There are multiple bioactive substances in the mosquito saliva, most of which are allergic to humans. Previous studies have demonstrated that mosquito bites may induce allergic reactions mediated by B and T lymphocytes, resulting in a reduction in the quality of life and even death among patients. To date, 11 salivary allergens and 8 non-salivary allergens have been characterized in mosquitoes.

Methods: A total of 400 and 400 snails were collected from Yongsheng County, Yunnan Province in June 2024, and snail images were captured following identification and classification of 300 and 300 snails. A total of 925 images and 1 062 snail images were collected as a dataset and divided into a training set and a validation set at a ratio of 8:2, while 352 images captured from the remaining 100 and 354 images from the remaining 100 snails served as an external test set.

Introduction: A continuing challenge for malaria control is the ability of to develop resistance to antimalarial drugs. Members within the transcription factor family AP2 regulate the growth and development of the parasite, and are also thought to be involved in unclear aspects of drug resistance. Here we screened for single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the AP2 family and identified 6 non-synonymous mutations within AP2-06B (PF3D7_0613800), with allele frequencies greater than 0.

Aedes albopictus (Ae. albopictus) is widely distributed and can transmit many infectious diseases, and insecticide-based interventions play an important role in vector control. However, increased insecticide resistance has become a severe public health problem, and the clarification of its detailed mechanism is a matter of urgence.

In holometabolous insects, critical weight (CW) attainment triggers pupation and metamorphosis, but its mechanism remains unclear in non-model organisms like mosquitoes. Here, we investigate the role of 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) in CW assessment and pupation timing in Aedes albopictus and Ae. aegypti, vectors of arboviruses including dengue and Zika.

Schistosomiasis is commonly managed using the praziquantel, but it is only effective against adult worms and duration of action is short. Liver fibrosis will worsen if eggs are still present after stopping treatment. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a sustained drug release system for effectively preventing and treating schistosomiasis.

Background: The 1-3-7 approach to eliminate malaria was first implemented in China in 2012. It has since been expanded to multiple countries, but no systematic review has examined the evidence for its use. A systematic review was conducted aiming to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the strategy and identify key challenges and variations in its implementation across different countries.

Background: Food-borne trematodiases (FBTs), mainly encompassing clonorchiasis, fascioliasis, fasciolopsiasis, opisthorchiasis, and paragonimiasis, is a neglected public health problem, particularly in the WHO South-East Asia and the Western Pacific regions. This study evaluates the global, regional, and national disease burden of FBTs from 1990 to 2021 and projects trends to 2030, underscore the need for targeted prevention and control.
Methods: Using the Global Burden of Disease 2021 database, the crude and the age-standardized prevalence rate (ASPR) and age-standardized prevalence disability-adjusted life years rate (ASDR) of FBTs at the global, regional and national level from 1990 to 2021 were described.

Objective: To investigate T cell subtypes and their functions in liver immune microenvironments among patients with alveolar echinococcosis (AE) using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq).
Methods: Four AE patients that were admitted to Qinghai Provincial People's Hospital in 2023 for hepatic surgery for the first time were enrolled, and liver specimens were sampled 1 cm (peri-lesion, PL group) and > 5 cm from AE lesions (distal lesion, DL group) among each patient. Finally, a total of eight liver specimens were sampled from four AE patients for scRNA-seq analysis.

Objective: To investigate the alleviation of infection on dextran sulfate sodium salt (DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis in mice, and to explore the underlying mechanism.
Methods: Thirty male C57BL/6J mice of the SPF grade, each weighing approximately 25 g, were randomly divided into three groups, including the blank control group (NC group), DSS modeling group (DSS group), and treatment group (Nb + DSS group), of 10 mice in each group. Mice in the DSS group were orally administered with 3.

Background: The World Health Organization certified China malaria-free in 2021. Consequently, preventing the risk of malaria re-introduction caused by imported malaria has now become a major challenge. This study aims to characterize the dynamics and predict the risk of malaria importation in Jiangsu Province, where the number of imported malaria cases ranks among the highest in China.

Schistosomiasis is a parasitic disease that poses a serious threat to human health. However, the pathogenic mechanism during the progression of infection remains unclear. In order to elucidate this mechanism, we used single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) to investigate the transcriptome characteristics of the cellular (single-cell) landscape in the livers of mice infected with , which were divided into three groups: uninfected mice (0 week (w)), infected mice at 6 w post-infection (the acute phase), and infected mice at 10 w post-infection (the chronic phase).

Vector-borne diseases (VBDs) represent a critical global public health concern, with approximately 80% of the world's population at risk of one or more VBD. Manual disease vector identification is time-consuming and expert-dependent, hindering disease control efforts. Deep learning (DL), widely used in image, text, and audio tasks, offers automation potential for disease vector identification.

Exosomes are membrane-bound structures released by cells into the external environment that carry a significant amount of important cargo, such as proteins, DNA, RNA, and lipids. They play a crucial role in intercellular communication. Parasites have complex life cycles and can release exosomes at different stages.
