A checklist was generated by compiling a database of all available published accounts of the monogenean parasites of fish from northeast India. The checklist is presented as a host-parasite list, including 35 nominal species from 14 genera and 3 families of monogeneans. Ten of the monogenean species listed here have been described from native fishes in the region, while 25 had previously been described from other parts of India.

An effective and affordable nanoadsorbent, magnetically separable magnetite-activated bamboo carbon (MABC), was obtained from waste bamboo biomass pyrolysis of bamboo chunks and the co-precipitation method using ferrous and ferric chloride as iron precursors. The synthesized nanosorbents were characterised using XRD, SEM, and DLS techniques to study the surface characteristics and morphology. Chemical composition, optical absorption, and magnetic properties were studied using FTIR spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, and VSM, respectively.

The plant based natural products have always been a rich source of bioactive molecules for drug discovery. The tender shoots of Griff., an edible medicinal plant was extracted using methanol, water and ethanol as three different solvents to study the effect of the extracting solvents and temperature on their antioxidant, antidiabetic and antibacterial properties and total phenolic and flavonoid contents.

Soil salinity poses a severe threat to rice production, resulting in stunted growth, leaf damage, and substantial yield losses. This study focuses on developing an early maturing seedling stage salinity tolerant rice variety by integrating conventional breeding methods with marker assisted breeding (MAB) approaches. Seedling-stage salinity tolerance Quantitative Trait Locus (QTL) "Saltol" from the salt-tolerant parent FL478 was introduced into the high-yielding but salt-sensitive rice variety ADT 45.

Cyanobacteria are challenged by daily fluctuations of light intensities and photoperiod in their natural habitats, which affect the physiology and fitness of cyanobacteria. Circadian rhythms (CRs), an important endogenous process found in all organisms including cyanobacteria, control their physiological activities and helps in coping with 24-h light/dark (LD) cycle. In cyanobacteria, physiological responses under rhythmic ultraviolet radiation (UVR) are poorly studied.

Chilli is an universal spice cum solanaceous vegetable crop rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, capsaicin and capsanthin. Its cultivation is highly threatened by fruit rot disease which cause yield loss as high as 80-100% under congenial environment conditions. Currently actinobacteria are considered as eco-friendly alternatives to synthetic fungicides at pre and post-harvest pathosystems.

Monogenoidea (Platyhelminthes), one of the largest groups of ectoparasitic metazoans worldwide, comprise over 7000 nominal species distributed globally, many of which may represent a serious threat to their fish hosts in aquaculture conditions. The fish fauna of Arunachal Pradesh, India-a global hotspot of biodiversity-is reasonably well-documented, with at least 213 known species (including 69 Siluriformes). These faunas are an essential resource for this tribal state's economy.

Photolyases (Phrs) are enzymes that utilize the blue/ultraviolet (UV-A) region of light for repairing UV-induced cyclopyramidine dimers. We studied Phr groups by bioinformatic analyses as well as active-site and structural modeling. Analysis of 238 amino acid sequences from 85 completely sequenced cyanobacterial genomes revealed five classes of Phrs, CPD Gr I, 6-4 Phrs/cryptochrome, Cry-DASH, Fe-S bacteria Phrs, and a group with fewer amino acids (276-385) in length.

This study summarizes the response of a hot spring cyanobacterium sp. strain HKAR-14, under simulated light conditions of ultraviolet radiation (UVR), photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), PAR + UV-A (PA) and PAR + UV-A + UV-B (PAB). Exposure to UVR caused a decline in growth and Chl while total carotene content increased under PA and PAB.

In the present study, a total of 53 promising salt-tolerant genotypes were tested across 18 salt-affected diverse locations for three years. An attempt was made to identify ideal test locations and mega-environments using GGE biplot analysis. The CSSRI sodic environment was the most discriminating location in individual years as well as over the years and could be used to screen out unstable and salt-sensitive genotypes.

A systematic study was carried out over all the seasons for two consecutive years (March 2003 to May 2005) to monitor the most important physico-chemical parameters of the Siang river water, Arunachal Pradesh, India in order to establish the baseline data of the river water. Water samples were collected from nine locations covering a stretch of 45 km of the river, in and around Pasighat, the district headquarters of East Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh. Alarge number of parameters such as temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, total solids, total dissolved solids, total hardness, dissolved oxygen, chlorides, sulphates, phosphates, silicates, bicarbonates, sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium were found to be well within the permissible limits for drinking water.
