women worldwide. Triple‑negative breast cancer (TNBC) accounts for 15‑20% of all breast cancers and is defined by its aggressive nature and limited treatment options. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop effective therapies for TNBC in order to improve breast cancer outcomes, as targeted therapies have done in other subtypes of breast cancer.

Lung cancer is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, and the main effective treatment is surgical operation to cure this disease. This study assessed the feasibility of surgical aerosol for identification of lung cancer and adjacent normal tissue in surgery. In vitro experiments, the surgical aerosol was released when the tissue sample was being cut using a standard electrosurgery handpiece.

Ultrasound elastography has become a promising noninvasive approach for assessing liver fibrosis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnosis ability of liver stiffness detected by shear wave elastography (SWE) for predicting the presence of esophageal varices (EVs) in cirrhotic patients. Four hundred sixty-eight cirrhotic patients were enrolled consecutively.

As an intractable health threat, neuropathic pain is now a key problem in clinical therapy, which can be caused by lesions affecting the peripheral nervous systems. 1,8-cineole is a natural monoterpene cyclic ether present in eucalyptus and has been reported to exhibit anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Research has shown that 1,8-cineole inhibits P2X3 receptor-mediated neuropathic pains in dorsal root ganglion.

Recurrent liver cancer after surgery is often treated with radiotherapy, which induces liver damage. It has been documented that activation of the TGF-β and NF-κB signaling pathways plays important roles in irradiation-induced liver pathologies. However, the significance of mTOR signaling remains undefined after irradiation exposure.

Effects of long non-coding RNA uc.48+ on pain transmission in trigeminal neuralgia.

Brain Res Bull

Department of Physiology, Basic Medical College, Nanchang University, Nanchang, Jiangxi, 330006, PR China; Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Autonomic Nervous Function and Disease, Nanchang, Jiangxi, 330006, PR China. Electronic address:

Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is the most common neuropathic pain in the facial area, for which the effective therapy is unavailable. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) such as lncRNA uc.48+ is involved in diabetic neuropathic pain and may affect purinergic signaling in ganglia of diabetic rats.

Increasing evidence suggests that lncRNA is important in innate immune responses. Recent study has demonstrated that lncRNA NEAT1 (which has two subtypes: NEAT1_1 and NEAT1_2) nuclear-enriched abundant transcript 1 (NEAT1) is essential in immune regulation, but the expression and clinical significance in tuberculosis are still unclear. In this work, we aimed to discuss the expression and clinical significance of NEAT1 in tuberculosis patients.

Poor blood circulation makes it difficult for antitubercular drugs to achieve effective bactericidal concentration at tuberculose focus. The residual Mycobacterium tuberculosis around surgical wound would multiply, resulting in nonunion or sinus formation. Carbon nanotubes have strong tissue penetration and can cross many kinds of physiological barriers.

Objective To investigate the relationship between inflammatory factors, oxidative stress and type 1 deiodinase (DIO-1) concentration in patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) with or without euthyroid sick syndrome (ESS). Methods This study recruited patients with CRF and divided them into two groups: group 1 had low free triiodothyronine (FT3) levels; and group 2 had normal FT3 levels. Group 3 consisted of healthy volunteers.

The therapeutic use of glimepiride and gliclazide shows substantial inter-individual variation in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in human populations, which might be caused by genetic differences among individuals. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of CYP2C9 and OATP1B1 genetic polymorphisms on the metabolism and transport of glimepiride and gliclazide. The uptake of glimepiride and gliclazide was measured in OATP1B1*1a, *5 and *15-HEK293T cells, and their metabolism was measured using CYP2C9*1, *2 and *3 recombinase by LC-MS.

Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is one of the most intense forms of facial pain. It has been reported that the P2X receptor plays a crucial role in facilitating pain transmission, and the calcitonin-gene-related peptide (CGRP) from trigeminal ganglia (TGs) might perform differing function in nociceptive afferent input transmission. The present study investigated whether emodin can affect TN pain transmission by suppressing the expression of P2X receptors and CGRP in TGs.
