Aims: To explore (i) in what proportion and direction coronary artery calcium (CAC) score reclassifies coronary risk in asymptomatic diabetic patients at high a priori coronary risk, and (ii) whether screening for asymptomatic myocardial ischemia / coronary stenosis only in patients at very high coronary risk - whether a priori or combined with those reclassified at very high risk according to their CAC score - has good sensitivity to detect these conditions.
Methods: We retrospectively selected 377 asymptomatic primary prevention diabetic patients at high or very high a priori coronary risk according to national guidelines. All had their CAC score measured and underwent stress myocardial scintigraphy to detect myocardial ischemia.

Background: Bronchiolitis is a major source of morbimortality among young children worldwide. Non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) implemented to reduce the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 may have had an important impact on bronchiolitis outbreaks, as well as major societal consequences. Discriminating between their respective impacts would help define optimal public health strategies against bronchiolitis.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a complex disorder that is implicated in dysregulations in multiple biological pathways, orchestrated by interactions between genetic predisposition, metabolic syndromes and environmental factors. The limited knowledge of its pathogenesis is one of the bottlenecks in the development of prognostic and therapeutic options for MAFLD. Moreover, the extent to which metabolic pathways are altered due to ongoing hepatic steatosis, inflammation and fibrosis and subsequent liver damage remains unclear.

Introduction: Combining basal insulin (BI) with glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA) is recognized as a relevant option to optimize glucose control in type 2 diabetes (T2D). The EASY real-world study aimed to evaluate the modalities of initiation and the effectiveness of the insulin Degludec plus Liraglutide (IDegLira) fixed-ratio combination in the French health care system.
Methods: A retrospective analysis included all patients with T2D and prior injectable therapy (GLP1-RA and/or insulin) who started treatment with IDegLira from September 2016 to December 2017 in 11 French diabetes centers.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate evolution and prognosis of mucinous ovarian carcinomas (mOC), with respect to the two invasive patterns: expansile and infiltrative invasion. This was a descriptive, retrospective, multicenter study conducted in 13 French centres from 1 January 2001 to 31 December 2019. All patients operated on for epithelial ovarian neoplasia of the mucinous type (infiltrative/expansile) were included, whether the surgery was performed immediately or after neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Prediabetes is a very prevalent condition associated with an increased risk of developing diabetes and/or other chronic complications, in particular cardiovascular disorders. Early detection is therefore mandatory since therapeutic interventions may limit the development of these complications. Diagnosis of prediabetes is currently based on glycemic criteria (fasting plasma glucose (PG), and/or glycemia at 120 min during a 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and/or glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c).

Background And Aims: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) definitions in adolescents based on the percentiles of its components are rather complicated to use in clinical practice. The aim of this study was to test the validity of artificial intelligence (AI)-based scores (AI_METS) that do not use these percentiles for MetS screening for adolescents.
Methods And Results: This study included 1086 adolescents aged 12 to 18.

Objectives: Patients lost to follow-up and treatment failure in tuberculosis disease (TB) are major public health issues. In the absence of appropriate treatment, approximately 70 % of smear-positive patients will die within 10 years of disease progression. This study, conducted in the French region with the highest incidence, aimed to assess tuberculosis treatment outcomes and its determinants.

Background: During the initial phase of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, reduced numbers of acutely ill or injured children presented to emergency departments (EDs). Concerns were raised about the potential for delayed and more severe presentations and an increase in diagnoses such as diabetic ketoacidosis and mental health issues. This multinational observational study aimed to study the number of children presenting to EDs across Europe during the early COVID-19 pandemic and factors influencing this and to investigate changes in severity of illness and diagnoses.

Background & Aims: Combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CCA) is a rare primary liver cancer (PLC) associated with a poor prognosis. Given the challenges in its identification and its clinical implications, biomarkers are critically needed. We aimed to investigate the diagnostic and prognostic value of the immunohistochemical expression of Nestin, a progenitor cell marker, in a large multicentric series of PLCs.

Objective: The hyperglycaemia and adverse pregnancy outcomes (HAPO) study, where hyperglycaemia was untreated, showed a continuous association between large-for-gestational-age (LGA) infant and seven increasing categories of fasting plasma glucose (PG), 1-hour and 2-hour PG values after a 75 g oral glucose tolerance test at 24-32 gestational weeks. We evaluated whether the excess risk persisted in the 6th and 7th glucose categories - corresponding to women treated for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).
Patients And Methods: We included 7,190 women meeting the HAPO criteria, of whom 655 (9.

Introduction: Borderline ovarian tumours (BOT) represent 10-20% of epithelial tumours of the ovary. Although their prognosis is excellent, the recurrence rate can be as high as 30%, and recurrence in the infiltrative form accounts for 3% to 5% of recurrences. Affecting, in one third of cases, women of childbearing age, the surgical strategy with ovarian conservation is now recommended despite a significant risk of recurrence.

Background: To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of the extended use of ablation for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with cirrhosis in an expert ablation center when compared to the non-extended use of ablation in equivalent tertiary care centers.
Methods: Consecutive cirrhotic patients with non-metastatic HCC, no prior treatment, and referred to three tertiary care centers between 2012 and 2016 were retrospectively identified. The Bondy group, including all of the patients treated at Jean Verdier Hospital, where the extended use of ablation is routinely performed, was compared to the standard of care (SOC) group, including all of the patients treated at the Beaujon and Mondor Hospitals, using propensity score matching.

Objective: To describe neurologic, radiologic and laboratory features in children with central nervous system (CNS) inflammatory disease complicating severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection.
Study Design: We focused on CNS inflammatory diseases in children referred from 12 hospitals in the Paris area to Necker-Sick Children Reference Centre.
Results: We identified 19 children who had a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection and manifest a variety of CNS inflammatory diseases: encephalopathy, cerebellar ataxia, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, or optic neuritis.

Background: Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is the most severe clinical entity associated with pediatric SARS-CoV-2 infection with a putative role of the spike protein into the immune system activation. Whether COVID-19 mRNA vaccine can induce this complication in children is unknown. We aimed to assess the risk of hyper-inflammatory syndrome following COVID-19 mRNA vaccine in children.
