Background: The variations in alliin content are a crucial criterion for evaluating garlic quality and is the sole precursor for allicin biosynthesis, which is significant for the growth, development, and stress response of garlic. WRKY transcription factors are essential for enhancing stress resistance by regulating the synthesis of plant secondary metabolites. However, the molecular mechanisms regulating alliin biosynthesis remain unexplored.

Sensitive and accurate detection and imaging of different microRNAs (miRNAs) in cancer cells hold great promise for early disease diagnosis. Herein, a DNA tetrahedral scaffold (DTS)-corbelled autonomous-motion (AM) molecular machine based fluorescent sensing platform was designed for simultaneous detection of two types of miRNAs (miRNA-21 and miRNA-155) in HeLa cells. Locking-strand-silenced DNAzymes (P:L duplex) were firstly grafted at the loop of target-analogue-embedded double-stem hairpin substrates (TDHS) of DTS, making the sensor in a "signal off" state due to the closely distance between modified fluorophores (FAM and Cy5) with the corresponding quenchers (BHQ1 and BHQ2).

Effectual CH reclamation from CH/N blends by existing physisorbents in industrialization confronts the adversity of frustrated separation performance, weak structural strength, and restricted scale-up preparation. To solve aforesaid bottlenecks, herein, a strategy is presented to fabricate synergistic strong recognition binding sites in a robust and scalable optimum Cu(pma) with ultramicroporous feature regarding superb CH separation versus N. By virtue of the synergistic contribution of multiple affinities accompanied by enormous potential field overlap of pore restriction, it imparts strong recognition binding toward CH molecules.

Single-atom manipulation has emerged as an effective strategy for enhancing the photocatalytic efficiency. However, the mechanism of photogenerated carrier dynamics under single-atom modulation remains unclear. Combining first-principles calculations and non-adiabatic molecular dynamics simulations, we systematically studied carrier transfer and recombination in the oxygen reduction reaction of single-atom-doped CN systems.

We demonstrate that fundamental nonlinear localized modes can exist in the Chen-Lee-Liu equation modified by several parity-time (PT) symmetric complex potentials. The explicit formula of analytical solitons is derived from the physically interesting Scarf-II potential, and families of spatial solitons in internal modes are numerically captured under the optical lattice potential. By the spectral analysis of linear stability, we observe that these bright solitons can remain stable across a broad scope of potential parameters, despite the breaking of the corresponding linear PT-symmetric phases.

The effective S-scheme homojunction relies on the precise regulation of band structure and construction of advantaged charge migration interfaces. Here, the electronic structural properties of g-CN were modulated through meticulous polymerization of self-assembled supramolecular precursors. Experimental and DFT results indicate that both the intrinsic bandgap and surface electronic characteristics were adjusted, leading to the formation of an in-situ reconstructed homojunction interface facilitated by intrinsic van der Waals forces.

In contrast to Type-II photodynamic therapy (PDT), Type-I PDT with less oxygen consumption has shown great potential against tumor hypoxia. However, there are limited strategies available for designing Type-I photosensitizers (PSs). Herein, we present a promising strategy for synthesizing Type-I PSs () using Tröger's base (TB) framework.

The subalpine grassland ecosystem is sensitive to climatic changes. Previous studies investigated the effects of warming on grassland ecosystems at a single altitude, with little information about the response of subalpine meadows to warming along altitude gradients. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of warming on aboveground grass, belowground soil properties, and fungal community along altitude gradients in the subalpine meadow of Mount Wutai using the high-throughput sequencing method.

Herein, we present a Pd(OAc)/Dppp-catalyzed synthesis of 4-arylphenanthridinones from 2-bromobenzamides and iodobenzene, which undergoes successive Ullman cross-coupling, C-H activation, and oxidative coupling dehydrogenation process. The presented methods offer an adaptable and modular synthesis route for efficiently producing a wide array of valuable phenanthridiones, demonstrating exceptional compatibility with functional groups. Alternatively, a 1:1 cross-coupling reaction utilizing an intramolecular norbornene moiety as the ligand resulted in phenanthridinones through -arylation and C-H activation.

Sensitive and accurate determination of acetamiprid is highly desirable for guaranteeing food safety. In this Letter, an energy-transfer-based dual-mode biosensor was developed using zinc-based metal-organic frameworks (Zn-MOFs) acting as both photoelectrochemical (PEC) and electrochemiluminescent (ECL) donors and Pt@CuO cubic nanocrystals (CNs) as the energy acceptor for detecting acetamiprid. By integration of aptamer recognition with two-step DNA circuit amplification (entropy-driven DNA cycle and DNA walker), the detection of acetamiprid was converted into the assay of abundant intermediate DNA strands.

Conventional solid/liquid electrochemical interfaces typically encounter challenges with impeded mass transport for poor electrochemical quantification due to the intricate pathways of reactants from the bulk solution. To address this issue, this work reports an innovative approach integrating a target-activated DNA framework nanomachine with electrochemically driven metal-organic framework (MOF) conversion for self-sacrificial biosensing. The presence of the target biomarker serotonin initiates the DNA framework nanomachine by an entropy-driven circuit to form a cross-linked nanostructure and subsequently release the Fe-MOF probe.

The widespread use of copper (Cu) in industrial and agricultural settings leads to the accumulation of excess Cu within aquatic ecosystems, posing a threat to organism health. Microalgal bioremediation has emerged as a popular and promising solution to mitigate the risks. Nevertheless, the genetic underpinnings and engineering tactics involved in heavy metal bioremediation by microalgae remain inadequately elucidated.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and the lack of effective biomarkers for early detection leads to poor therapeutic outcomes. Prostaglandin E Synthase 3 (PTGES3) is a putative prognostic marker in many solid tumors; however, its expression and biological functions in HCC have not been determined. Epitranscriptomic chemical modifications of RNAs have emerged as potent regulatory mechanisms in the process of plant stress adaptation. Currently, over 170 distinct chemical modifications have been identified in mRNAs, tRNAs, rRNAs, microRNAs (miRNAs), and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs). Genetic and molecular studies have identified the genes responsible for addition and removal of chemical modifications from RNA molecules, which are known as "writers" and "erasers," respectively.

In the realm of logographic writing systems, such as Chinese characters, orthographic transparency fundamentally differs from alphabetic languages, posing unique challenges for individuals with developmental dyslexia (DD). This study employed event-related potentials (ERPs) and a masked priming paradigm to investigate how Chinese children with DD compared to typically developing (TD) children in their utilization of orthographic-phonological mapping rules during the processing of pseudocharacters. The findings revealed noteworthy distinctions between TD and DD children.
