Glycyrrhetinic acid is a bioactive compound extracted from licorice that exhibits inhibition effect on various cancers. However, its hydrophobicity results in low bioavailability that limits application. We aim to overcome this barrier, the present research was performed to prepare glycyrrhetinic acid proliposomes mediated mannosylated ligand (mannose-diester lauric diacid-cholesterol, MDC) and to evaluate its physicochemical characterizations, environmental stability and bioactivity.

Objective: Ischemia-reperfusion is an ongoing clinical challenge that can lead to a series of pathological changes including oxidative stress. The inhibition of soluble epoxide hydrolase inhibitor (sEH) by 1-(1-propanoylpiperidin-4-yl)-3-[4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl]urea (TPPU) results in an anti-inflammatory, cardioprotective, and blood vessel growth-promoting effects. Therefore, this study focused on the protective effect of TPPU on a rat pheochromocytoma (PC-12) cell oxidative stress model induced by HO.

Background: Tetramethylpyrazine (TMP), a potent anti-free radical and anti-inflammations substance, has been demonstrated to possess a direct vessel relaxation property. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of TMP treatment in pulmonary hypertension (PH) and test the hypothesis that TMP prevents or reverses the process of PH.

Methods: Rats ( = 36) injected with 50 mg/kg of monocrotaline (MCT) subcutaneously 4 weeks to develop PH were then randomized to TMP (5 mg/kg per day) for another 4 weeks.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a major cause of visual deficits and blindness in the working-age population and inflammatory response is a key event during DR. In this study, we investigated the anti-inflammatory properties of small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) derived from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSCs) in a diabetic rat model and human retinal microvascular endothelial cells. After development of DR in rats subjected to diabetes induction with streptozotocin (STZ), the DR rats were treated with different concentrations of hUCMSC-sEVs.

Psoralen (PSO) exerts anti‑inflammatory pharmacological effects and plays an important role in a variety of inflammatory diseases. However, the effects of PSO with allergic rhinitis (AR) are yet to be reported. In the present study, an AR model was generated by inducing JME/CF15 human nasal epithelial cells with IL‑13, after which MTT was used to assess the cytotoxicity of PSO.

Koumine (KM) is a major alkaloid monomer in the traditional Chinese medicine herb Gelsemium elegans Benth that has exhibited therapeutic potential in clinical applications. However, the pharmacological toxicological mechanism of this drug has not been fully explored. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impacts of KM administration at a therapeutic dose in offspring.
