Computational algorithms and tools have retrenched the drug discovery and development timeline. The applicability of computational approaches has gained immense relevance owing to the dramatic surge in the structural information of biomacromolecules and their heteromolecular complexes. Computational methods are now extensively used in identifying new protein targets, druggability assessment, pharmacophore mapping, molecular docking, the virtual screening of lead molecules, bioactivity prediction, molecular dynamics of protein-ligand complexes, affinity prediction, and for designing better ligands.

(Linnaeus, 1762) mosquito is the main vector of dengue, chikungunya and Zika and is well established today all over the world. The species comprises two forms: the ancestral form found throughout Africa and a global domestic form that spread to the rest of the tropics and subtropics. In Saudi Arabia, has been known in the southwest since 1956, and previous genetic studies clustered from Saudi Arabia with the global domestic form.

These syndromes arise from mutations in various genes, and one of the significant genes involved is glucose-6-phosphatase catalytic subunit 3 (), giving rise to a condition known as Dursun syndrome. As per existing knowledge, a total of 92 cases of Dursun syndrome have been reported globally, including eight cases from Saudi Arabia.

Sulfolactate (SL) is a short-chain organosulfonate that is an important reservoir of sulfur in the biosphere. SL is produced by oxidation of sulfolactaldehyde (SLA), which in turn derives from sulfoglycolysis of the sulfosugar sulfoquinovose, or through oxidation of 2,3-dihydroxypropanesulfonate. Oxidation of SLA is catalyzed by SLA dehydrogenases belonging to the aldehyde dehydrogenase superfamily.

Plasmonic nanoparticles such as Ag have gained great interest in the biomedical domain and chemical analysis due to their unique optical properties. Herein, we report a simple, cost-effective, and highly selective colorimetric sensor of mercury(ii) based on (horsetail) extract-functionalized Ag nanoparticles (ED-AgNPs). The ED-AgNPs were synthesized by exploiting the coordination of Ag with the various functional groups of ED extract under sunlight exposure for only tens of seconds.

The rapid progress of state-of-the-art carbon-based metals as a catalyst is playing a central role in the research area of chemical and materials engineering for effective visible-light-induced catalytic applications. Numerous admirable catalysts have been fabricated, but significant challenges persist to lower the cost and increase the action of catalysts. The development of carbon-based nanostructured materials (, activated carbon, carbon nitride, graphite, fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, diamond, graphene, ) represents an admirable substitute to out-of-date catalysts.

This work reports the development of two novel chelating adsorbents, based on the chemical modifications of graphene oxide and zirconium phosphate by functionalization with melamine-based chelating ligands for the effective and selective extraction of Hg(ii) and Pb(ii) from contaminated water sources. The first adsorbent melamine, thiourea-partially reduced graphene oxide (MT-PRGO) combines the heavier donor atom sulfur with the amine and triazine nitrogen's functional groups attached to the partially reduced GO nanosheets to effectively capture Hg(ii) ions from water.

Here, a novel nanoparticle vaccine is developed to deliver subunit viral antigens and STING agonists in a virus-like fashion. STING agonists are first encapsulated into capsid-like hollow polymeric nanoparticles, which show multiple favorable attributes, including a pH-responsive release profile, prominent local immune activation, and reduced systemic reactogenicity.
