Panic Buying in Bangladesh: An Exploration of Media Reports.

As an erratic human behavior, panic buying is an understudied research area. Although panic buying has been reported in the past, it has not been studied systematically in Bangladesh. This study aimed to explore the characteristics of panic buying episodes in Bangladesh in comparison to current concepts.

Clinical Profile and Efficacy of Antivirals in Hepatitis B Virus Reactivation, in Patients With Cancer Receiving Chemotherapy.

Background/purpose: Hepatitis B virus reactivation (HBVR) is common in patients withcancer. The aim of the present study was to find out clinical profile of patients with cancer receiving chemotherapy with HBVR and to study the efficacy of entecavir (ETV) and tenofovir in the treatment of HBVR.

Methods: This is a prospective study in which all consecutive patients with cancer with evidence of HBVR were included.

Management of psychiatric conditions and delirium during the COVID-19 pandemic across continents: lessons learned and recommendations.

Background: With the uncertainties of COVID-19, people infected with coronavirus present with diverse psychiatric presentations. Some institutions have had to manage their patients with existing protocols, others have had to create them. In this article we aimed to report the challenges and good practices in the management of psychiatric conditions and delirium coexisting with COVID-19 across continents.

Mental health in Kashmir: conflict to COVID-19.

Owing to the enduring conflict in Kashmir, there has been an increase in psychological problems. On top of that, the COVID-19 pandemic has added an additional burden on the mental health system of Kashmir. There is an unmet and immediate need to escalate the mental health services in Kashmir consisted of community participation, awareness programs, and mental health rehabilitation services.

Perinatal Mental Health in Kashmir, India During The COVID-19 Pandemic.

The current COVID-19 pandemic in Kashmir along with lockdown measures-ordered to prevent the spread of the disease-has added further trauma to the fragile mental health system in Kashmir. There may be unquantifiable repercussions of the current epidemic on the emotional status of women during the perinatal period. There are numerous challenges in the perinatal period arising out of COVID-19 directly or indirectly because of lockdown measures that has been put in place to prevent the spread of disease.

Endoscopic Yield, Appropriateness, and Complications of Pediatric Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in an Adult Suite: A Retrospective Study of 822 Children.

Background/aims: This study aimed to study the endoscopic yield, appropriateness, and complications of pediatric endoscopy performed by adult gastroenterologists in an adult endoscopic suite.

Methods: This a retrospective study in which records of all the patients less than 18 years of age who underwent endoscopy in the last 5 years were studied. The indications of endoscopy in children were categorized as appropriate or inappropriate per the latest guidelines by American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.

Entecavir is Safe and Effective in Long Term for the Treatment of Hepatitis B in Immunocompromised Children.

Objective: Hepatitis B infection is common in patients with cancer, and prompt treatment is necessary; otherwise, it can result in life-threatening complications. The objective of this study was to assess the long-term safety and efficacy of entecavir in immunocompromised children with hepatitis B.

Methods: This single-center prospective study was conducted on children with different malignancies referred to our department with evidence of hepatitis B infection.

Factors predicting the presence of depression in obstructive sleep apnea.

Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a sleep-related breathing disorder and is associated with a myriad of neurocognitive dysfunctions and cardiac and metabolic diseases. Several studies have shown the relation of depressive symptom in patients with OSA. Keeping this in view, we planned to study various factors predicting the presence of depression in OSA.
