1Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Medicine, Georgia; 2Acad. F. Todua Medical Center, Magnetic Resonance Imaging Department, Tbilisi, Georgia.

We aim to define strength of correlation between Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System (PI RADS) scores of prostate cancer and final histopathological data-postoperative Gleason scores (Gs); apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and Gs; to define mean ADC values for each Gleason grade as well. To determine compliance of MRI data in preoperative prostate cancer grading with gold standard-morphological data. 203 consecutive patients suspected for prostate cancer (Pc) on multiparametric MRI, who underwent subsequent preoperative TRUS or MRI/Ultrasound fusion guided biopsies were included to this study prospectively.

Article Synopsis
  • The research focused on the frequency of VKROC1 and CYP2C9 gene variants in both healthy individuals and thrombosis patients within the Abkhazian population, examining their impact on warfarin treatment.
  • Results showed that healthy donors had a higher frequency of the heterozygous VKROC1 genotype compared to thrombosis patients, highlighting potential genetic predispositions to thrombotic conditions.
  • Significant differences were observed in the CYP2C9 gene variants, with the wild-type genotype more prevalent in healthy individuals than in thrombotic patients, indicating a possible link between these gene variants and susceptibility to thrombosis.

In this study, we investigated the cytotoxicity of doxorubicin (DOX)-loaded magnetic nanofluids on 4T1 mouse tumor epithelial cells and MDA-MB-468 human triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using sonochemical coprecipitation by applying electrohydraulic discharge treatment (EHD) in an automated chemical reactor, modified with citric acid and loaded with DOX. The resulting magnetic nanofluids exhibited strong magnetic properties and maintained sedimentation stability in physiological pH conditions.

In this paper, I discuss the systemic features of the life-span development approach which was initially elaborated by Baltes (1989) and more recently considered by Greve (Integrative Psychological and Behavioral Science, 1-21, 2023). I argue that the life-span development approach should recognize the agentivity of people as they not only passively react to changes inside and around themselves but rather imaginatively co-construct their selves (and, their environment) through aging. The irreversibility of human development is highlighted in this paper simultaneously with the recognition of the significance of past phenomenological experiences for self-construction.

Background: Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is not only the entry route of SARS-CoV-2 infection but also triggers a major mechanism of COVID-19 aggravation by promoting a hyperinflammatory state, leading to lung injury, hematological and immunological dysregulation. The impact of ACE2 inhibitors on the course of COVID-19 is still unclear. The effect of ACE2 inhibitors on the course of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) during COVID-19 and other severe respiratory infections in conditions of hyperferritinemia (HF) was investigated.

The dose-dependent effects of single metals (Zn, Ni, and Cu) and their combinations at steady time-actions on the cell viability of the bacteria DCB 2-1, isolated from a radionuclide-contaminated area, have been estimated. The accumulation of metals by DCB 2-1 in single and multi-metal systems was assessed using the inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy. To estimate the response of the bacteria's antioxidant defense system, doses of 20 and 50 mg/L of single studied metals and 20 mg/L of each metal in their combinations (non-toxic doses, determined by the colony-forming viability assay) were used.
