Chemical burns of the rectum are so rare that there are few cases reported about this situation. In fact, chemical burns of the rectum can cause severe serious consequence, such as bleeding, perforation and necrosis, even developing to persistent rectal stricture. Here we present a case report of a 12-year-old child with rectal stenosis who imitates the use of corkage and inserts rust remover into the rectum unsupervised by family members.

Background: To enhance the self-management ability of elderly diabetes mellitus (DM) patients, priority should be given to the accurate evaluation of their current self-management ability, and then provide corresponding guidance.

Objective: To explore the application value of Diabetes Self-Management Behaviors among Older Koreans (DSMB-O) in self-management of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Methods: Using convenient sampling, this study retrospectively collected the clinical data of 215 elderly patients with T2DM who were admitted to our hospital from June 2020 to June 2022.

Department of Digestive Endoscopy, Jiangsu Province Hospital and The First Affiliated Hospital with Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing 210029, China; Changzhou Medical Center of Nanjing Medical University, Changzhou 213000, China. Electronic address:

Background: Accurate diagnosis of patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) can reduce their risk of developing colorectal cancer. This study intended to explore whether moxifloxacin, an agent with fluorescence potential, could promote two-photon microscopy (TPM) diagnosis for mice with dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis, which could imitate human UC.

Methods: 32 Balb/c mice were randomly divided into 4 groups: control, acute colitis, remission colitis and chronic colitis.

Objective: To investigate the impact of preoperative hysteroscopy on progression-free survival (PFS) and disease-specific survival (DFS), and to explore the factors which contribute to poor clinical outcomes between hysteroscopy and dilation and curettage (D&C) in endometrial cancer (EC).

Methods: A retrospective study was designed by collecting data from women diagnosed with EC through hysteroscopy or D&C from January 2010 to December 2019 in a tertiary hospital in China. A propensity score was used for 1:1 matching of advanced stage patients.

Background: We aimed to explore the relationship between the sleep and gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) from the perspective of personality factors.

Methods: Overall, 167 patients with IBS- from First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University in Jiangsu Province of China in 2019 were included. Gastrointestinal Symptom Score (GIS), Chinese version of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) were used to assess gastrointestinal symptoms, sleep and personality.

Since two-photon microscopy (TPM) can obtain high-resolution images at cellular and subcellular level and moxifloxacin has multiphoton fluorescence characteristic, our study aimed to explore the feasibility and diagnostic value of moxifloxacin-assisted TPM in different human colorectal diseases, including low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (LGIN), high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (HGIN) and cancer tissues. Excitation power for TPM imaging with and without moxifloxacin was (2.74 ± 0.

To explore the correlation between Fried Frailty Phenotype (FFP) and the muscle thickness and quality of local muscle, and to provide a reasonable basis for the application of ultrasound measurement in the frailty assessment. A total of 150 people (age ≥ 65 years, 58 women, 92 men) were included from the First Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University. They were divided into Normal group (40 cases), Prefrailty group (69 cases) and Frailty group (41 cases).

Background: Primary cutaneous CD30+ lymphoproliferative diseases are the second most common group of cutaneous T-cell lymphomas, including lymphomatoid papulosis (LyP), primary cutaneous anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (pcALCL), and borderline cases. These diseases form a spectrum and may show overlapping histopathological, phenotypic, and genetic features. In the 2016 WHO classification, LyP with 6p25.

Article Synopsis
  • Compound mutations in the EGFR gene, particularly in lung adenocarcinoma, lead to poor responses to standard EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).
  • A patient with a compound EGFR mutation (L858R/A871G) experienced rapid progression on erlotinib but responded well to icotinib, suggesting that different EGFR-TKIs may be effective depending on the specific mutation.
  • This case highlights the importance of recognizing diverse responses to various EGFR-TKIs and underscores the need for further research into how these mutations affect treatment outcomes.

SHR0534 is being developed for type-2 diabetes mellitus. Herein the tolerability, safety, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of SHR0534 in healthy Chinese subjects were assessed in a phase-I, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, single- and multiple-ascending dose study. Forty subjects were randomized 4:1 to receive SHR0534 at the dose of 10, 25, 50 or 100 mg, or placebo, and another eleven subjects were allocated to either the 5 mg group or the placebo group at an 8:3 ratio.

Background: There are unique advantages and disadvantages in the choice of contact mapping (CM) versus noncontact mapping (NCM) systems during ablation of right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) arrhythmias. This study compared acute procedural success and clinical outcomes in matched patients undergoing CM- versus NCM-guided RVOT ablation.

Methods: A total of 167 consecutive patients with idiopathic RVOT ventricular arrhythmias underwent NCM- or CM-guided ablation.
