Purpose: This preliminary study evaluated the safety and effectiveness for off-label use of Neuroform EZ (NEZ) stents in the revascularization of hepatic artery stenosis (HAS) after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT).

Materials And Methods: Nine of 489 (5%) OLTs with HAS were managed with NEZ stents between September 2016 and July 2021. Stenting outcomes were evaluated based on the technical success rate, procedure-related complications, and primary patency.

An early net ultrafiltration (NUF) rate may be associated with prognosis in patients receiving continuous kidney replacement therapy (CKRT). In this study, we tested whether high or low early NUF rates in patients treated with CKRT were associated with increased mortality. We conducted a retrospective, observational study among all patients in the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV database who received CKRT for more than 24 h within 14 days after intensive care unit admission.

Purpose: The combination of vancomycin and piperacillin/tazobactam (VAN + PTZ) provides a broad spectrum of activity against multiple pathogens. However, a major issue in previous research concerned significant nephrotoxicity associated with this drug combination, and most studies have been conducted in American and European countries, with no similar data available from China. Therefore, this study evaluated the nephrotoxic effects of VAN + PTZ in a large-scale Chinese cohort to determine the prevalence of acute kidney injury (AKI) in this population by comparing PTZ and vancomycin monotherapies and the combined use of vancomycin and β-lactam antibiotics.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have brought a paradigm shift to cancer treatment. However, little is known about the risk of renal adverse events (RAEs) of ICI-based regimens, especially ICI combination therapy.

Methods: We carried out a network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to compare the risk of RAEs between ICI-based regimens and traditional cancer therapy, including chemotherapy and targeted therapy.

Background: Although endocrine therapy (ET) is the preferred option for hormone receptor-positive HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer (HR+/HER2- MBC), chemotherapy (CT) is still commonly used. The objective of this real-world study was to present the actual choice of first-line treatment for patients with HR+/HER2- MBC and evaluate the consistency with guidelines in China.

Methods: Patients with HR+/HER2- MBC between 1996 and September 2018 were identified from of the database of Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology Breast Cancer (CSCO BC).

Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is, in general, accompanied by a reduction of the nephron number, which increases the risk of hypertension and renal dysfunction. Studies have revealed that ouabain can partially restore the number of nephrons during IUGR. However, there is limited information regarding the melioration of nephric structure and function.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) can cause great damage to the elderly patients and lead to high mortality. The clinical presentations and auxiliary examinations of the elderly patients with COVID-19 are atypical, due to the physiological ageing deterioration and basal pathological state. The treatment strategy for the elderly patients has its own characteristics and treatment protocol should be considered accordingly.

To investigate the histopathologic, immunohistochemical, molecular genetic characteristics of dedifferentiated liposarcomas with meningothelial-like whorls(DDLMW). Six cases of DDLMW diagnosed at Jiangsu Province Hospital(the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University) from March 2012 to August 2018 were enrolled. The cases were analyzed by routine HE staining, immunohistochemistry(MDM2, CDK4 and p16) and fluorescent in-situ hybridization(FISH) on MDM2 gene.

Ventricular arrhythmias are an important cause of morbidity and mortality and come in a variety of forms, from single premature ventricular complexes to sustained ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation. Rapid developments have taken place over the past decade in our understanding of these arrhythmias and in our ability to diagnose and treat them. The field of catheter ablation has progressed with the development of new methods and tools, and with the publication of large clinical trials.

To study the clinicopathological features, diagnosis, and differential diagnosis of atypical epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE). Eight cases of atypical EHEs were collected from Jiangsu Province Hospital (the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University) between 2010 and 2018. EnVision method and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) were used to detect immunophenotype, WWTR1-CAMTA1 and TFE3 gene rearrangement, respectively.

Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) remains a challenge of global TB control, with difficulty in early detection of drug-sensitive tuberculosis (DS-TB). We investigate the diagnostic significance of IDO as a potential biomarker to discriminate MDR patients among the TB patients. Plasma indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) was measured by the ratio of kynurenine (Kyn) to tryptophan (Trp) concentrations, using high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).

Acquired aplastic anemia (AA) is a hematological disease characterized by failure of bone marrow hematopoiesis resulting in pancytopenia. While immune-mediated destruction of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) plays a central role in the pathophysiology of acquired AA, the transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) is crucial in adjusting the immune system. The aim of our study was to investigate the role of TGF-β1 gene polymorphisms rs1800469 and rs2317130 in susceptibility to acquired AA.
