Department of Pathology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Wannan Medical College, Wuhu, China; Postdoctoral Research Station of Clinical Medicine, Jinan University, Guangzhou, China. Electronic address:

Background & Aims: Abnormal expression of long noncoding RNAs is strongly linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). However, the precise molecular mechanisms remain unclear. This study explores the roles of noncoding RNA activated by DNA damage (NORAD)/miR-511-3p/Rho-associated protein kinase 2 (Rock2) axis and the NORAD/ROCK2 interaction in the development of MASLD.

Article Synopsis
  • The study simulated human breathing to analyze how well different methods (qPCR, ddPCR, and LAMP) detect SARS-CoV-2 bioaerosols and evaluated their efficacy.
  • Each method was tested for sensitivity and specificity using aerosol samples and stock solutions, with qPCR showing slightly higher detection limits than the others.
  • The findings suggest that these detection methods can be utilized in public areas or hospitals to identify aerosol-borne viruses in low concentrations, providing an early warning system for potential outbreaks.

LncRNA BCCE4 Genetically Enhances the PD-L1/PD-1 Interaction in Smoking-Related Bladder Cancer by Modulating miR-328-3p-USP18 Signaling.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

October 2023

Department of Environmental Genomics, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Cancer Biomarkers, Prevention and Treatment, Collaborative Innovation Center for Cancer Personalized Medicine, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, 211166, China.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study identifies a specific genetic variant, rs62483508 G > A in lncRNA BCCE4, which is linked to a lower risk of bladder cancer in a Chinese population, but not in Europeans.
  • - The A allele of this variant helps maintain the stability of USP18 by disrupting the interaction with miR-328-3p, leading to reduced PD-L1/PD-1 interactions, which may influence immune response in tumors.
  • - The research highlights the importance of lncRNA BCCE4 in bladder cancer susceptibility and suggests it could serve as a predictor for diagnosis and prevention strategies.

We here showed that ADCK1 (AarF domain-containing kinase 1), a mitochondrial protein, is upregulated in human osteosarcoma (OS) tissues and OS cells. In primary and established OS cells, ADCK1 shRNA or CRISPR/Cas9-induced ADCK1 knockout (KO) remarkably inhibited cell viability, proliferation and migration, and provoked apoptosis activation. Conversely, ectopic ADCK1 overexpression exerted pro-cancerous activity by promoting OS cell proliferation and migration.

MAFG-driven osteosarcoma cell progression is inhibited by a novel miRNA miR-4660.

Mol Ther Nucleic Acids

June 2021

Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Neuropsychiatric Diseases and Institute of Neuroscience, Soochow University, Suzhou 215123, China.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common primary bone malignancy in the adolescent population. MAFG (v-maf avian musculoaponeurotic fibrosarcoma oncogene homolog G) forms a heterodimer with Nrf2 (NF-E2-related factor 2), binding to antioxidant response element (ARE), which is required for Nrf2 signaling activation. We found that mRNA and protein expression is significantly elevated in human OS tissues as well as in established and primary human OS cells.
