Oxidative stress and neuronal apoptosis could be an important factor leading to post-hemorrhagic consequences after germinal matrix hemorrhage (GMH). Previously study have indicated that relaxin 2 receptor activation initiates anti-oxidative stress and anti-apoptosis in ischemia-reperfusion injury. However, whether relaxin 2 activation can attenuate oxidative stress and neuronal apoptosis after GMH remains unknown.

Osteoporosis (OP) is a common clinical bone disease that can cause a high incidence of non-stress fractures and is one of the main degenerative diseases that endangers the health and life of middle-aged and older women. The mechanism underlying the abnormal differentiation and function of human bone marrow stem cells (hBMSCs) remains to be elucidated. Cell proliferation and differentiation were determined using 3-(4,5)-dimethylthiahiazo (-z-y1)-3,5-di-phenytetrazoliumromide (MTT) assay, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) staining, and Alizarin Red Staining.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a predominant cause of cancer-related mortality globally, noted for its propensity towards late-stage diagnosis and scarcity of effective treatment modalities. The process of metabolic reprogramming, with a specific emphasis on lipid metabolism, is instrumental in the progression of HCC. Nevertheless, the precise mechanisms through which lipid metabolism impacts HCC and its viability as a therapeutic target have yet to be fully elucidated.

Identifying phase-separated structures remains challenging, and effective intervention methods are currently lacking. Here we screened for phase-separated proteins in breast tumour cells and identified forkhead (FKH) box protein M1 (FOXM1) as the most prominent candidate. Oncogenic FOXM1 underwent liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) with FKH consensus DNA element, and compartmentalized the transcription apparatus in the nucleus, thereby sustaining chromatin accessibility and super-enhancer landscapes crucial for tumour metastatic outgrowth.

Wogonin, an O-methylated flavonoid extracted from Scutellaria baicalensis, has demonstrated profound neuroprotective effects in a range of central nervous system (CNS) diseases. This review elucidates the pharmacological mechanisms underlying the protective effects of wogonin in CNS diseases, including ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, anxiety, neurodegenerative diseases, and CNS infections. Wogonin modulates key signaling pathways, such as the MAPK, NF-κB, and ROS pathways, contributing to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiapoptotic properties.

Background: Disorders of the coagulation pathway are triggered in patients with severe burn and inhalation injuries in the early stages. There are multiple early coagulation indices identified to correlate with adverse outcomes.
Method: A retrospective analysis of patients with severe burn and inhalation injuries from 12 centers in mainland China was performed to identify early changed coagulation indices with predictive value associated with four major 28-day adverse outcomes (death, anticoagulation, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy) by logistic regression.

Male osteoporosis is primarily caused by a decrease in testicular testosterone production. Male osteoporosis remains a disease with insufficient diagnosis and treatment, and its consequences are severe, especially in older patients. The gut microbiota plays a crucial role in its occurrence and development.

Whether primary lesion surgery improves survival in patients with de novo metastatic breast cancer (dnMBC) is inconclusive. We aimed to establish a prognostic prediction model for patients with de novo metastatic breast invasive ductal carcinoma (dnMBIDC) based on machine learning algorithms and to investigate the value of primary site surgery. The data used in our study were obtained from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database (SEER, 2010-2021) and the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University (1st-NCUH, June 2013-June 2023).

This study investigated the protective effects of the dietary polyphenol vanillic acid (VA) on dextran sulfate sodium-induced acute ulcerative colitis (UC) in mice, focusing on its impact on the gut microbiota and inflammatory responses. VA was supplemented following dextran sulfate sodium administration, and key indicators, including body weight, disease activity index, colon length, spleen index, and inflammatory markers, were assessed. VA supplementation significantly alleviated UC symptoms, preserved intestinal barrier integrity, and reduced pro-inflammatory cytokine levels.

Traditional epidemiological studies are susceptible to confounding factors. To clarify the impact of metabolic syndrome and its diagnostic components on hepatocellular carcinoma, we conducted a preliminary mendelian randomization analysis with metabolic syndrome and its diagnostic components as exposures and hepatocellular carcinoma as the outcome. Another set of genetic data related to hepatocellular carcinoma was used as a validation cohort, repeating the mendelian randomization analysis and combining the two groups for a meta-analysis.

Fever of unknown origin (FUO) caused by infection is a disease state characterized by complex pathogens and remains a diagnostic dilemma. Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) technology is a promising diagnostic tool for identifying pathogenic microbes of FUO caused by infection. Little is known about the clinical impact of mNGS in the etiological diagnosis of FUO.

The conventional statistical approach for analyzing resting state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) data struggles to accurately distinguish between patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and those with neuromyelitis optic spectrum disorders (NMOSD), highlighting the need for improved diagnostic efficacy. In this study, multilevel functional metrics including resting state functional connectivity, amplitude of low frequency fluctuation (ALFF), and regional homogeneity (ReHo) were calculated and extracted from 116 regions of interest in the anatomical automatic labeling atlas. Subsequently, classifiers were developed using different combinations of these selected features to distinguish between MS and NMOSD.

Stanford type B aortic dissection involving the left subclavian artery (LSA) poses significant clinical challenges. The Castor single-branch stent graft and in situ fenestration are commonly used techniques, but the better endovascular treatment remains debated. This study evaluates the clinical effects of the Castor single-branched stent graft versus in situ fenestration in treating Stanford type B aortic dissection involving the LSA.

Systemic or local use of glucocorticoids (GCs) can induce pathological elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP), potentially leading to permanent visual loss. Previous studies have demonstrated that rapamycin (Rapa) inhibits the activation of retinal glial cells (RGC) and the production of neuroinflammation, achieving neuroprotective goals. However, there has been little research on the effect of Rapa on the trabecular meshwork (TM).

The increasing incidence of infections attributed to hypervirulent carbapenem-resistant (Hv-CRKp) is of considerable concern. Bacteriophages, also known as phages, are viruses that specifically infect bacteria; thus, phage-based therapies offer promising alternatives to antibiotic treatments targeting Hv-CRKp infections. In this study, two isolated bacteriophages, Kpph1 and Kpph9, were characterized for their specificity against the Hv-CRKp NUHL30457 strain that possesses a K2 capsule serotype.
