The fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) is a major global pest causing severe damage to various crops, especially corn. Transgenic corn producing the Cry1F pesticidal protein from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Cry1F corn) showed effectiveness in controlling this pest until S. frugiperda populations at locations in North and South America evolved practical resistance.

Based on the concept of quality by design(QbD), this study optimized the processing technology of Ilicis Rotundae Cortex. According to the processing method and ingredient requirements of Ilicis Rotundae Cortex in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, the content of syringin and pedunculoside, alcohol extract, fragmentation rate, and moisture content were taken as the critical quality attributes(CQAs). The soaking time, moistening time, and drying time were taken as critical process parameters(CPPs) by single factor tests.

The sustainable extraction of natural compounds has recently attracted significant attention. The extraction of high-quality natural vanillin in active form is crucial for its efficient use in various industries, but conventional solvents are not suitable for this purpose. The flammability, volatility, and toxicity of organic solvents can harm extraction personnel, and their waste liquid can cause environmental pollution.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) comprise an antibody, linker, and drug, which direct their highly potent small molecule drugs to target tumor cells via specific binding between the antibody and surface antigens. The antibody, linker, and drug should be properly designed or selected to achieve the desired efficacy while minimizing off-target toxicity. With a unique and complex structure, there is inherent heterogeneity introduced by product-related variations and the manufacturing process.

Selenium (Se) and cadmium (Cd) usually co-existed in soils, especially in areas with Se-rich soils in China. The potential health consequences for the local populations consuming foods rich in Se and Cd are unknown. Cardamine hupingshanensis (HUP) is Se and Cd hyperaccumulator plant that could be an ideal natural product to assess the protective effects of endogenous Se against endogenous Cd-caused bone damage.

The ability of fluorescence hyperspectral imaging to predict heavy metal lead (Pb) concentration in oilseed rape leaves was studied in silicon-free and silicon environments. Further, the transfer stacked convolution auto-encoder (T-SCAE) algorithm was proposed based on the stacked convolution auto-encoder (SCAE) algorithm. Fluorescence hyperspectral images of oilseed rape leaves under different Pb stress contents were obtained in the silicon-free and silicon environments.

Using gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and electrospun nanofibrous membrane, we developed and validated a simple, rapid, and sensitive methodology for quantifying eugenol residues in fish tissue and water samples. Fish tissue extract and water samples (315 samples) collected from three southeastern China provinces (Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Fujian), originating from eight provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Guangdong, Fujian, Anhui, Shanghai, and Jiangxi, from April 2021 to April 2023 were filtered with an electrospun nanofiber membrane, extracted with trichloromethane/-hexane, and directly concentrated to dry after simple purification. An internal standard of -terphenyl in -hexane and 5-µL injection volumes of the solutions was used to analyze eugenol via internal calibration with a minimum concentration of 0.
