The present study aims to elucidate the potential therapeutic role of lncRNA XIST in gastric cancer through regulation of microRNA-132 (miR-132) and paxillin (PXN) expression. The study employed 65 gastric cancer tissue specimens and SGC7901 cell lines. Our results demonstrated that expression of lncRNA XIST and PXN was significantly elevated while the expression of miR-132 was significantly reduced in gastric cancer tissues.

Background: Diabetic cystopathy (DCP) is a chronic complication of diabetes mainly within the submucosal and muscular layers of the bladder due to the hyperglycemia-induced ischemia. As no effective therapies are currently available, the administration of optimized mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) provides a potential treatment of DCP. Thus far, new strategy, such as genetic modification of MSCs, has been developed and has shown promising outcomes of various disorders.

Cancer metastasis is a major cause of death among women afflicted with breast cancer (BC) and understanding the molecular processes involved is a major focus in BC research. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have emerged as genomic regulatory molecules in carcinogenesis and metastasis; however, their role in BC is unclear. We characterized a novel circRNA, hsa_circ_0000515, in context of BC.

Objective: To explore the value of Sepsis-3 standard in diagnosis of patients with sepsis.
Methods: Patients who were infected or suspected of infection in intensive care unit (ICU) of six hospitals in Jiangsu Province from September 2017 to August 2018 were enrolled. They were divided into four groups: group A was in accordance with Sepsis-1 and Sepsis-3, group B only met the Sepsis-1 standard, group C only met the Sepsis-3 standard, and both Sepsis-1 and Sepsis-3 standard did not match in group D.

Introduction: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) exert immunomodulatory functions by inducing the development and differentiation of naive T cells into T cells with an anti-inflammatory regulatory T cell (Treg) phenotype. Our previous study showed that hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) secreted by MSCs had immunomodulatory effects in the context of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation. We hypothesized that HGF is a key factor in the MSC-mediated regulation of the T helper 17 (Th17) cell/regulatory T (Treg) cell balance.

Tripartite motif-containing protein 11 (TRIM11) is one of the E3 ubiquitin ligases, which is upregulated in several human tumors. Meanwhile, the detailed function of TRIM11 remains unclear in breast cancer cells. The purpose of the present study is to analyze the biological function of TRIM11 and identify its potential signaling pathway in breast cancer cells.

Background: Accumulating evidence has highlighted the tumor suppressive roles of microRNA (miRNAs) in cervical cancer (CC). In the present study, we aim to delineate the functional relevance of microRNA-137 (miR-137) in influencing epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and other CC cell biological activities via the TGF-β/smad pathway by binding to GREM1.
Methods: Microarray analysis was initially adopted to predict the differentially expressed genes and the miRNAs related to CC, followed by the measurement of the expression patterns of GREM1, EMT-related factors in the CC tissues and the adjacent tissues.

Background: Sepsis-3 definitions have been published recently; however, their diagnostic value remains controversial. This study was to assess the accuracy of Sepsis-3 definitions compared to Sepsis-1 definitions by stratifying mortality among adult critically ill patients with suspected infection.
Methods: A multicenter, prospective cohort study was conducted from November 10, 2017 to October 10, 2018, in five Intensive Care Units (ICUs) at four teaching hospitals.
Background: Combined simultaneous arginine clonidine stimulation (CSACS) test represents a more appropriate stimulus to detect Ghrelin, for it does not affect glucose metabolism.
Methods: Fifty prepubertal children with dwarfism were recruited and further classified into normal growth hormone (NGH) and growth hormone deficiency (GHD) group with growth hormone (GH) peak cut-off value of 10 μg/l. In both groups, GH and Ghrelin serum levels were determined after the GH provocation test at 30, 60, and 120 min and the height standard deviation score (SDS) for bone age was measured six months later.

Cyclosporin A (CsA) is widely used as an immunosuppressor in the context of organ transplantation or autoimmune disorders. Recent studies have revealed the detrimental effects of CsA on insulin resistance and pancreatic β cell failure; however, the molecular mechanisms are unknown. The present study sought to confirm the associations between CsA and β cell failure, and to investigate the roles of proinsulin folding and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in CsA-induced β cell failure.

Objective: To investigate whether lncRNA H19 can regulate NF1 expression through competitive binding to microRNA-107, thereby participating in the occurrence and development of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Patients And Methods: Expression levels of H19 and NF1 in NSCLC tissues, paracancerous tissues and NSCLC cell lines were detected by quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The binding condition of microRNA-107, H19 and NF1 was detected by dual-luciferase reporter gene assay.
