Background: There is a clear correlation between accurate postoperative lymph node staging and the survival prognosis of patients. This study aimed to explore the application and value of indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence real-time imaging technology in lymph node sorting during radical esophagectomy for esophageal cancer.
Methods: From August 2022 to June 2023, the specimens of 66 patients who underwent esophageal cancer resection with lymph node dissection were examined.

Laser-induced thermal therapy (LITT) has evolved over the past two decades to treat a number of intracranial pathologies. Although it initially emerged as a salvage treatment of surgically inoperable tumors or recurrent lesions that had exhausted more conventional treatments, it is now being used as a primary, first-line treatment in certain instances with outcomes comparable to traditional surgical resection. The authors discuss the evolution of LITT in the treatment of gliomas and future directions, which may further enhance the efficacy of this procedure.

Objective: Magnetic resonance-guided laser interstitial thermal therapy (MRgLITT) is a minimally invasive and effective treatment option that can potentially treat deep-seated pathologies in cases without safe open surgical corridors. In the present report, we have described our experience using MRgLITT for brainstem pathologies.
Methods: A retrospective medical record review and analysis were conducted for all patients who had undergone MRgLITT for pathologies within or closely surrounding the brainstem between 2011 and 2020.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has caused significant health and economic havoc around the globe. One of the early agents targeted for repurposing to treat and prevent COVID-19 was hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). In this systematic review and meta-analysis, HCQ is evaluated for its potential role in decreasing mortality in hospitalized patients with COVID-19.

Background: Depression appears to be a common complication in patients during and post-COVID-19 infection. Understanding the mechanism of action of cytokines such as interleukin-6, interleukin-10 and others in depression and in cytokine storm syndrome, the core component of COVID- 19, could shine a new light on future treatment options for both disorders.
Objective: This review demonstrates the role of interleukins in COVID-19 pathogenesis and their role in depression.

Immune channel inhibitor-induced myocarditis is rare, and its management is challenging. Recently, guidelines were established for all ICIs, yet they do not take into account individual drug toxicities or screening protocols for prevention. We present a rare case of rapidly progressive pembrolizumab-induced fatal myocarditis in an initially asymptomatic patient.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the hemodynamic parameters from the anesthesia records of children who underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (esophagogastroduodenoscopy [EGD]) with and without secretin pancreatic function tests (sPFTs).
Methods: The hemodynamic parameters were retrieved from an electronic anesthesia database. The secretin group consisted of 186 children, and the age- and sex-matched control group included 136 patients who did not have sPFTs.

As the age of pregnant women and prevalence of obesity and diabetes are increasing, so is the prevalence of medical disorders during pregnancy, particularly hypertension and the associated CKD. Pregnancy can worsen kidney function in women with severe disease, and hypertension puts them at risk for pre-eclampsia and the associated complications. There are no specific guidelines for hypertension management in this population, and tight control will not prevent pre-eclampsia.
