Zebrafish () has appeared as a valuable and popular model species to study the developmental and toxicological impact of environmental pollutants. To get insights on the toxicological effect of arsenic on early embryonic development, a controlled breeding of local Bangladeshi zebrafish followed by comprehensive microscopic analysis was conducted to study the embryonic development after exposure to different concentrations of arsenic ranges from 4-120 h post-fertilization. Zebrafish embryos exposed to 2 mM of arsenic displayed distinguishable developmental delay compared to control.

In order to rapidly screen α-glucosidase (α-GLU) inhibitors from Chinese herbs extract, an online screening method was developed by using enzymatic microreactors in combination with HPLC. A type of dodecahedral and porous material (ZIF-90) was synthesized at room temperature and employed as supports to construct enzymatic microreactor. The amount of α-glucosidase immobilized on ZIF-90 was 58.

Background: Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis is a cause of both poultry- and egg-associated enterocolitis globally and bloodstream-invasive nontyphoidal Salmonella (iNTS) disease in sub-Saharan Africa (sSA). Distinct, multi-drug resistant genotypes associated with iNTS disease in sSA have recently been described, often requiring treatment with fluoroquinolone antibiotics. In industrialised countries, antimicrobial use in poultry production has led to frequent fluoroquinolone resistance amongst globally prevalent enterocolitis-associated lineages.

Ionic liquid (IL) surfactants have attracted great interest as promising substitutes for conventional surfactants owing to their exceptional and favorable physico-chemical properties. However, most IL surfactants are not eco-friendly and form unstable micelles, even when using a high concentration of the surfactant. In this study, we prepared a series of halogen-free and biocompatible choline-fatty-acid-based ILs with different chain lengths and degrees of saturation, and we then investigated their micellar properties in aqueous solutions.

The effects of dual species interactions on biofilm formation by Aeromonas hydrophila in the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Pectobacterium carotovorum, Salmonella Typhimurium, and Listeria monocytogenes were examined. High-performance liquid chromatography and liquid-chromatography-mass spectrometry were performed to identify N-acyl homoserine lactone (AHL) molecules secreted by monocultures and dual cultures grown in crab broth. Field emission scanning electron microscopy was performed to observe attachment and biofilm formation.

The magadiite (MAG) was modified by cetyltrimethyl ammonium-Bromide (CTAB) and then further modified by Chitosan (CS) which is called organic modified-magadiite as magadiite-cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (MAG-CTAB) and magadiite-cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide-Chitosan (MAG-CTAB-CS), respectively, in this research study. The MAG, MAG-CTAB, and MAG-CTAB-CS were used as 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) drug carrier materials; the drug carrier's materials were marked as magadiite-5-Fluorouracil (MAG/5-FU), magadiite-cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide-5-Fluorouracil (MAG-CTAB/5-FU), and magadiite-cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide-Chitosan (MAG-CTAB-CS/5-FU). X-ray diffraction(XRD, Flourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results were shown that 5-Fluorouracil was combined with carrier materials through physical apparent adsorption, ion exchange, chemical bond, hydrogen bond, and electrostatic interaction.

Rigid biological systems are increasingly becoming a source of inspiration for the fabrication of the advanced functional materials due to their diverse hierarchical structures and remarkable engineering properties. As a bionic biomaterial with a clear layered structure, excellent mechanical properties, and interesting rainbow colors, nacre has become one of the most attractive models for novel artificial materials design. In this research paper, the tough and strong nacre-like bio-hybrid membranes with an interpenetrating petals structure were fabricated from chitosan (CS) and magadiite (MAG) clay nanosheets through the gel-casting self-assembling method.

Organically-modified magadiite (MAG⁻CTAB⁻KH550) was synthesized via ion-exchange method and condensation reaction in the presence of pure magadiite (MAG), cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and γ-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (KH550) in aqueous solution in this research. This new adsorbent material was studied using scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and N₂ adsorption/desorption isotherms process. It was found that the MAG⁻CTAB⁻KH550 has high Brunaur-Emmet-Teller (BET) specific surface area and mesoporous pore size distribution which enhanced its ability to remove phenol in aqueous solution; and, the value of pH has a relatively large impact on the adsorption behavior of the sorbent.

The optic nerve (ON) is an important organ in the visual system of animals, which transfers electrical impulses towards the brain from the retina. High enrichment of glial cells in ON is known to support neuron and regulate retinal homoeostasis. However, research on immunohistochemical of glial cells proteins in the camel is scanty in available literature.

In the present work, Dioscorea opposita Thunb polysaccharide-zinc (DPS-zinc) inclusion complex was synthesized for the first time and its anti-diabetes activities against Streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats were assayed. The detail structural and morphological analysis of as-prepared DPS-zinc complex was done by using different spectroscopic and microscopic methods. The pharmacological study revealed that DPS-zinc presented a potent hypoglycemic effect on STZ-induced diabetic rats, decreased the glucose and insulin levels, reduced malondialdehyde (MDA) contents and increased SOD and T-AOC activities significantly in liver.

It is evident that date fruits provide a wide variety of essential nutrients which impart potential human health benefits. In Bangladesh, the popularity of date and its consumption surge few-fold during Ramadan among Muslims owing to the profound emotion related to religious belief that breaking of dawn-to-dusk fasting with dates is fulfilling a Sunnah. The present study aimed to explore the microbiological quality of the five most popular fresh date samples (Nagal, Dhapas, Boroi, Morium, and Tunisia) purchased from different locations of Dhaka City, Bangladesh.

A glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was modified with poly(L-arginine) (P-Arg), reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and gold nanoparticle (AuNP) to obtain an electrode for simultaneous determination of dopamine (DA), serotonin (5-HT) and L-tryptophan (L-Trp) in the presence of ascorbic acid (AA). The modified GCE was prepared via subsequent 'layer-by-layer' deposition using an electrochemical technique. The surface morphology of the modified electrode was studied by scanning electron microscopy, and electrochemical characterizations were carried out via cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
