Background & Aims: Current prognostic models for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) undergoing transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) are not extensively validated and widely accepted. We aimed to develop and validate a continuous model incorporating tumor burden and biology for individual survival prediction and risk stratification.
Methods: Overall, 4,377 treatment-naive candidates for whom TACE was recommended, from 39 centers in five countries, were enrolled and divided into training, internal validation, and two external validation datasets.

Introduction: The present study aims to explore the expression level of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit β (EIF2S2) in breast cancer tissue, and its role both in breast cancer prognosis and in the immune microenvironment.
Methods: To assess the association between the expression levels of EIF2S2 and prognosis, the Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis database was initially applied to determine differences in the gene expression of EIF2S2 in various malignant and normal tissues. Furthermore, the expression levels of EIF2S2 were determined in the clinical breast cancer tissues and corresponding para-neoplastic tissues using immunohistochemical analysis.

Objectives: Objective response rate (ORR) under mRECIST criteria after transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is a well-perceived surrogate endpoint of overall survival (OS). However, its optimal time point remains controversial and may be influenced by tumor burden. We aim to investigate the surrogacy of initial/best ORR in relation to tumor burden.

We sequenced 432 tumor samples from the colorectum, stomach, pancreas, gallbladder, and biliary tract to investigate cancer-related mutations and detail the landscape of microsatellite instability (MSI), tumor mutation burden (TMB), and chromosomal instability (CIN). We observed the highest TMB in colorectal and gastric cancers and the lowest TMB in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs).

Hepatic cancer is often amenable to surgery, including percutaneous ablation, trans-arterial chemoembolization. However, in metastatic cases, surgery is often not an effective option. Chemotherapy as a conventional clinical method for treatment of malignant diseases may be useful in such cases, but it is likewise not always able to slow or halt progression, therefore novel approaches for treatment of hepatic cancer are needed.

Introduction: The benefits of combining transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and sorafenib (TACE-S) over TACE alone for treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remain controversial. Yet, such populations are heterogeneous in terms of baseline characteristics.
Objective: To investigate the predictors of survival benefits from added sorafenib and identify the potential candidates for TACE-S.

Background & Aims: Previous prognostic scores for transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) were mainly derived from real-world settings, which are beyond guideline recommendations. A robust model for outcome prediction and risk stratification of recommended TACE candidates is lacking. We aimed to develop an easy-to-use tool specifically for these patients.

Breast cancer is the most frequent malignant disease in women worldwide. It is a heterogeneous and complex genetic disease with different molecular characteristics. MAPT-AS1, a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) existing at the anti-sense strand of the MAPT (microtubule associated protein tau) promoter region, was believed to regulate MAPT, which was associated with disease state in Parkinson's disease.

Background: For patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and multiple brain metastases, whole-brain irradiation (WBI) is a standard-of-care treatment, but its effects on neurocognition are complex and concerning. We compared the efficacy of an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), icotinib, versus WBI with or without chemotherapy in a phase 3 trial of patients with EGFR-mutant NSCLC and multiple brain metastases.
Methods: We did a multicentre, open-label, parallel randomised controlled trial (BRAIN) at 17 hospitals in China.

Objective To investigate the effect of dexmedetomidine on lung injury and the expressions of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), nuclear factor κB p65 (NF-κB p65) and intercellular adhesion molecular 1 (ICAM-1) mRNA during one-lung ventilation (OLV) in rabbits. Methods Thirty healthy New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups ( n=10 in each group): two-lung ventilation (TLV) group (group T), OLV group (group O), dexmedetomidine used during OLV group (group D-O). The rabbits in group T were treated with TLV for 3.

Background & Objective: Waldeyer's ring is the most vulnerable site outside lymph nodes in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Its imaging features in NHL of early stage were similar with those of squamous epithelial cancer, which often leads to misdiagnosis. This study was to discuss imaging features of Waldeyer's ring in NHL, and its clinical significance.
