Objective: To evaluate the immunogenicity, safety and lot-to-lot consistency of an inactivated enterovirus 71 (EV71) vaccine cultured in bioreactors with different specifications after full immunization.

Methods: A randomized, double-blind trial was performed in 3,000 children aged 6 ~ 35 months with six vaccine batches, which were prepared in 40 L and 150 L bioreactors for three consecutive batches respectively. Children were immunized on day 0 and 28, serum samples were collected on day 0 and 56, and neutralizing antibody titers were determined by the microcytopathic method.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the safety and immune response of hepatitis A vaccines in participants who were either positive or negative for Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBs-Ag).
  • A total of 9,000 participants received either live attenuated (HA-L) or inactivated (HA-I) hepatitis A vaccines, with 120 being HBs-Ag-positive, and results were analyzed over three years.
  • The findings suggested that both vaccines were safe for HBs-Ag-positive individuals, showing high seroconversion rates and similar immune responses between both groups, indicating they can receive either vaccine type effectively.

Objectives: To gain insight into the current practice of hearing protection of Chinese workers and the value of hearing protection device (HPD) fit testing.

Design: HPD fit testing was conducted on workers (N = 774) in a petrochemical plant in Eastern China who were on duty during the period of this study. The 3M E-A-Rfit Dual-Ear Validation System was used to measure the personal attenuation ratings (PARs) of a premolded earplug used at the work site.

Key Laboratory of Enteric Pathogenic Microbiology, Ministry of Health, Jiangsu Provincial Center of Disease Control and Prevention, Nanjing 210009, China.

To analyze the genetic characterization of norovirus isolated in an outbreak of gastroenteritis in Jiangsu province. Extracted viral RNA from the swab samples of cases of acute gastroenteritis outbreak in Jiangsu province on December 16-27, 2016 was reversely transcribed to cDNA, and partial RNA-dependent RNA polymerase sequence and complete capsid sequence (VP1) were amplified by RT-PCR. Amplification products were sequenced for the analysis of genetic characteristics.

August 2013

Key Lab of Enteric Pathogenic Microbiology, Ministry of Health, Jiangsu Provincial Center of Disease Control and Prevention, Nanjing 210009, China.

Objective: To study both the epidemiologic and molecular characteristics of outbreaks caused by norovirus (NoV) with its variants, in Jiangsu.

Methods: 67 specimens from seven gastroenteritis outbreaks were collected from October 2012 to March 2013 in Jiangsu. NoV gene group was detected by Real-Time RT-PCR.
