Tendinopathy is a disorder characterized by pain and reduced function due to a series of changes in injured or diseased tendons. Inflammation and collagen degeneration are key contributors to the onset and chronic nature of tendinopathy. Acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid (AKBA) is an effective anti-inflammatory agent widely used in chronic inflammatory disorders and holds potential for tendinopathy treatment; however, its therapeutic efficacy is limited by poor aqueous solubility.

Autophagy is a vital mechanism that eliminates large cytoplasmic components via lysosomal degradation to maintain cellular homeostasis. The role of autophagy in cancer treatment has been studied extensively. Autophagy primarily prevents tumour initiation by maintaining genomic stability and preventing cellular inflammation.

The increase in nano/microplastics (NPs/MPs) from various everyday products entering aquatic environments highlights the urgent need to develop mitigation strategies. Biochar (BC), known for its excellent adsorption capabilities, can effectively target various harmful organic and inorganic pollutants. However, traditional methods involving powdered BC necessitate centrifugation and filtration, which can lead to the desorption of pollutants and subsequent secondary pollution.

Intervertebral disc disease is the most common spinal cord-related disease in dogs, caused by disc material protrusion or extrusion that compresses the spinal cord, leading to clinical symptoms. Diagnosis involves identifying radiographic signs such as intervertebral disc space narrowing, increased opacity of the intervertebral foramen, spondylosis deformans, and magnetic resonance imaging findings like spinal cord compression and lesions, alongside clinical symptoms and neurological examination findings. Intervertebral disc space narrowing on radiographs is the most common finding in intervertebral disc extrusion.

The concept of non-trivial electronic structure combined with reduced dimensionality presents a promising strategy for advancing optical applications and energy harvesting technologies. Symmetry breaking in low dimensional system enables the emergence of non-linear optical responses, which are greatly amplified by the singular points of band inversion. Here, using first-principles calculations, the significant enhancement of the shift current in Bi nanotubes is investigated, driven by the combined effects of 1D geometry and non-trivial band order.

This study reports an effective strategy for designing 3D electrocatalyst via the deposition of ZIF67-derived Co-CN shell layer over CuO nanoarrays to form a CuO@Co-CN hybrid, followed by incorporation with p-block Sb single atoms (CuO@Co-CN/Sb) to obtain highly activated catalytic behaviors. Inheriting both the excellent intrinsic catalytic activity of the components and their synergy, the CuO@Co-CN/Sb material serves as a high-efficiency multifunctional catalyst for overall water splitting and zinc (Zn)-air batteries. The material yields a current density of 10 mA cm at a low overpotential of 72 and 250 mV for the hydrogen evolution reaction and oxygen evolution reaction, respectively.

Ischemic preconditioning (IPC) is a strategy that may enhances endurance performance in thermoneutral environments. Exercising in the heat increases thermoregulatory and cardiovascular strain, decreasing endurance performance. The current study aimed to determine whether IPC administration improves endurance performance in the heat.

The traditional epoxy resin not only is flammable and non-recyclable and but also heavily dependents on petroleum resources, which cannot meet the requirements of fire prevention and sustainable development. In this study, a vanillin intermediate (VAP) with dynamic imine bond (C=N) was prepared by schiff base reaction between the lignin derivative vanillin (-CHO) and the cage-like polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane OA-POSS(-NH). Then, a biomass-based P-N-Si flame retardant (VAPD) was synthesized by adding 9,10-Dihydro-9-Oxa-10-Phosphaphenanthrene-10-Oxide (DOPO) into the VAP.

The landscape of medical cannabis has evolved dramatically over the past few decades. Once stigmatized and illegal in most parts of the world, cannabis is now recognized for its potential therapeutic benefits, supported by an expanding body of scientific research. However, the transition from prohibition to medical recognition is shaped by complex interactions among scientific advancements, public perception and regulatory frameworks for its legalization.

One of the unavoidable issues with the bio-scaffolding process is the collapse of the visually appealing external three-dimensional (3D) sponge-like structure and the internal porous and multilayered morphology of a gas-foamed nanofibrous scaffold. Herein, a gas-foamed polycaprolactone/cellulose (g-PCL/CL) nanofibers scaffold is first prepared by electrospinning PCL/cellulose acetate, followed by deacetylation and then Sodium borohydride-assisted gas-foaming technique. The deformed 3D architecture of g-PCL/CL nanofiber is finally reconstructed by mixing it with chitosan (CS) solution and molding.
