Background & objectives The Pneumococcal vaccines were introduced under the Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) in 2021 in India. Drawing from the collective experience of various nations, it is anticipated that there will be a substantial shift in serotype patterns following the introduction of this vaccine. The available data is limited to years until 2018 when the vaccine was introduced in only five States.

Introduction: There is growing interest in the use of psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) for major depressive disorder (MDD), including treatment-resistant depression. We used randomized controlled trial (RCT) data to compare summary estimates of change in depression ratings with PAT versus comparator treatments in MDD. We also compared response and remission rates, and adverse effects.

Purpose: Telemedicine use in healthcare is rising. However, infrastructural barriers may impede implementation in lower- and middle-income country settings. Patient perspectives regarding teleconsultation need to be explored.

In vitro screening of UGT2B10 in silico prioritized putative ligands from drugs used in the pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplantation setting.

UGT2B10 is a phase II drug metabolizing enzyme with limited information on its role in the metabolism of drugs, especially in the pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplantation setting. Previously, we investigated UGT2B10's role through in silico analyses and prioritized acetaminophen (APAP), lorazepam (LOR), mycophenolic acid (MPA), and voriconazole N-oxide (VCZ N-oxide) for in vitro investigations. In this report, we present in vitro screening of these candidates and of voriconazole (VCZ) to assess their potential to be substrates and/or inhibitors of UGT2B10.

Efficacy and Clinical Utility of Sodium Fluoride Tubes Versus Serum Tubes for Blood Glucose Estimation.

The blood glucose levels are influenced by the time interval between sample collection and measurement as glycolysis continues to take place in the blood cells. Laboratories make efforts to minimize this change.

MALDI - TOF MS for the identification of obligate anaerobes and metronidazole susceptibility of anaerobic Gram negative bacilli.

MALDI-TOF MS, though has facilitated rapid and accurate anaerobe identification, the problem of rising metronidazole resistance amongst the members of Bacteroides fragilis group is cause for concern. In this one-year study period,152 anaerobic Gram negative bacilli and 60 Gram positive anaerobes were isolated from 167 samples obtained from clinically suspected anaerobic infections. Bacteroides fragilis accounted for 56 % of the total anaerobic GNB and Peptoniphilus asacchrarolyticus was the most commonly isolated Gram positive cocci.

Introduction: The prevalence of important public health problems like road traffic accidents (RTA) and depression are surging. This study was aimed to estimate distribution and determine the association between RTA and depression among Indian population aged 45 years and above: overall and stratified into age group, gender and across states/union territories as aspirants, achievers, and front runners.

Methods: Using Longitudinal Aging Study in India (LASI) dataset (April 2017-December 2018), we have conducted this study among middle aged (45-59 years) and older adults and elderly (≥ 60 years) Indians.

Adrenaline bolus rescue for refractory carcinoid crises during surgical manipulation of metastatic neuroendocrine tumor of pancreas: A case report.

Carcinoid crisis is a potentially fatal condition with severe hemodynamic instability. A 25-year-old female with metastatic pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor with recurrent carcinoid crises was posted for surgical debulking. Intraoperatively, the patient was on crisis during manipulation of the lesion by the surgeon, which was unresponsive to octreotide, infusions of phenylephrine, and norepinephrine agents.

Superior thyroid artery injury following foreign body ingestion in an intellectually disabled patient: A case report.

This case report highlights complexities in an intellectually disabled adult who ingested a chicken bone, resulting in a rare complication-superior thyroid artery injury. Presentation, diagnostic challenges, and a multidisciplinary approach are detailed. Initial attempts at esophagoscopy under general anesthesia were hindered by blood coughing, leading to a change of plan.

Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) remains the leading cardiac problem affecting pregnant women, especially in low- to middle-income countries. In nearly one-third of the cases, it is detected during pregnancy when they present with complications. Infective endocarditis (IE) in pregnancy is rare, with an incidence of 1 in 100 000 pregnancies, and carries high maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality.

Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on HTAsiaLink network members.

Objectives: This study investigates the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on HTAsiaLink members at the organizational level and provides recommendations for mitigating similar challenges in the future.

Methods: A survey was disseminated among HTAsiaLink members to assess the COVID-19 impact in three areas: (i) inputs, (ii) process, and (iii) outputs of the Health Technology Assessment organizations' (HTAOs) research operations and HTA process in general.

Results: Survey results showed that most HTAOs hired more staff and secured similar or higher funding levels during COVID-19.

Findings on serial thigh MRI can identify individuals with inflammatory myositis who recover sub-optimally: A 6-month follow-up study.

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the thigh is used in diagnosis of idiopathic inflammatory myositis (IIM) diagnosis due to its high sensitivity in detecting muscle oedema and to localize the site for muscle biopsy. At the same time, dual energy absorptiometry (DXA) is an accepted method in clinical practice to measure muscle mass and change in body composition. In this longitudinal study of patients with active IIM we sought to correlate muscle findings on serial thigh MRI and body composition assessed using DXA with six-month clinical outcomes, we also studied correlation of thigh MRI scores with body composition parameters.
